Bowmount or stern mount motor? Or both!
I would get both. Reason: The bow mount motor is designed to be used once your at point A. The stern motor is designed to get you to point A. Also, the circuit breaker for the Bowmount motor needs to be as close to the Battery as possible.
I have an Xi3 on my Unlimited and I sourced the mount, parts, battery, miscellany separately. Total cost was ~$2k for everything. All depends if you want to pay a premium for the convenience of not keeping track of multiple orders etc.
Looking forward to see how she does! Great info.
Good tip on the selection for Secretary of State appointment. The first time I did this I was so lost trying to find it on the appointment reason 😂
One thing I thought of is instead of buying an entire hole saw kit a guy might be better off getting a set of the step drills from HF and just go to size you need. Believe they have them in a 2 piece kit for like 15 or 20 bucks.
I love having the motorguide on the front of my titanx. I used the same kit. The release chord hole doesnt really let a lot of water in. I have the same battery that power queen has only used about 40% on a full day of heavy use so far.
The release pedal just pulls down on a linkage that you can hook directly to and pull the cable straight back instead of down so that you don't have to run it through the plate.
Hey man great video. One word of advice, those gray MotorGuide plugs weren’t great for me. I had them on my old kayak that had an XI3 setup ready to go. The gray rubber/plastic melted after its second season. No loose wiring or anything. That would cause that. I think just taking them in and out over time.
Hmmm…. Thanks for the heads up!
I sold my PA14 360 (main reason was the 360 drive which is garbage) and got the Titan x, that was a big mistake, I hate the drive , hate the wet ride and the seat is not even close as comfortable as the hobie I’m 280lb. I bought the PA14 180 and is amazing and reliable. Titan x is for sale.
Drive took a minute to get used to, but I like it now. Definitely not as good a feeling as a fin drive. Same with the seat, needs more cushion. Overall I'm really happy with it, but I hear you.
@@aaanglers I wish I could have test it before buy , I guess you live and learn.
If you have the 12.5x, two minis fit in the batt box and you can have 200ah for the trolling motor.
There is the same loom covering but has heat shrink inside. That way you don't need zip ties. It's ment for these types of things.
You really should have the breaker next the the battery.
Hey AAA, California you register you kayak with motor at the CA DMV, also, there is another quick release bracket by Ketch... awesome vid...
Great setup and video
thanks!
I agree, it's nicer to just to buy the kit. Less of a headache. :)
If you need just about anything when it comes to larger gauge wiring try your local car audio shop. If you still have any of those around that is. If not try the car audio section at Best Buy.
Car section is a great call. No more audio shops in my area.
How did your Motor Guide XI3 deployment and retrievel work for you with the Native kit? I have the small bungee cord compressing the XI3 coiled cable and wasnt sure if I still needed it. If yours works good without I would probably just get rid of mine. Thanks, you guys have a great channel.
no issues with this set up!
In Florida to register your boat, you need to go to your local county tax collector/ dmv office.
Just did a XI3 front mount on my Hobie pa14. Full cost was about 1800. XI3 1,172$ (amazon resale department) 8 gauge marine wire 24$ , power queen mini 100ah 246$, Anderson plugs 12$, wire crimp tool wire lugs Kit 30$, battery charger 63$, breaker 17$, generic Chinese copy XI3 mounting bracket 55$, one objective mount 150$. Took me about two beers worth of time to source all the parts I needed. Totally understand if people just want a kit. But you can save a ton of money if you find all the parts. I use amazon resale department a lot. The xi3 was just a damaged box still brand new. Just a fyi for people. Titan looks sick my brother is getting his this weekend.
NICE!
get the grass cutting blade for it, and the prop nut balancer and its golden. very rarely have to pull any weeds off of mine
Do you have links? Which blade?
@@aaanglers MotorGuide 8M4004173 Katana... www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZS639TW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@aaanglers its not letting me post links but its the motorguide katana blade. and the camoo eliminater prop nut.
Got it, I will order those asap! Thanks!
Question, If you could only have one motor would you mould it on the front or the rear of the boat? someone said it's more efficient on the front so I don't know?
More about how you use it, if you want speed for transportation go NK300, If you want less speed w/ remote control/spot lock go xi3
Like Paul said, depends on your needs. Big lake or river, nk300. Small to medium lakes I prefer xi3
Hey Jeff, any experience with those power queen batteries? Price seems too good to be true.
Used the 100 amp hour for a month and a half now. Runs all day no issues!
Replace the atwood connectors asap, go either anderson connector or marinco 70amp connector and receptacle
Also 55lb thrust motor popped my 60 amp breaker and installed a70amp
You register a Kayak, with or without a motor, at the BMV in Ohio.
If all you want to fish is lakes than that’s a good fit. When I spend my money on a kayak I want a yak that can go in lakes and ocean. Native isn’t going in no ocean unless you want it on the bottom of the ocean.
Took my titan x 12.5 beyond the breakers in the gulf no issues.
