The Orient and the eastern section on Africa being pretty much isolated by 2 blizzards made it a rediculously valuable location with such an easy location to hold it as well. CG also got lucky that he managed to snag it completely uncontested on top of that, never having it broken the entire game.

It all depends of map. Europe has crazy territorial inflation. On others you can get +3 for 6 point hold.
