The more I see the original Shrek design, the more I warm up to it. Seeing it in action, I find it quite charming. And it's nice to know that it always was going to be full of anachronistic music choices. I hope they have some nod to this when Shrek 5 gets made, if only using "I Feel Good" in the soundtrack.

Well… Dreamworks was right… This does kinda suck. But damn… the animation quality is REALLY something… Certainly not as powerful as the engine they actually used on Shrek but for 1996 this kind of animation with this level of lighting must have been absolutely otherworldly. I wish there was more animation out there of this early design. It’s a truly fever-dreamish glimpse at what this film could have been
Watch los Gringos. It was made by the same people to prove that they can do good animation after dreamworks fired them. It is more polished but has the relatively same artstyle

@michaelbullen3104 I think it was just to prove something. The crew made a studio called bonk Pictures that didn't last very long. However a lot of the people on Los gringos apparently had huge opportunities in the future because of the test.
