+amalia crossley Understandably. How about the guys, though? Aren't they fantastic? I don't know of another company that has so many gifted male performers.

i'm so impressed by how well devon covered the fall. he made it look so easy when he stood back up in time with anyone else and not showing effort of coming from the wrong spot
What a beautiful piece! A super stressful concept for comps but executed perfectly. That "trick section" gave me so much anxiety because you could see them all going for something and then someone was in the way...but WOW!
Questions have been asked about the "storyline" of this dance. There are two parts of this: what was the idea of J.V. McMorrow's song "Cavalier" and what was the choreographer's interpretation? In an interview, McMorrow stated that this song conveys glimpses of many things in his life that he loves. So perhaps there is not a single meaning but simply a collection of unrelated memories. The lyrics themselves are largely inscrutable, but he said the first three lines tell it all. Speak until the dust Settles in the same specific place Light refused to go Perhaps the choreographer (I don't know who it was) focused on the chorus: I remember my first love That would explain why the dance basically consists of male-female pairings, each of which exercises some latitude as to the moves they perform with one another in the improvisational parts of the performance. When the men and women are together with their own gender, they dance a certain way. But when the "couples" dance, it is an entirely different thing. +Anna Kiriakidis Oh, you think Devon fell down under Briar at the mashup? I hadn't noticed that before but now I see he's the only one on the deck at that point. Wisely, he stayed down there for a moment and they covered pretty well. That's good improv.
+Perfect Dance Videos Yeah it took me quite a few watches to notice, and I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't focusing on their amazing partner work beforehand. He went from lying on the ground to stand up in a fraction of a second, so yes, an amazing recovery. I thought maybe it was meant to happen, but then I saw the way Briar's foot moved before, so I believe it might have been an accident.

and what's even more impressive, I looked up the duo/trio scores and 9/10 of the overall senior awards were CDC and they were all within about 2 points
Correct. The name given by the studio to the entry is "Improv" and the category of the entry is contemporary. It is a framework choreography within which individuals and pairs improvise. To me, that is magical.
From what I picked up on it it is an emotionally abusive relationship and the journey they face through it. The other girls are trying to keep them from the relationship but fail. This made a true comment on the untold side of abusive relationships. While the men treated them horrible they came back kind and continues this pattern. The feeling of needing them because their partners widely down their self-worth(wall scene) is their need to have affection. Others may see it different but that is what I picked up on.
The chosen title of the dance is "Improv" and it has a predetermined structure to it, but within that, the individual dancers and pairs improvise their moves. I really love the concept. It requires a high level of skill and confidence, but if any troupe could pull it off, it's this bunch of seniors from CDC.
technically, she could be younger than 15 since for groups it's their average age that determines the age level. However, I believe Briar was 16 at the time of this in 2015.
the song lyrics themselves are inscrutable, but the focus of the choreo is "I remember my first love" and so ... girls, boys, coming of age, couples, passion, gender group dynamics, that sort of thing ♥
If you like this song by McMorrow, you should check out this live version at KEXP's studio in Seattle. You won't be disappointed. ruclips.net/video/llBOyoaoJWI/видео.html

I think toxic may be too strong a word, but it does seem like the "other girls" are protective of the ones "in relationships" - at one point they even form a wall, which seems to constrain the girls but doesn't hold up when the men want through
It was really cool dance but none of it really had dancing together, it was very scattered, as if everyone knew who there partner was so they went home with their partners and all made up their own choreography and the teacher had no time to check it all, and make it fit together. ( i dont wan to be rude but thats just my opinion )
Note the name of this dance "Improv." It was entered in the contemporary category rather than as a true Improvisational, so they knew the song and had rehearsed with it. But it is loosely structured as a choreo. If you watched several performances, each would be different from the others. The individual dancers and the pairs have a great deal of latitude as to what exactly they do at certain points during the dance.

ok we get it, briar's a great dancer, but there are other great dancers in this too guys!
in fact, everyone in this group is pretty fantastic

It's clearly not FULLY improvised. Some things are planned.

But the partner of briar is max from tns?

pretty sure that's Myles

Is this routine actually improv or is it just what the piece is called?

Hi i know im late
But how old is brair nolet in this some points she looks 14/15 and others 18ish
While all the rest of them look 18or older
*briar
She's at least 15 because the senior dance groups are ages 15-18 I think.
technically, she could be younger than 15 since for groups it's their average age that determines the age level. However, I believe Briar was 16 at the time of this in 2015.

Can you explain me the story of the dance please?
girls and boys have many complex relationships in their lives but perhaps none is more memorable than first love ♥♥
name of song?
+Sonia Cervantes Cavalier ~ James Vincent McMorrow. I usually name the music used (if I know it) at the end of my video descriptions.
We’re Devon and briar meant to fall over? Because it looks like he tripped then she tripped over him
no, but it happens sometimes

It was a kind of combination: choreography at the group level and improvisation at the pairs level. The title of the piece is "Improv" but it was entered in competition as a contemporary.
There was no group, it just looked like a ton of improv, no main section or chorus
It is an improv
It looks like the girls mostly dancing with the guys are in a toxic relationship with the men and it's kinda of the journey I think
I think toxic may be too strong a word, but it does seem like the "other girls" are protective of the ones "in relationships" - at one point they even form a wall, which seems to constrain the girls but doesn't hold up when the men want through
