    Great hand tied, love the colors. I never knew about using cellophane to hold water.

    Hi John, what are those twirly foliage at the bottom right you're using? Are those corn plant foliage manipulated? Again very clear elaboration of principles and elements of design in your video. I love it. Thank you so much! I think by the time I finish florist school, I'll be one of the top student haha...because I spent so much time to just think abt the reasons. My teacher is a master florist like you and he always say flowers are by nature beautiful but, your customers should be buying your products because there's a strong design. As a florist, I have to know the reasons why each elements are placed in certain spots and it has to be harmonious. I learn the reasons from your videos. Thank you!

      Thank you! 😀
      The twirly stems are pandus leaves - you can buy them already manipulated into these twist cones - but normally they look a bit like a stripy version of phormium.
      Good luck at florist school - there is so much to learn its just wonderful 😀🌼 stay safe 🌼🌷

    Love love your videos. We have very similar design styles. As a florist owner, Im curious to know what your price points would be on your pieces. If you's share an estimate on them that would be very helpful. We have a standard calculation we use per element used, can fluctuate as you know. Also, I believe perception has a huge effect on price. Your thoughts?

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  5 лет назад +1

      julie vanerem it’s true, you need to price to suit your area, the customer base, what the wholesale prices are. There are lots of factors. One thing I used to do was take out the seasonal variation, so taking winter and summer stem prices and getting the average for each variety, then pricing to that. That means the customer doesn’t get half the flowers in the winter and your bouquets are more standardised.
      Every shop prices differently as well.
      I think florists are so keen to price competitively that they sell themselves short. I have done that, but it only works on volume, and flower shops don’t tend to do volume. For example we talk about an hourly rate for pricing, but how many bouquets are made in the whole day, and what Is the average wage adding all the employees together? Rather than thinking just the florist and just based on one hour.
      Thank you for watching and commenting.

      Christina Xiong they were in the foliage section form our supplier. We buy online and these are not always available, but nice when they are. We use Fleurametz but that is wholesale. Your local florist may be able to source for you 😀

    Hi John could you tell me what the beautiful spiralled leaves are please.

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  7 лет назад +1

      Hello! These leaves we bought at the wholesalers and are pre-made! Its a cheat but why not! The leaf itself is called pandus, but it would be possible to us phormium I think.
