Say what you want to about coaching on field. But off the field you can tell the difference with Billy. Players are more disciplined and not getting into trouble because they know he will not let them play just because they are good. He wants the best for these players and truly cares for them more than just players
2 losing seasons in a row
With this schedule, I would be ecstatic with 8W 4L

Josh,it's a trip to here every person who thinks Florida is some bottom teer SEC team, Florida besides Bama is the only team to win there Division and SEC for most of a Decade and a win multiple Nattys and, while we also had Giants out side of conference and in our state
Thanks for the take from 30,000 FT. GG!
I’m sure there are quite a few people here that oppose anything Josh is saying. Napier walked into more that a mess he also walked into a massive change in college football with NIL and the transfer portal. Try navigating your way through trying to recruit players to join your team as well as recruit guys to stay on your team. Make no mistake there are quite a few things he could have cleaned up from the beginning but there’s so much you can do when your hands are a bit tied. I’ll give him credit for building his program the way he wants and not what everyone else wants. Most people are stuck in this instantly gratifying world that it just makes it difficult to reason with anyone. Yeah you can look at some of the top tier teams in the country and point to them having immediate success with their new coaches but Napier did not have that luxury. Coaches before him were not bringing in talent. Look no further than those guys Mullen, McElwain brought in and where they are now. The talent pool was not up to par despite what anyone has to say. He had a few players here and there but most of those guys were individuals who only played for themselves. Florida also had a cultural issue with guys not buying into the program which caused them to leave. Look at most of the people that left the program and where they ultimately ended up. Florida has way more talent this year to go along with experience that will shock the entire world.
God I love the Florida Gators!

I think it is a much finer line between winning conference and getting to the playoffs and struggling to make bowls than many realize. It's kind of like golf at the professional level, if one part of your game goes even a little wobbly that can be the difference between being at the top of the tour and struggling to even stay on tour.
UF alumni and fan for approximately 40 years, but I'm now indifferent to UF football. Not a buyer or seller on UF football. After the first two years of repeated on the field issues under CBN, tough to believe the team can make a quantum leap in performance. Expect a better performance versus Miami than in last year's opener against Utah (can't be any worse than that, can it).
I understand what you’re saying. It’s hard to see that there will be a massive jump in performance given the same results after a couple of years especially fundamental. With that being said very stupid and fixable mistakes kept us away from two more wins. I think you should tune in this year
@@MeesesPieces1.let him go. Let him miss out. In all kinds of weather and he doesn't seem to be about it.

Looks like a lot of haters in the comments. I think they are just a little uneasy about Florida getting things on track again. Either that or they haven’t taken the time to really look at what going on in the program. I know the haters and rivals will keep throwing a bunch of crap about Billy and the Gators, but things are changing. Thanks Josh for your honest opinion.
Bet you said the same shit last year. As a Gators fan since Galen Hall was coach, I say 4-8 is the celing

that first game against miami will say a lot
That's a crazy schedule
They have the talent to win an 8 win team regardless of schedule. If Napier can’t win fire him.
As a gator fan, it’s time we just give this guy his chance. Florida was a few plays away from being an 8 or 9 win team last season. Results on the field matter. But the schedule is basically the same next year. So, regardless of what happens this year, Napier will get next year as well. He’s working from the ground up and that’s just the way it is sometimes. Florida made a deal with the devil for that 06-09 run. I think that deal has been settled. It’s time for the good guys to be good again.
I ain’t saying I don’t believe you about that 06 to 09 run but explain..
Maybe the bowl game is the friends we made along the way?
The bitter fringe of Gator Football is soooo loud.
I believe the talent is there it will all come down to coaching. Yes the schedule is brutal but if he can win 7 games I'd welcome him back and be genuinely excited for next year with Lagway. Ideally Lagway starts the bowl game and shows out similar to Nico last yr for Tennessee. If there's a future for Napier he's the key.
Hello Josh. Please give us your take on GT, now that Brent Keys has taken over as coach?
I’m pumped go gators 🐊
It’s year 3 and we’re already hearing justification for another .500 season or worse. Wild.
And the 2025 SEC schedule has the same teams, so no easier schedule in sight
its not a justification its just reality
Having no logic you can't understand that this is one of the roughest overall schedules in history.
Go Gators 🐊.
Nape can stay if the team stops beating itself. If the team continues to lose games because of what they’ve done to themselves…Billy can’t get another year.
Give that man a lifetime contract
As a UGA grad and Dawg fan, I agree...please UF give Napier a life time contract so you will never get a coach who can beat Georgia

Honestly am mixed I feel like we’ll be better but by how much don’t know a 7-5 record would be amazing but I just honestly want to see a team that doesn’t beat themselves: turnovers, self imposed penalties, and pitiful special teams. Even with this schedule i think my gators win at least 7 games! 🐊🏈

Sun Belt Billy will be gone by October. Then we’ll replace him with Sun Belt Tommy. Because we only hire unqualified coaches. And that’s really what we are all about at UF. Going cheap.

Was good enough to beat your Vols last year. Don't be shocked when he does it again on your home field.
The whole uf uaa is a dumpster 🔥 pit. They don’t care about 🏈 anymore. They should’ve been fired Scott stricklin for the women’s 🏀 team situation 2 years ago that he tried to cover 🆙.
Need to get rid of Foley and Chip Howard. Nothing will change until they're gone. Fire Scott, they'll bring back Lynda Tealer to the UAA to replace him.
I can’t wait to see UF fail again this season! Billy Napier deserves another 6 seasons and a movie
Culture, schmulture.
Talk to me about wins and losses.
As a Florida State fan, I think talking about culture is great. Pleeeease don’t talk about wins and losses. 😊
I love how there are people in the comments, making jokes, begging Florida to extend Billy Napier, Like their athletic directors didn’t give their current head coaches years before they won anything meaningful. Which is why Florida is here….repeatedly firing coaches
@@MeesesPieces1. So which coach deserved a lot more time? Muschamp? No and his Carolina time showed he couldn’t coach further. McElwain? After the fake death threats and defending his 100+ ranked offenses he needed to go. Mullen? Everyone says we were in a major ditch because of him so clearly you must be saying that if he was kept longer it wouldn’t be a problem.
Or the hires were bad hires and earned their pink slips. Hire a coach who wins consistently with good play on both sides of the ball (or willingly makes changes and shows ability to fire friends) and turnover is much lower.
There are 0 examples of championship coaches taking 5+ years to win 10+ games in the last 3 decades. But plenty of people saying Billy needs a Junior Lagway to even do that.
@@edwardbloom6999 I knew you would say that lmao. It’s not just a coach thing it’s an operational thing. But I understand the hire, Strickland likes young guys that have showed a history of winning. Was Napier the most qualified guy, no but I tell you what if my team went 10-3 with three first round picks on offense I’d be questioning my head coach. What I’m saying is Florida is a unique problem, we haven’t been relevant in a while so we lost some boosters along the way and relevancy. To me Napier was close to the same situation with Lane Kiffin and it took him a while to get to where he is.
@@MeesesPieces1. Kiffin took a great UF team and a great Bama team in 2020 to the brink without the benefit of Spring or much of a fall practice in year 1. He won 10 games in year 2 (only 2nd time Ole Miss ever did that, only time w/o Eli Manning), dropped to 8 in year 3 and a lot of Gators decided to post about how he sucked. Then he won 11 and is poised to do that again this year.
Not sure how 2 10+ win seasons in 4 years and being competitive til the end with 2 great offensive teams in year 1 (much less game 1 and let’s not pretend Matt Luke left a ton) is taking until year 4 to hope to win 10 games.
This is Year 1 for Napier in my eyes. Napier finally got his QB after missing the past two cycles. Finally has a half decent o-line. Stability is key in this era of CFB, gotta let him build.
Napier doesn't know how to fix a soft defense. His offenses can't score enough to mitigate that deficiency.
5-7 at best. Lagway will hit the portal once the check clears. Sleepy Sunbelt Billy doesn’t have the juice to compete in the SEC.
Bookmark this. Lagway isn't going anywhere.
@@floridaguy4373 he’ll probably end up at UGA like Etienne and Rashada
Gators will be 3-9 this year. I know Josh Pate says the program looks sound, but it's just not translating on the field. I watched the spring game and they still have the same exact issues. Napier is a good man. He is not an SEC caliber coach.
You are absolutely wrong. Stop putting stock in spring games...it demonstrates absolutely nothing. This team has more talent, speed, and discipline than they have in years. If they don't win at least 7 or 8 games, then it's won the coaches, and they need to go.
At best 7-5
He won’t survive the season!GBO🧡🤍🍊
When is everyone going to stop "propping up" Florida each preseason?? Florida is no longer elite. I dare anyone to find a team over the last 14 years that has more seasons where they were preseason ranked in the top 15-20 and didn't finish the season ranked. Or, ranked in the top 15-20 only to finish with a losing record. They've averaged 7.6 wins and 5.1 losses since 2010 and only have (2) 11-win seasons in 14 years. Nothing in year 1, and especially year 2, tells me they are primed for even a 6 win season, much less 8.
Miami might beat Florida on the over-hyped team each season. They really haven’t been significantly relevant in 20 years. Never won the ACC since joining it, only played for the ACC title once, but every year…is Miami back??!!!
@@mavrikgr It doesn't show in the rankings though. 7 times in the last 14 yeas Florida has been preseason ranked, and finished unranked. This is 3x more than Miami. Also, 3 times UF finished the season ranked, but lower than their initial ranking (which was also more than Miami). My point stands, the media love to prop UF up more than anyone.

@@ecinZtark ND started the preseason ranked, and finished unranked in 11, 14 & 16. 4 less than Florida. They also started the season unranked and finished ranked 2x (1 more than Florida). Again, nobody gets propped up like Florida. Nobody.
When has Florida been "propped up" in the preseason. Everyone knows UF is not elite. However, it's not uncommon for former elite teams to return to greatness after a long hiatus. The hope doesn't disappear just because it's been a while. Most Florida fans know that next year is not going to be great. However, if we can continue to get incrementally better, then eventually we have the potential to return to elite status. They have all the tangibles, just need the right coaching staff.

I dont see how they will be any good. The roster might have players with better attitudes now in year 3 but the talent and depth of the roster has declined under Billy. Also, I don't see the staff as an elite staff that can coach up the talent they have in the way that other schools can. If you add in the schedule it's going to be tough.
