Wow this made my day my parents always had a wagon from when i was born a 66 tempest wagon , 70 kingswood estate wagon 73 impala wagon, 87 caprice estate wagon and the last one they owned 96 roadmaster wagon. I miss wagons !
I love wagons! My friend had a 71 plymouth satellite wagon orange w/wood sides. 383 magnum 4spd pistol grip, 3.55 posi. dual rally wheels, exhaust chrome tips, all original. special ordered.
This is an ancient video, but still great to see. I joined the ASWOA a long time ago, but let my membership lapse after a few years. I never owned a station wagon, but my parents had two of them in a row. They bought a `72 Chrysler Town & Country, new. Then in `75 they traded it in on a new one. Same model but different color. The `75 started rusting out by the time it was 4 years old, maybe even 3 years old. They traded it in on a used van in `79, the year before I started driving. I miss those Town & Countries though.
My aunt Betty had a '75 or '76 T&C and a free pass to the Lake Champlain ferries for her car and anyone in it. Our record was 11 people, six adults and 5 kids. She traded it for a new '83 Ford Escort wagon and the owner of the gas station she always used said he had to let a guy go. Currently I have a Honda Fit which is legally classed a "Small Station Wagon" by the EPA although it was marketed as a hatchback. Masses of usable space for such a small car though.
We my dad in 69 Las Vegas bought a 69 Chevy Concourse Estate Wagon (Think Chevelle wagon) with the 350hp 350. Even as a kid and later a teenager loved that car. He put the Goodyear Wide Oval 60 series on all four! I remember the time my dad floored-it to pass a car and there was a big thump, the dealer said we broke the motor-mount, they installed new designed mounts that wouldn't separate from the torque. I was supposed to get the car when I turned 16 but the Air Force transferred us from AZ to Germany and it got sold with lots of other cool stuff my motorcycle a dune buggy. I have for years looked for one like it but never found a good one. Also looked for a 1960 Chrysler Windsor Wagon, those are rare but have seen the old, stretched airport wagons with all those doors!
My family had three wagons, all Chevies, 55, 57 and 59. Later, my dad had 59 Ford Ranch wagon. I have owned a 06 HHR, presently a restored 84 Olds Custom Cruiser and my daily driver is an 18 Buick Regal TourX.
I was born in 1951 and grew up in a family of six children. Over the years my parents owned 4 station wagon vehicles. These station wagon vehicles were family haulers that were used to transport the entire family and go on family vacations. The station wagons my family had over the years were a 1957 Mercury station wagon, a 1964 Ford Country Sedan station wagon, a 1968 Dodge Polara station wagon, and a 1971 Ford Country Sedan station wagon. It is too bad that station wagon vehicles are not made any more. It looks like they got replaced by mini vans and sports utility vehicles.
Wow that so cool!!!!!!! .Station wagons are my favorite. So happy this video showed up in my suggestions.Iam a1:18 diecast collector. Seeing this video still a lot of station wagons to add to my collection. Thanks a million for posting this video loved the collection❤️❤️❤️
I know he likes his Chryslers very much,,, but ,,, from 1965 on, the Mercury Colony Park was The Lincoln Continental station wagon. Then, The Lincoln Town Car station wagon... A most luxurious station wagon...
Would love to hear more about some of the then-late models. Sable, Corolla, Escort, Legacy - the last is the saddest, Subaru still in 2021 makes a Legacy sedan that the ever-taller Outback outsells at least 20:1 and could offer a sedan-height wagon on a plug-and-play basis but hasn't bothered in over a decade.
I had 2 Legacy wagons: a '94 2.2 litre Turbo and a 2000 with the 2.5. That was just as the "tall wagon" Outback became a separate model and started to overshadow the regular wagon in sales.
I had a 60 Ventura tri-power 4spd, a guy flagged me down and showed me his 60 pontiac wagon, 389 tri-power auto,it was a fire cheifs car in great condition, red of course.
