2004 Toyota Sienna LE Immobilizer Key Programming - How To
HTML-код

- How to program Toyota immobilizer keys. This method worked for my 2004 Toyota Sienna LE and will work for many other late model Toyotas with immobilizer keys. Note that in this video I tried to program 2 keys. The first key worked not problem but the second key couldn't be programmed due to what I guess is my van having the maximum number of keys allowed programmed into the ECU. I purchased a total of 3 keys off of eBay from seller "yourkeysupplier" for $9 each. His communication is great and I had no problems programming the keys until I hit the maximum limit on my van. Be warned that unless you go to the dealer you will have no way of knowing how many keys you can program into your ECU before hitting the limit.
Instructions I followed:
1. Using a master key (original key), insert (and remove) it from the ignition 5 times. On the 5th time, leave it in the ignition, then:
2. Open and close the driver's door 6 times.
3. Remove the master key. The security light should now stay lit red.
4. Insert the newly cut key. The security light should be blinking red; wait about 60 seconds until the light stops blinking and turns off.
5. Remove the new key. Insert the old master key and start the engine and turn it off.
Your new key should have been programmed and ready for use.
Nearly 10 years after this video production it continues to help. Thanks a lot. Worked for my 2005 Sienna and some Amazon purchased keys
Aug 24, 2020 worked on my 2007 Sienna with EOM key I bought on eBay for $10 and cut at dealer for $6. Thank you for helping me save about $144 in programming fees at dealer!!!
Worked on my 2004 Sienna, too. Thanks-- really glad you posted this.
So, I paid about $8.50 each for the keys on eBay, programmed them for free, and the local hardware store just cut them for free. For comparison, a very helpful (but not cheap) local locksmith quoted me $30 for the blank key (or they would cut and program mine if bought elsewhere). They would have charged $85.00 to cut and program the key, and an additional $35 to get the needed PIN from Toyota if the customer doesn't have it.
If you want your new key cut precisely to the original shape, they will cut it at a Toyota dealer for about $15, if you provide the vin and proof of ownership, regardless of where you bought the key blank. This avoids the inaccuracy of copying an old, worn key. And you can still program it yourself, provided you are not at the max number of keys your vehicle can accept. Thanks for the helpful video!
This worked perfectly on my 08 Sienna!!! Had the keys I got from Amazon cut for free at Home Depot (they don't charge you if you bring your own key) and did this procedure and now I saved myself $150+!!! Thank you for sir!!!
Thanks for this video. It worked for my 2005 Sienna. It took 10 min to watch the video and 3 min to program and wooooo... my spare key starts the engine.
Thank you very much. This method just worked on my 2008 Sienna. I programmed two additional keys that I bought on Amazon. What I was happy to learn was that the programming worked using only one master key. Fords require two master keys in the programming process to make a third. Great information. You are a key guru.
Best video. Have exact same problem. Now forced to hold the broken master key close to ignition to start it with unprogrammed key, over limit too.
Worked like a dream on my 2003 Toyota Prado. Followed exactly and it was a piece of cake. Thanks a lot! Toyota in Australia charge a fortune for this. I paid $100 for a key and exact frequency transponder and also followed another tutorial to do the remote for the doors. All good now.
Just completed this process on my Sienna with 2 keys, worked perfectly, thank you!
thank you for this video, I bought a remote on amazon for $17.99 and followed the instructions on this video to my excitement it works for my 2004 camry. thank you.
I only received 2 replacement (cut) keys when I bought my (manual) 08 scion tc. one key started my car, the other one didn't, it just spat n choked.. it did unlock the car and glove... googled everything... even passed up your RUclips vid... I am ashamed.... sienna, tc who would've thought? guess what?!! came back, cos I was out of ideas... tried it and it WORKED!!! ahhh!! happy happy!! thank you thank you!! never underestimate the title of a RUclips vid!! the last step with the security light I did wait a little longer than 60 secs... well worth the wait!..
Yay!!! This works! I tried three other instruction sets from the Internet and none of them worked for my 2006 Sienna. Thank you for posting this!!
After trying several other sets of instructions that did not work, I followed these for my 2004 Toyota Solara and it worked the first time. Thanks.
Thanks! Worked for me. 2005 Sienna. It took two tries - I did it wrong the first time. Make sure you get the steady red light before moving on and made sure you open the door far enough all six times.
Worked like a charm for my '08 Scion tC! Turned a $280 job into a $13 job!
You are the man.You really saved me $200. God bless you.
Thank you so much it worked like the first time just you instructed. I was getting worried reading the comments left on other threads about not being to program the transponder on 2006 Scion Tc but it worked flawlessly thank you so much saved me $300. Yahoo
Thanks man, you actually have the "correct" method...a couple of other vids left one crucial step out...Cheers!
Worked great on my 2005 Toyota Solara, following the written instruction sheet you show!! Thanks a bunch. Paid $7.75 shipped to me from ebay and Walmart cut the key free. I did have to do a small amount of filing, comparing the original key, to get it to work in the door, and both ways in the ignition....but, was not difficult. Just a small amount of eyeballing it and light filing! Ya saved me a bundle....did 2 spare keys this way!! :) Have it cut first, so if you can not get it to work, you don't use up one of your allotted number of keys programed for you car.
Thank you so much, it works Toyota Sienna 2004 you saved me $135 from dealer.
Worked perfectly for my 2006 Sienna! Thank you!!
This is great!! I have a 2005 Scion TC. Worked on my second try (I must have not done something wrong first time). Thanks so much! Save me from the dealership.
Awesome, worked on my 2006 Sienna. Thank you very much.
It worked for my 2006 Scion TC as well. Thank you so much! It saved me $50 I would pay to the locksmith!
Thanks bro, u saved me $130+. Works great. Took about 2mn total
Worked on my 2007 Sienna! This was great information. I spent $12 total for an eBay key and a locksmith. Toyota was going to charge an hour labor with the key for a total of $158!
Thank you man I was going to take my car to shop until I seen your video thank u, thank u man u r a blessing u save me money and my job 🙏 lol
It works just fine! I've just made one for my Sienna 2004 LE. Total cost: $12.50 (Wal-Mart cut my programmed key for free).
Worked on my 2004 Toyota Sienna.....thanks......you are the best!
Worked like a charm on my 2006 Toyota highlander hybrid limited. Saved $116 as quoted by dealer. thanks man
Thank you so much! It worked for my 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited!
Oh yea i bought a key from eBay for 40 dollars with a transponder . Ace hardware cut it for free. Stealership quoted 180 and said it would take 1 .5 hrs ,with your help this cost me 40 and took 2 minutes thanks alot
works on a 2005 scion tc :) you just saved me a whole lot of money sir thank you very much! you're awesome!!
Thanks Patrick for the video. Got my spare key cut and program and I save a ton of money compare with going to a dealer or a locksmith to buy a key.
I have since upgraded to a laptop computer with Techstream loaded on it. Can delete all the previous FOBs attach to the van and reprogram all my FOB (4) without all the sillyness of opening and shutting the door.
Thank you! Bought blank key from internet and the hardware store cut it for free. Worked flawless...2008 Sienna (total cost $10, yes ten). Dealer wanted $120.
jhcphoto512 I have a 2010 and bought it on amazon and got key cut for free but it won’t turn
This is excellent I give this guy full marks!
Thank you so much! Worked on my aftermarket key just fine!
**Important note!** When cutting the new key at the dealership, do NOT let them follow the "key code" they get from typing in your VIN #... mine was WRONG and it cost me one of two keys I had purchased... have them do a MIRROR MATCH of the "original" key, because apparently the ignition was changed and the "key code" copy did NOT WORK and I had to dispose of it! 😖
Worked like a charm ... THX saving me a ton of money !!!!
Worked for my 2009 Sienna! Thanks!
Worked on my 2006 Sienna. Thank you!
thanks! worked great on my 08 Sienna! just got to cut it now!
Thanks for your help. It worked on my 2004 Highlander. I ordered key from Amazon, got it cut at Home Depot for a total cost of about $11.00. The last time I needed a key it cost me over $100.00 for my Nissan.
I couldn’t get it to work with my 2004 highlander limited, I can get into the programming mode but after I inserted the new key, the security light will not stop blinking, it had some kind of error code with it. It gave me 2 short blinks follow by a longer blink. Anyone knows what that means??
Thanks for the informative video. Saved me lots of $$$!
Something that you may want to do, since you do not know how many keys are already programmed, is erase the existing keys and start over. It is very similar to programming your keys.
Using your instructions as a template:
1. Using a master key (original key), insert (and remove) it from the ignition 6 times. On the 6th time, leave it in the ignition, then:
2. Open and close the driver's door 7 times.
3. The security light should now stay lit red. When you remove the master key, this will be the only key that is still programmed.
After this, you should be able to add your keys. I only have 3 keys myself, but I believe that ~2004 Toyotas will allow 5 master keys, and 3 valet keys to be programmed.
Since erasing and reprogramming is so easy, I might just erase and reprogram if I even have to give my master key to anyone. This would keep people from making duplicates and driving off with my car.
Does these procedures actually work for erasing all the keys. Did anyone had try it?
It does work for my Sienna 2004! I can delete the programmed keys and add the again! Thank you so much! This info is not easy to come through!
It worked perfectly on my Toyota Sienna 2009. Thanks a lot
When I saw it was 12 minutes long, I thought, nah, I'll never make it 'till the end (I had already found the insert new 5x, drivers door 6x, swap keys, wait, swap keys and start engine process). But there's a lot of really good detail to add to the comfort level for anyone programming. All of the stuff about what the red light does. And holding your newly programmed uncut key near your dumb key...I wondered if that would work. I really like how you think. Thanks for sharing.
Just did this to program 2 new Ebay keys for my 2007 Sienna. Now I just gotta go get em cut at a hardware store. Thanks.
Worked on my 2008 Scion TC... Thank you!
Works on a 2009 Toyota Sienna! Saved me 125 bucks!
thanks a lot I did not know this is possible
Thanks, worked like a charm.
Awesome thank you it worked first time on my toyota avensis 2006 sedan
Worked for my 2004 Highlander Limited! Thanks!
it worked on my 2008 toyota Sienna Limited. thank you so much
thanks a lot its works in my 2004 toyota sienna LE perfect!!!!!
"GRACIAS AMIGO"
2007 sienna XLE closed the door 6x wouldn’t go into the programming mode. Found that if I open the door back up (after closing it 6x) so open and leave open on the 7th that the key light next to the speedometer stayed solid… I then placed my unprogrammed key in and waited a good minute and the key light stopped blinking / went off and it started right away. Thanks🎉.
worked for me on my 2010 sienna, thanks
Just worked on my 2004 Sienna Thanks
Nice,it worked for me! your awesome bro!
Worked on my 2010 Sienna LE. Thanks.
Worked for my 2006 seinna limited. Thanks man
It worked! Spent just 8 bucks!
Thanks for the information provided
thank you i tried and it worked
Perfect. Work on my Scion Tc 06
Thanks man.
Wow, it worked!!! Thanks alot.
Worked for my 2009 Hilux double cab. Thanks.
SUPER AWESOME THANKS, MAN!
Great video. Thanks
You should also be able to stick the transponder key inside the column by the ignition switch. Tge signal from the key will fool the ECM into thinking the key you're using is the transponder key. That way you can use cheap metal $10 "valet" keys all day long.
Worked great on 2009!
2007 sienna I tried this method and after opening and closing the door 6 times and then removing the key the security key light doesn't stay lit, it continues to blink.
Thank you, it works, get it cut only cost $5.
Thanks it worked on my 2010 scion tc
thank you so much for the this video
Thanks veery good
to have a duplicate of a key with a transponder is $85 in my area....good thing I saw this video
One thing mentioned in another video but not here is that the 'key in and out 5 times and opening and closing the door 6 times' process has to be completed within 35 seconds.
Works on a corolla s 2005 thanks man!!
You are legend!
worked great but now my other regular (non master key) is not working (blinking light) ...perhaps the car can only have two programmed and automatically cancels one other key?
From what I can find there are two methods for programming these keys. This one seems to work for late 90s and early to mid 00s vehicles. I'm not 100% sure it will work for the Avalon but in all honesty it can't hurt to try!
thanks so much :)
@1lifejourney I bought an oem key and had it cut, followed the steps in the videos and still, the vehicle isn’t recognizing my new cut key. Checked all number/codes on the keys prior to purchasing.
i have 2007 4runner. when the light goes solid and i put the new key in it doesnt do a steady flash....it does intermittant flashing. one two..one two three. one. one faster....one two three ..never stops flashing... only when you put the master back in does it go back into normal security flash mode? not sure why i cant get it to program. mine does the same thing...any thoughts
It worked for me & my 05 scion tc
Hi,
You are correct about the code output: 23 = exceeded limit of registered keys.
As per the Toyota Workshop Manual, here is the description for Security (Immobilizer) Blinking Codes:
HINT:
• When no key is inserted in the key cylinder in
automatic key code registration mode, the
security indicator remains ON.
• When the immobilizer system is operating
normally and the key is pulled out, the security
indicator blinks continuously.
• If the key code registration has failed in
automatic key code registration mode, code 2-1
will be output from the security indicator. Trying
to re-register an already registered key will cause
code 2-2 to be output when the key is inserted. If
the number of registered key codes exceeds the
limit, code 2-3 will be output from the security
indicator.
Do you know if this will work for a 2013 Corolla? It has the key with the fob on the key itself
Help!!! I have a 2005 4 Runner , sometimes when you turn key nothing happens, you keep trying 3 or 4 times it starts. I have replaced starter and same thing happens and old stater tested good . Any ideas??
Gracias Amigo por tu gran ayuda yporque pienso que las llaverias roban a la gente con precios de progrmacion Muchas Gracias por tu Video
Will this work with a 2011 Toyota Camry? I think there is a huge market for keys if all used cars only come with one key.
The perks of having a Toyota Sienna CE - so base model, it didn't have a transponder key.
so i have lost the master key (didnt know there was such a thing until now) and been driving with the slave key (i know cuz theres a red light blinking on the dash) for sometimes now, can i program with the slave key? is there an alternative to the dealer?
will this work on a 2003 camry le?
Why you need to place/connect master key chip to non-chipped key to start the car if you already have the master key or chipped key on you? unless master/chipped key broke right? I didn't get it.
Any idea where programming instructions might be for 2004 Kia Amanti? 0r please advise where you found instructions for Toyota so I can try similar action for my Kia. Thanks.
Hello there (2007 Scion TC) i did your method and it kinda worked. when i got to the step of inserting new key, security light was on for 6 seconds and then start blinking with some kinda sequence, 3 quick blinks then one blink and again 3 quick ect... (looks like same thing what you got when you program third key)so its means the car didn't take the key, any idea? i wait for more then 2 minutes and it was doing it the blinking, it didn't stop. for example i have too many keys programed or something? but i had only 2 original keys and a valley key. One got lost so i order one with key-less entry and a chip. Tried this and couldn't program it. Any idea?
Please help, i have a Toyota cynos 1994. And have an alarm switch located way up under the steering column. The car won't turn on, and the alarm keeps flashing. The car went for service a week before, and the technicians filted new power steering and alternator belts in. I wonder if this could be the reason the car won't start. Please help. Thanks.
this worked for my 2005 scion tc
