"Start a revolution with the breath in my lungs." Man I love this. Not a christian but I do love your hip hop. I grew up listening to Mars Ill, Deepspace 5, Verbs, GRITS, Red Cloud, Tunnel Rats...you name em, I listened to em. I still listen to this stuff because it's so much better than the radio junk. Big ups to DJ Dust and Manchild keepin it real in the A!
These cats are 100% pro. I'm amazed that the mainstream has overlooked the body of work over the years. Some of the beats & sample twists Dust comes up with...just pure record digg'en & love of the craft. Great Duo.
This came out while I was in college. Made it out when they filmed the video and got to be one the people in the crowd. Was dope to see dust and manchild perform live in LA.
Man! The first time i heard Mars Ill & Deepspace5 i was like "WHAT, WHO" THat's real HipHop no dout! I've all their albums, i liked them from the day i heard them. True HipHop rught there!
I dig and appreciate these dudes not just for the dope rhymes and beats, but because, despite being christians, they don't shove it down my throat or guilt trip me for not being christian. They're just hiphop kings who happen to sometimes mention their faith, but always in context.
True. A friend got me into them and I wouldn't have known there was that religious element to their music unless he pointed it out to me. But for both of us, the interest was first and foremost on their skills, beats and lyricism.
There are rappers who are christian and there are christian rappers. The problem is that most people can't distinguish the two and think its all the same. Mars Ill is sick and raw material is one of my favorite hip hop albums...they're not pushing a religon but you know what they stand for.
Love these cats..deep space all day.....playdough, freddie bruno, sev statik, my dude sintax the terrific, man child of course (check too strong to change with Cappadonna), the Listener, sivion, dust, and the beat rabbi....let's go.
The worst part about this is when people start attacking ones faith because they absolutely love everything else about the person. Sickening! It's someone(s) literally making an effort to hate.
Is anyone who can tell me the brand of his blue baseball cap with da star?? I wanna get one!! If U know anything about it plz write!!Thx! Anyway:they r awesome. one of my fav song from them
manchild and sintax were in a group togeather called the pride they still do stuff as just the two of them every once in a while i think they had 1 or 2 songs on beat rabbi's deepspace soul
I think Manchild and Sintax Are probably undisputed hip-hop artists from Deepspace 5. I think both of these guys should make a record together because a group of 2 is better than a group of ten. More concentration on illness other than different voice scatter, I know cause thats all I hear on these records. But Mars ill is off the hook.
"speakers can't hold me,no man control me" "start a revolution with the breathe in my lungs" "chew you up and spi-spi-spi-spi-spit cha' oooooooout!!!" manChild and Dust holding it down like obese elephants.
It's sad how we all come here for the same reason (dope emcees) yet we still have to push conflict of some sort. Ridiculous!!! Appreciate the music or don't listen. It really is that simple.
@10lettername interpreting while ignoring the artist's intent is not listening to the artist but yourself...Mars Ill is a a Catholic-Christian..there's no way of CORRECTLY interpreting other than through that lens. When you listen to an artist, be open to listening to their beliefs, otherwise no one is forcing you to press play.... Peace and blessings.
He also sounds like he would be on humblebeast with braille, Odd Thomas, Propaganda, and the rest. Or maybe on lampmode records with Shai Linne, Stephen the levite, Hazakim, and the rest.
@ClearMindDontKnow Yeah, sick underground rappers keepin' it real spittin' da truth in every lyric can't sound bad. Christian myself and man a year ago I didn't know christian rap existed, and now I don't even want to listen to anything else, its just so sick!
I love Dust. This song is almost as big as Spheres. I didn't feel ProPain was quite as good as Raw Material but still... Propain is a must-have for anybody who loves rap but is sick of all the played-out, bouncy-pop, glam rap that is poluting the airwaves these days.
not true :( i wish it were true, unfortunately its not. Look at all the mad good beats and artists at humblebeast and notice they don't have a huge following. Though the following they do have is solid.
He sounds nothing like them. I personally hate Atmosphere and if they sounded alike I would never listen to Mars ILL. Mars ILL is easily one of the best duos out.
Still love this song since the first time I heard it

these guys are still my favorite. so dope.
Mars ILL is awsome. I bump them all the time. Great Hip Hop I can listen with my six year old.
This came out while I was in college. Made it out when they filmed the video and got to be one the people in the crowd. Was dope to see dust and manchild perform live in LA.
Yo! That’s dope! I was one of the guys that put on the show at the lounge, is that where you went for the video?

-Paint The Sky,Blew!!!
I like everything about this song 'cept the line "real hip-hop is christian rap" real hip-hop is just real hip-hop. Nothing more, nothing less.
Manchild''s flow is second to none... Real talk...
What an awesome tune. Good vid too. I love Mars Ill.
this is STILL hot....
Can't get enough of Dust's raw ass sound. He smacks any of the "hot" producers in the face with his SP-1200. POW! sound off.
There are rappers who are christian and there are christian rappers. The problem is that most people can't distinguish the two and think its all the same. Mars Ill is sick and raw material is one of my favorite hip hop albums...they're not pushing a religon but you know what they stand for.
his lines always flow so well, his DJ is sick

Mars ill kills it on the second verse with that fast flow.

I've been a fan since Manchild murdered a track on the I'll state of mind mixtape. Raw material is a hip hop classic.
Their 2006 album "Pro Pain"
Wish these guys were still around.
Manchild roles with a new group called Move Merchants now and DS5 dropped a group EP last year
I know Dust ! :D

What happened to these guys?
+Aaron Osenkarski This is what Dust's been up to now: www.dustbrandfilms.com/
Can anybody say REAL HIP HOP?!
He also sounds like he would be on humblebeast with braille, Odd Thomas, Propaganda, and the rest. Or maybe on lampmode records with Shai Linne, Stephen the levite, Hazakim, and the rest.

Mars Ill is Ill....
@TheTrakkOursoniss
high tech the recon
in some parts of the song does it say "bitch ya outtt"????
spit ya out
I would not even consider Kanye West "conscious hip hop."
@XGCGalia might be alittle late ha..
but dirpy dot com is dope..
Hip hope 2004
everything is everything it's even spelled the same! Are you kidding me?! praise God when His people follow Him!
@phism
not sure if troll
Man even though I think Christianity is a bad thing, this is still dope as fuck
@phism Why would you like someone less just because they follow God?
Wow, I bet you're proud of yourself...
many things matter other than an a christ
underground?
atmosphere is on mtv.
Stop listening to the radio and the wack shit will go away, support your local artists and go out to freestyle battles and more
not true :( i wish it were true, unfortunately its not. Look at all the mad good beats and artists at humblebeast and notice they don't have a huge following. Though the following they do have is solid.
@jesusfreakcody because it's an illogical thing to do.
Kanye West is not what I call conscious music...
what? i just think it's weird to promote the idea that things are real which are not.
Sounds like Timothy Brindle, I like Tim Brindle better.
He sounds nothing like them. I personally hate Atmosphere and if they sounded alike I would never listen to Mars ILL. Mars ILL is easily one of the best duos out.
