Hi Coach Aimee been watching your vlogs. Anyway my daughter highest test level is pre preliminary free skate. And highest MIF TEST IS preliminary. So by understanding your explanation she can compete on preliminary level?right? No need to get tested ?reason why I asked it’s because her doubles are still inconsistent and we wanted to give it a try hoping you notice my question.

Singles Free Skate tests are the prerequisite test to competing a certain level. And Moves in the Field (Skating Skills) tests are the prerequisite test for taking the same level Singles Free Skate test.
As she has passed Preliminary Moves, she can test Preliminary Singles Free Skate, if she is ready. Doubles are not required for Preliminary Singles Free Skate. The requirements for Preliminary Singles Free Skate are: One waltz jump or single Axel, three different single or allowable double jumps, and one two-jump or three-jump combination, two different spins (upright, sit spin, and/or camel spin), and one full ice step sequence.
Currently she can skate Pre-Preliminary Singles or up one level to Preliminary..
If she has passed Preliminary Singles Free Skate, she can still compete at the same levels (as long as she has not entered a series in EMS - such as Excel Series - at a higher level). She could also skate up to Pre-Juvenile (which will be called Pre-Bronze in July).

Hi. There is a “proposal” in the current 22/23 rule book that states they may change the age cut off dates from September 1 to July 1 for Juvenile and Intermediate levels. Do you know when they will make this decision? NQS is only a few months away.

I believe that last year at Governing Council, they delayed the July 1st age requirement until the coming 2023-24 season. If you log in to Members Only, under Compete -> Qualifying Competitions, you will find the information for the coming season. However, the athlete handbook has not been published yet. They have a webinar scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET to discuss registration details and frequently asked questions - you can register from Members Only -> HOME -> COMPETE -> QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS

So the only time they can compete in a lower level are when they don’t register in a series?

    •  Год назад +2

Not really because if you registered for a series under your singles free skate test level than that lower level would be your competitive floor. For example, say that you passed Senior Singles Free Skate, but register for Excel as Junior. In that case Junior is your minimum competitive level.

What would happen in a scenario where an adult skater who cannot skate down signs up for a competition *before* taking a free skate test at whatever level, then happens to sign up for a free skate test *after* they already signed up for a competition. The test date is only a couple days before the competition date, and the skater ends up passing the free skate test. Is the level the skater can compete at determined at the time of competition sign up? Or must the adult skater contact the competition chair to try to change levels a few days before the competition? Asking for a friend…..

Unfortunately, once an adult passes a test, they must compete at that level, regardless of the date of the competition entry. I would recommend that adults either hold off on testing until after the competition or skate up one level.

Oh wow, I didn’t expect a reply so quickly, thank you! I guess I’ll see if I can get my competition level category changed which fingers crossed I hope they can do cause both levels are on the same day/same warm up. My club doesn’t have tests often so when we saw it we jumped on it without considering the competition and now I’m here 😅
