I am a naturalist. Nature heals and invigorates me. I’ve recently made friends with a deer. Her name is Honey, named so for her love of eating my honeysuckle. She comes daily to my yard and I graciously feed her sourdough bread, apples, biscuits, and oatmeal pancakes. I sit on the ground and let her come to me. I hand feed her and pet her nose. One time she got so close I could’ve kissed her. I feel so very connected to her.

I just went on a whale watch out of Boston two weeks ago and we were so lucky to have a naturalist on board our ship. She was incredibly knowledgeable and made our journey the best it could've been! We saw almost twenty-five Humpback whales that day and because of her we learned about their groups, their habitat within the ocean sanctuary and even their ages and names. I highly recommend seeking out a naturalist on your next nature journey!
@@j.b.4340 I'm familiar wiuth the tour that @NYWildflower was referencing. Yes, they may know what is "in the books" BUT these are people that are from NOAA and other wildlife foundations. Since the whales are not on a "Schedule" these naturalists also must go by their own EXPERIENCES from their own research, etc. that they have gone through to be considered a Nature Guide. These guides will ALSO talk about other species (whales, dolphins, sea birds, etc) that are seen and are very in-tune to anything that they may see out there.

As an autistic I have always had great difficulty adjusting to life in general. When my parents were still alive we used to have a house in the city and a house off grid, where would would spend half our time and also the only place I was at peace and could be myself. My mother was very soft spoken, your videos remind me of all these beautiful moments, thank you.

I have been a hunter for many years, something I am very proud and grateful of, I absolutely love this channel. If you ever need help getting nearer to the animals let me know. As a hunter people don’t realise how much we not only understand nature but how much we respect it. Pick some clothes that you are happy with, take in consideration the area you are going to, when you shower in the morning don’t use scented soap, and no perfume, don’t was the clothes until end of season. Then use unscented cleaner. Always approach so the wind is in your face never the other way
Do you show your respect killing the animals for fun? When the human race will understand we can be part of nature without the need to dominate it, it will always be too late. Try going in the wood without your rifle; perhaps you'll see that you don't need it to have a reason to be there.
I always loved being in the wild, hiking and camping. Later on in life became a hunter and found out your senses sharpens when hunting, it’s like pulling of filters and opening up. You’re more aware of your surroundings, it’s like connecting to older instincts from the time we lived of the land. I could just sit and taking everything that was happening around me. I had been joining a friend hunting but not carrying a gun, so not actively hunting myself but that hadn’t triggered the heightened senses. It was later on as I passed my hunter license tests and actively hunted that this occurred. Hunted mostly seabirds and occasionally deer. Shot very few birds and no deer at all because there where not many sea birds worth of hunting (as food) and never had a clean shot om deer (I only shoot when I know I will make a killing shot). I stopped hunting because I don’t like killing animals if I don’t need the meat (I don’t) but I do understand why some people hunt. It like something old and basic awakens in you, your senses suddenly heightens and you are in the now, focused like you never been before. Now I rather hunt with a camera, or just walk thru a forest listening to the sounds and taking in all the different scents. Some people look down on hunters and call them killers. Some are, they only hunt for the kill and trophy. But some do it because that’s what we where and still are: hunters & collectors. It’s in our genes. Humanity wouldn’t had existed without those skills.

I fully understand what you are saying but the rush of " the heightened senses" doesn't entitle us to take the life of animals, as we don't do it with other humans. Nor our genes can justify us. You could say the same for war, sexual predation, rape, incest... yet, humanity has evolved and has new moral standards. Animals should be included in these standards. We are not entitled. We are not superior. We share a planet, that's all.

She isn't out in the deep forest, the light poles can be seen. My guess it's a floodlit trail. Wikipedia: "An floodlit trail (Norwegian: Lysløype) (Swedish: Elljusspår) is an electrically illuminated trail, often completely or partly in a forest." A bit peculiar that someone else was up at that time walking it but the location wasn't strange.

That last tip is very true. I see so many foreigners be afraid of coming to Australia, of being in the bush. The biggest danger to you in Australia is yourself. It's probably different with big cats or things that actively hunt humans, but snakes and spiders? You can literally walk away.

Hello Dani, I started following you just a week ago, I enjoy your videos, photographs, music, scene and your own story. I hope to go back for years and watch all the videos you have. I feel I have “discovered” you. I don’t actually follow anyone specifically, I follow animals and nature, regreening, rewilding, regeneration. Those are my main interests. Love how you speak about your squirrels. I think your videos are so different because you present yourself in an honest way, when you are excited, tired or other. I also admire your attitude which feeds my dreams and make them look more real. How big is the gofundme land? I feel inspired by you.
When I was very young I was outdoors way more than inside, not unusual for farm boys of my generation. Looking and being amazed is where it started. Then I got hooked on the golden guides and the field guides. I could not tolerate snakes but everything else, plant or animal I wanted to name. Birds especially excited me, first the local birds but then the other birds in the field guides. It was my luck that in their fifties my parents and I spent about three weeks a year camping out west and down south. In college I decided on biology and became attached to the main entomologist there. So here I am retired and back at what I did as a boy this time with one eye on the wonder of it all and the other eye on trying to learn and expand on what is known about the creatures around . Unfortunately my young legs are gone and I am stuck here most of the time. The internet has opened up worlds to me that I could have hardly guessed would exist and I have started to work as a Wikipedia contributor.

Hello Dani, we humans are part of nature and need nature. But we want to control them and thereby distance ourselves from nature. That's the wrong way. Nature is stronger than us humans and will simply get us out of the way if we "disrupt". And this is where you come in. You show us what nature looks like and how it works. Especially your last tip about not fearing nature is a prerequisite. You explain very well what can happen when meeting different animals and how we should interpret their behavior. This is something we should all know if we weren't so far removed from nature. For my part, I love the walks through nature and the animals and plants that I can observe and of course also photograph. It is important to be careful and not to destroy or disturb anything. Thank you for these wonderful videos and the hard work behind them. Hopefully, with your help, mankind will be able to live in harmony with nature again. Awesome vid and point of view. I spend so much time in nature, most of the time, busy taking care of the land, chores, building, repairing. However, there is always a time in the day or night where I go in the forest to take a 10 minute walk, which turns out into 1 hour, sometimes 2! Even in -20C, I've stopped during a night hike and took a 10 min nap on a dead tree with 30cm snow on it. It was just surreal. Been doing this for 20 years and never tired of it. I'm a ''go fast'' person all the time person, except for when I walk in the woods. It is my meditation time, walking so slow and contemplating my forest which I've seen so many times. But it changes and there is always something new, different or evolving. Like you say, watch for the tracks. There are so many and it's nice to think about how the inhabitants roam here when you see those tracks.

trekking in thr RMK Estonian forest , setting up camp in a clearing , the moss was two feet thick and as comfortable as a foam mattress .....unforgettable
HI Dani a long time ago when I was about 25yrs old I was playing golf but not well and I hit my ball into a large stone dove cot it was about 20ft high and and about 8ft wide circular to get in there was a little arch close to 3ft high anyway I got in and picked up my ball then I. heard this noise like scratching then I saw this absolutely incredible sight it was two butterflies and I think they were mating. I felt very privileged so as silently as I could I left them to their amorous enjoyment I have never seen anything like it since and now I am 78yrs old I hope they had a fruit barring and happy life.
You, yes you, are just a smidge more gorgeous than work, videography, etc.. that you put out! I’m a big fan!! I was married to a South African for 12+ years, so the accent mesmerizes me. Yours is so simply smooth and so softly attractive!
Beautiful video! I am only happy when in nature. I understand animal behavior and I love them very much. I have a blind possum as a pet who is amazing and such a great pet! Also 2 bunnies and 2 large dogs. And about 20 squirrels who come for food daily.

When I was very young I was outdoors way more than inside, not unusual for farm boys of my generation. Looking and being amazed is where it started. Then I got hooked on the golden guides and the field guides. I could not tolerate snakes but everything else, plant or animal I wanted to name. Birds especially excited me, first the local birds but then the other birds in the field guides. It was my luck that in their fifties my parents and I spent about three weeks a year camping out west and down south. In college I decided on biology and became attached to the main entomologist there. So here I am retired and back at what I did as a boy this time with one eye on the wonder of it all and the other eye on trying to learn and expand on what is known about the creatures around . Unfortunately my young legs are gone and I am stuck here most of the time. The internet has opened up worlds to me that I could have hardly guessed would exist and I have started to work as a Wikipedia contributor.

Hello Dani, we humans are part of nature and need nature. But we want to control them and thereby distance ourselves from nature. That's the wrong way. Nature is stronger than us humans and will simply get us out of the way if we "disrupt".
And this is where you come in. You show us what nature looks like and how it works. Especially your last tip about not fearing nature is a prerequisite. You explain very well what can happen when meeting different animals and how we should interpret their behavior. This is something we should all know if we weren't so far removed from nature.
For my part, I love the walks through nature and the animals and plants that I can observe and of course also photograph. It is important to be careful and not to destroy or disturb anything.
Thank you for these wonderful videos and the hard work behind them. Hopefully, with your help, mankind will be able to live in harmony with nature again.

Awesome vid and point of view. I spend so much time in nature, most of the time, busy taking care of the land, chores, building, repairing. However, there is always a time in the day or night where I go in the forest to take a 10 minute walk, which turns out into 1 hour, sometimes 2! Even in -20C, I've stopped during a night hike and took a 10 min nap on a dead tree with 30cm snow on it. It was just surreal. Been doing this for 20 years and never tired of it. I'm a ''go fast'' person all the time person, except for when I walk in the woods. It is my meditation time, walking so slow and contemplating my forest which I've seen so many times. But it changes and there is always something new, different or evolving. Like you say, watch for the tracks. There are so many and it's nice to think about how the inhabitants roam here when you see those tracks.

It's helpful to where camouflage dresses too😊 amazing how the forest there has so little brush and forest debris on the ground.

trekking in thr RMK Estonian forest , setting up camp in a clearing , the moss was two feet thick and as comfortable as a foam mattress .....unforgettable
HI Dani a long time ago when I was about 25yrs old I was playing golf but not well and I hit my ball into a large stone dove cot it was about 20ft high and and about 8ft wide circular to get in there was a little arch close to 3ft high anyway I got in and picked up my ball then I. heard this noise like scratching then I saw this absolutely incredible sight it was two butterflies and I think they were mating. I felt very privileged so as silently as I could I left them to their amorous enjoyment I have never seen anything like it since and now I am 78yrs old I hope they had a fruit barring and happy life.

Beautiful video! I am only happy when in nature. I understand animal behavior and I love them very much. I have a blind possum as a pet who is amazing and such a great pet! Also 2 bunnies and 2 large dogs. And about 20 squirrels who come for food daily.
