Again, that crap has nothing to do with this game and a female lead in Ghost 2 doesn't mean DEI just because it triggered you. This game is based on a completely different part of Japan that wasn't even Japan at the time. This is literally kill bill/lady snowblood, Princess Mononoke, Red Dead 2, and Ghost 1 in one game. Instead of protesting land like in Ghost 1, this is a story of revenge in northern Japan before it was controlled by Japan. People fleeing the Shogun and criminals fled to the north at the time in what mirrors the wild west in US hense the music. The main female lead in lady snowblood even looks like the face actor of Ghost 2 likely by design. Research 1603 Japan. You missed much of the symbolism in the trailer. The wolves on the sword handle, working with a wolf (Japanese wolves that are now extinct), the crossing off of names with blood. This likely is a game where the main character has a kill list for revenge after her clan was completely killed and likely the wolf ques were suggesting you can play with a wolf companion. The weapons. The long rifle. The chain weapon, the double swords which was rare in Japan and refers to a famous fighter that went undefeated using the rare 2 sword style (is she a descendent or student of this famous fighter?). Also the guitar that geisha's use which for a Ghost assassin game likely means she has a dagger pop out of the guitar like in so many Japanese films ( her hands are dirty but her nails are polished, does she go undercover as a geisha before killing?). Basically the fighting will be new and improved and interestingly different. Also the trailer showed she knows who she is killing because she has a list but the people she is killing don't know who she is. This likely means she is the last survivor of her clan and she is on a revenge tour. This game is going to be game of the year.

AC Odyssey and Valhalla had both male and female characters you could choose to play. I bet you if those two games came out literally tomorrow, I guarantee you people would complain about it. And since ghost of Yōtei was advertised. I don’t really care about the character of a game. I’m more looking forward to the story. If a game isn’t for you, don’t play it. @@CultClassicCage yes. I do actually. I do that first, unlike other people who go for hard for their first play through. I’m a laid back/casual type. (Edit) I ain’t like a bunch of other people. I will play the story first. I learn the controls(Different games have different controls.) Games do say you can change difficulty at any time. With all respect, I ain’t like most other people. There has been plenty of other games with female protagonist.
It seems they’re really leaning into the whole “Assassin’s Creed” comparison a lot especially with the notion anyone can pick up the mantle of Ghost just like anyone can be an Assassin. Funny enough I think this game’s announcement not only scared Ubisoft into a delay but TGS told them to emphatically “GET OUT”
Gin's story ended on a good note. His story was fleshed out and had a very good conclusion. He did not need to be brought back in a sequel. Also, plenty of franchises change the protagonist. Gta, cod, Mafia etc. Theres also hundreds of years of story to be told. They dont need to focus on one samurai in one era when there are potentially hundreds of tales they can pull from. And if you(or anyone) is upset shes a woman, just get a life. Its not that deep.
Some of u really make no sense. U have an issue with a female badass main but liked yuna. If having a female as a main character woke then, GoT is definitely woke, yuna was more badass than jin and she basically created jin all legacy. Its hypocritical to want yuna and reject a new female character. Like isn't SP who wrote the character of yuna, a badass female warrior? That doesnt look accurate for me neither non woke?
It's unfortunate because before gamergate was a thing I wouldn't even bat an eye but you know it's got social agenda politics wether in your face or subtlety. I'm going to have to wait on reviews before I even attempt to play this I've been burned with Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2
We clearly have different opinions on this reveal. And that’s ok cuz I try not to believe in a Hivemind mindset. Am I stoked for this game and what the future holds for Ghost? Oh yeah! Can i understand why you’re not? Absolutely! Good video lady!
The only thing Sucker Punch Studios should always do is to what they have learned from their previous entry and what they could've done to make it better than GoT like making her playstyle different from Jin to a certain degree I think it's the most suggested choice make the character stand out from Jin yada yada yada.
How can someone be mid if you don't even know them yet? There was no gameplay shown when Ghost of Tsushima was announced so what are you talking about? Search announcement trailer for GoT and show me the gameplay you speak of.
@cuccamunga I laid out my reasons and plenty of rational people didn't necessarily agree but understood why I have my concerns. If you can't watch the video, understand that not everyone is going to think like you, that's not my problem. Have a good day
Yeah good points, games take SO long to make now, with each flop being revealed it could be like half a decade for them to course correct if they ever do.
I had a feeling from how the first game ended even though I didn’t play the directors cut version with the DLC, that they were leaning towards kind of a one and done game for Jin. Maybe he’ll show up as a side character on her travels and they’ll be a story mission around him that would be pretty cool. But I’m still pretty happy we are getting another Ghost game, even though I’d like to see more. Since this takes place in 1603, firearms by this point have historically influenced Japanese warfare to a significant degree. Maybe we’ll see more advanced weaponry and firearms to make use of, that would be pretty neat. And whatever this game does, gonna be a whole lot better than that disgrace Assassin’s Creed Shadows. They can’t even animate a sword properly being sheathed. 🙄😒
Due to how many years have passed, Jin won't show up, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's spoken of with legendary fame or infamy. We don't even know who this new character is. She could be a descendant of Jin's for all we know.
They could've just used Yuna. She was a fantastic, multilayered character that was also a total badass. Them throwing her away shows they are blank slating this new character. Doesn't bode well. oh and Jean Reno in onimusha
I am far from woke, so I hate woman characters when forced but Onna-musha and Onna-Bugeisha did exist. So that’s not a problem that she’s a woman in this game.
@@playnicegamesI don't want to diss those long since past but I feel they didn't try to fight invaders with katana and out in the open. I also wonder how succesful they were at combat. I can believe a woman being like a vigilante doing her own thing for story. They'll need to explain how she is able to fight men without being ragdolled.
I don't know if you're aware, but the size of a man is irrelevant when his torso is cut by an extremely sharp sword. You can find on RUclips some competitions where various men who are trained in martial arts are put in different challenges. Most of them didn't do well against a guy with just a knife. They got 2 wins out of 5, ONE guy got 3 wins. A win was "you wouldn't have died." The knife challenge is called "The Shank Tank"
@@AzayBae This is set 400 years after Tsushima, so it's not invaders. The audio in the trailer indicates she's being hunted by ronin. It's set in the far far north of Hokkaido. Ghost of Tsushima was never historically accurate. The katana themselves are proof of that. Sucker Punch never claimed they were going for historical, they were going for "Kurosawa film" tone. Considering Japan has gory classics like Lady Snowblood from the 70s, where a woman is raised with the sole purpose of killing the men who raped, imprisoned, and left her mother to die during childbirth in prison, a woman being hunted by ronin for something feels very much in the vein of samurai cinema that Tsushima was inspired by.
I honestly would have liked to see gameplay and a little bit of where the story is going to go I hope we get something at game awards or at least more information
@@TheVisitorSNAFUcompletely agree. This will be a collection of stories about fictional Japanese swordsmen across Japanese history and locations. It seems to me that she will be a ronin. Not formally trained, with no alliance to a family or political party.
Im like a shark 🦈 when they smell blood in the water, when it comes to sniffing out problematic games. They need to play alittle defense and transparency to assuage fans questions and doubts if theres nothing to worry about.
Look up onna-musha, they were the "female samurai" of that time period, they were not named samurai but were held to the same standards as them. They fought in battles with samurais and were often guards to a female of a high status. In case you forget we have an entire storyline in the first game with Lady Masako, so do some research first.
It is sad that in today’s age a female protagonist is considered a bad thing to see by many, especially when the actress back’s up that thought with her own bs rhetoric. Never used to be that way, people liked Lara Croft, till they changed her, Jill Valentine started the game with a gun, making her the popular start. There have been many others and no one ever seemed to care. Now they just seem to purposely find a member of the man hating women club to front all these projects, you know because we all have to be lectured to about some message no one cares about when playing a damn video game or watching tv shows. I wish these people would just get over themselves, none of them are that important in the grand scheme of things, and I just would like to get to a point where we can get excited about good content again. I don’t care if the main character is black, female, or some out of space green skinned blue haired bull lesbian, I just wanna play a good game or watch a good movie, without all the one sided political lecturing that these people only know how to do.
@@jeancarlostaveras5726 well, no one cares anymore about Tomb Raider, they ruined Lara Croft. She never really was a "girl boss" she was a female character that people liked.
If Sucker Punch is smart, they’ll do like Ubisoft and pull the game for re-tooling. I don’t think that they can (or would, if they could), but it would be a good idea…
People were mad about Yasuke rightfully, but everyone ignores that there is no such thing as a female ronin or samurai. There were a handful of famous Japanese woman warriors (Tomoe Gozen being the most famous one) but they weren't ronin or samurai like the trailer seems to imply / claim. There was absolutely no reason to make her a female warrior. Female warriors also generally didn't use swords to fight much for obvious reasons (reach/strength), bow and arrow + naginata (spear) were most common. So now we're playing a woman who goes around beating up much bigger dudes while dual wielding Katana's ... Nah, what? For me one of the coolest parts of Ghost was also collecting all the cool armors. You know what doesn't look the same? A slender female figure in Samurai armor. Lastly, the mocap actress is someone who writes tweets like "Some guy tried to flirth with me at the arcade, and my girlfrield a real "THEMfatale" (so is she a girl.. or ?) threatened them and scared them away" (paraphrasing). Lastly, I'm just really, really sick and tired of every game, show and movie "absolutely needing" to have a woman protagonist. If it was successful with a male lead, the sequel is practically guaranteed to be a woman now. Like it's not enough that we already have tons of strong female characters (Yuna, Lady Masako, Tomoe) In fact in Ghost we basically only really have female warrior allies.
Even Tomoe Gozen... whether she is an actual historical character is unknown. The tale of the genji is a mix of fiction and legend. For all we know, she might be something like falstaff from Shakespeare's Henry V, perhaps based on a real person but exaggerated. Or maybe completely fabricated.
Ghost of Tsushima wasn't based on historical fact. It was an homage game to samurai cinema, specifically Kurosawa films. The JAPANESE made Lady Snowblood. Yotei follows in that vein.
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekery yeah, I think this game took inspiration from Lady Snowblood and Kill Bill. Apparently some people just can't accept that a woman is capable of killing many dudes even though it's just a video game lol
Maybe they could do something with Jin like maybe he is an ancestor of this new character and he is the spirit that guides her with the wind just like jins father did the same I think Sucker Punch could still make a good story with this new time skip
I don't care if it's a female protagonist but she better be interesting and not be a Mary Sue. Even Jin had his weak points so if she is invincible we will have some issues here.
The first trailer for GoT had the foreboding of facing down the mongol invasion, the people suffering because of it, and the main villain narrarating how scary this shit was. Jin was being insulted for not being strong enough and he returns with an angry glare with his sword out. It doesn't have him killing or fighting anyone, just training and standing with determination. I don't know if this girl will earn the same strength the way Jin did. I don't know if this trailer depicts a back against the wall wounded warrior, she seems to be strong already🤷🏾♂️.
Your reaction says it all, you looked disappointed during that reveal. Im not excited for anything anymore. Luckily im on pc where im just playing older games.
I’d still rather play Ghost of Yotei over Assassin’s Creed shadows anyday. Even if the VA is not the friendliest. At least Ghost doesn’t improperly animate a sword going into a sheath. 😂
A female protagonist with an original story with a well written plot is NOT woke. You can't just judge a game being woke just because they used a female protagonists, I mean there have been many games in the past with female protagonists with excellent storyline with original ideas so why isn't anyone yapping about it ? Give this game time and a chance to prove itself once it comes out and then judge
Not according to Erika Ishii. For her you are a male with a lot of privilages. She hates the industry, her ideas will be on the game, that's for sure! Such as in Mortal Kombat, Dragon Age, and many other things!
The game looks interesting, so I'm willing to wait and see as more info comes out. However, the main actress' behavior on Twitter/X does make me concerned. But regardless, I think we should all wait and see.
Okay THIS HERE is a take I can appreciate. I honestly would like to see some dialogue and some gameplay to know for sure if I'm going to enjoy this game or not because I am going to get it. Personally, I think the game might be good because Sucker Punch has yet to miss with anything they made, but the trailer feels like it was rushed, and Sony wanted something to hype up the crowd after the bullshit that was the PS5 pro. Idgaf about twitter drama because people will sit and say anything on the internet because they can, besides Erika Ishii's work on other projects and she seems like a solid actor, she's no Daisuke Tsuji (Jin Sakai) but she is decent all the same. I understand your feelings and I get that most of the fans (me included) wanted to see our boi THEE Ghost make a comeback, but I'm fine with there being a new protagonist, I just hope they don't fuck it up like Sony fucked up the last few games.
It is true for sure Sucker Punch has yet to miss which is why I'm still open minded. Just generally a bit concerned. We definitely need to see more. The trailer leaves is with more questions than answers
I’m fine with the lady swordsman protagonist angle, just let it be a good game. However that English dub actress has a red flag that’s glowing brighter than a Castle Bravo H-bomb.
I do not care the gender of the person I play. (as long as i am sexy or strong, aka the opposite of my real life :D but I can not stand being thought what I should believe and think. so that is why this game is a big hmmmmm in my view
Sucker Punch has shown they can craft a good story without falling back on modern politics. The fact that the protagonist is female doesn’t say anything about the game’s quality. But yeah the actress does look questionable and hopefully that doesn’t bleed into the game’s direction. There is not much more you can do with the GoT plot and characters, so I think it’s great to go to a new era and location in Japanese history.
they should give us the 1 chapter like a demo .. or the first hour of gameplay + i hope that they check on the Atsu Woman who blocks everyone .. im worried now .. even if i wanna buy it.
Yo, loved your review! It's true. It's just mid and try hard. A woman ronin with the Niten Ichi Ryu out of Hokkaido. It's just...hard to believe. Maybe if there wasn't another million Girl boss games coming out at the same time, maybe I wouldn't be so harsh on it...but the premise is a hard stretch. If she had a naginata and a bad sake addiction? Okay now we're talking.
Besides the women thing which i dont like hoping for Jin is dumb to me. His story is done. And if you were paying attentiin hus game was in 1274 this one says 1603 239 years later. Jin is long dead now. Also if you care for Japan history 1603 is the beginning of the Tokugawa Shogunate which rulled till 1868
I can't take these western devs anymore... they had one win with the first game but now they HAD to put a stronk female as a protagonist in the second one...🤦

Being mad at a protagonist just because they are female while BEING a female yourself is crazyyyy, especially when the female is better looking then you lol
No, crazy is tryingt to virtue signal while belittling someone for having a different opinion then attacking their looks. The protagonist being a woman makes little sense, there is no such thing as a female ronin or samurai. Her dual weilding swords makes no sense. Her mocap actress is a horrible person. And there is absolutely NO need for yet another girl boss going around beating up guys 4 times her size while dual wielding katanas. Everyone is sick and tired of the same stronk woman trope.
@@3choblast3r4 so let me just disprove every point you made. So, I only made the point that she looks better then her because Cassie was calling the character “ugly” or “mid”. Second, there is a female samurai that existed in history, history classes or a simple google search will tell you this. And third, she’s not a horrible person because she has different political views than you. Grow up.
I had the same reaction when I saw it. I don't care if it's not woke, if it is good, if people call me a sexist or a bigot: I don't wanna play as a 5 feet woman slashing dudes twice her size in feudal Japan! As a wise man once said, ''FUCK THIS SHIT I'M OUT''.
And whats up with all the "right minded, good people" that get so triggered when i say im not buying this game now and label me a misogynistic incel 😂😂😂😂
The artist's know what there doing female protagonist's work great for stealthy assassin type games big grunty meat heads would draw too much attention and the Japanese law man would put wanted posters up across the whole of the island.
So your problem.......is that it's a woman????? Why???? You were never going to get Jin Sakai back, this is 300 years into the future. And how can you say this new character is mid when you haven't even heard her speak? You literally know nothing about her.
No, the problem is Erika Ishii and her ideas. She's a bisexual gargoyle. And the industry sucks because we are a bunch of white males with privilages. So...
It's a shame that a female protagonist is now a red flag for a product's quality. This is the world the woke has brought us, where they've burned audiences so many times with terrible, terrible games, movies, and shows, that literally millions of people who wouldn't think twice about having a woman or black person leading suddenly think... hm... As it is, Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece, so I think the developer has a store of trust to work with. Let's see if they squander it.
I loved the first game. But I didn't like Jin. I don't play many female protagonists but I'm happy with the change of character. I actually preferred some of the female characters in the first game to Jin. This is personal to me. I can understand disappointment for fans of Jin. I'm satisfied that the Jin storyline is complete.
Ghost of Yotei is an easy pass for me, devs at Sucker Punch having pronouns in their bios, purposely hiring a. Radical far left activists that's all over her X page, and has done LGBT shows, as the main character, this will be Spider Man 2 and Alan Wake 2 all over again.

I say play the damn game then decide! Some mystical wizard 💩 saying that “you don’t like the direction” of a 4 min trailer 😂
@@kgrass976We don't need to play the game to decide. The entire point of watching trailers and gameplay demos is to help make a decision on whether or not you want to buy games.
@@kgrass976Same thing with reviews.
@@kgrass976we've been down this road how many times now? It's 2024. There is zero good faith left and no more benefit if the doubt should be given to these kinds of things. Obviously we can't completely judge the game yet, but guard rails should be up and I understand people expecting the worst.
I am excited for this game and I will judge the female character based on the writing
Who cares if a game is about a female character? I’m gonna play it. And I don’t wanna see no how dare you say this, or that. The game companies will make games the way they want to. Point blank period. Star Wars outlaws. Yeah the game is buggy. I enjoyed the STORY. (I’m NOT a video game critic.
@@JCSW1997 saying 'i don't care about the character, I care about the story' sounds pretty insane. 💀 Do you also play games on the easiest difficulty? I mean, the story difficulty?
Funny enough I think this game’s announcement not only scared Ubisoft into a delay but TGS told them to emphatically “GET OUT”
Bro after the broken Tori Gate reference in AC Shadow marketing, Ubisoft is one foot in the grave with this game sheesh 💀
Yea an now Sony say they wanna expand the universe
3:33 his story is done tho theres nothing left for him to do
Im fine with it. It its going to be 300 years appart. If you feel like that cass it is what it is, i disagree but its whatever

Absolutely!

Seeing Cass immediately slump in her chair was perfect XP
The only thing Sucker Punch Studios should always do is to what they have learned from their previous entry and what they could've done to make it better than GoT like making her playstyle different from Jin to a certain degree I think it's the most suggested choice make the character stand out from Jin yada yada yada.
How can someone be mid if you don't even know them yet? There was no gameplay shown when Ghost of Tsushima was announced so what are you talking about? Search announcement trailer for GoT and show me the gameplay you speak of.
Defend it now before it comes out to be garbage
To act like first impressions aren't important let alone don't exist is wild
@@CultClassicCage To act like first impressions can't be baseless, short-sighted, and brought into question is even more wild.
I was totally deflated too. Jin's only been in 1 game, so he's a new character. Now he's been ditched for this new character. Sucks bigtime
They could've just used Yuna. She was a fantastic, multilayered character that was also a total badass. Them throwing her away shows they are blank slating this new character. Doesn't bode well. oh and Jean Reno in onimusha
100 lbs woman cutting grown men down with a sword. This game is doomed.
@@AzayBaethey would go into battles along side samurai and often fought invaders
So funny to see the reaction! I swear we had the exact same face!!! 🤣 It warms My heart to see people who can see through the BS
That's okay I pissed off the wokies for being honest
I honestly would have liked to see gameplay and a little bit of where the story is going to go I hope we get something at game awards or at least more information
It’s not a sequel and she’s not a samurai
You're blind if you think they're not making this a sequel, it clearly is. Ghost is the important part, not whatever part of Japan.

It seems to me that she will be a ronin. Not formally trained, with no alliance to a family or political party.
@TheVisitorSNAFU agreed, it's like saying Logan is a sequel to Deadpool, or Rogue One a sequel to The Force Awakens
I don’t care if the main character is black, female, or some out of space green skinned blue haired bull lesbian, I just wanna play a good game or watch a good movie, without all the one sided political lecturing that these people only know how to do.
girl bosses are limited, nobody cares about horizon or tomb raider
@@jeancarlostaveras5726 well, no one cares anymore about Tomb Raider, they ruined Lara Croft. She never really was a "girl boss" she was a female character that people liked.
If Sucker Punch is smart, they’ll do like Ubisoft and pull the game for re-tooling. I don’t think that they can (or would, if they could), but it would be a good idea…
The only kind of retooling they could do is gameplay and we barely saw any gameplay.
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekeryNoone asked
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekerythe first mongol invasion was a historical fact and that’s what the setting was for the first game what are you talking about.
🔥

Yeah, I only cared about a sequel, because I thought I’d get to be Jin again.
I’m fine with the lady swordsman protagonist angle, just let it be a good game. However that English dub actress has a red flag that’s glowing brighter than a Castle Bravo H-bomb.
I'll wait for more trailers or news to come out so I can judge if the character is like Blue Eye Samurai or Last of Us part 2
Would like more Jin, but as long as character is well written I am on board.

What an L take.
@@3choblast3r4 so let me just disprove every point you made. So, I only made the point that she looks better then her because Cassie was calling the character “ugly” or “mid”.

So...
not bothered by the female protagonist, just don't care for the english voice actor. will see if they end up doing the Japanese dub as well.
