I used to live in a doorman building and I have to say I did feel safe. Just give you a warm feeling of comfort. They do so much more than hold a door and yes part of a community in the hustle and bustle of NYC where chit chat is frown upon because we are all in a hurry to get somewhere. He will know your pattern so if you are home sick or something happens he will know there is something out of the norm. I recently broke my ankle and had to crawl outside so my neighbor could call an ambulance. Praise GOD I live on the ground floor. Now if I had a doorman a quick buzz on the intercom and it would have been taken care of. Create a relationship with your doorman. So thank you to all doormen.
Great job pay and bonus from the tenants every Christmas, depending if you work in a rich building. If you are young and are considering doing this type of job go for it, is really good 😊
@@hamidghammari7832 it depends if you are a doorman, yes you will be standing 8 hours opening or closing the door. There are some jobs you will be sitting or standing it all depends on what type of doorman or concierge job is.
Yes, I'm a young man and i can do the job, but i don't have someone to put me there 😢 So i think is this the difficulty of this job. You don't have someone, you can't take the job.
Can you switch with me? How much tips did we make? Let’s put it on a number. Put down the mats, it’s raining. Call the porter. Where’s the super. He’s painting the board members guest room. 🙄
Its for people with charisma and personality, so you're not even close and I make about 1300 a week in tips and thats only 3 to 4 days a week. Did I mention thats not including my 2 week check?

I’ve been a doorman for 27 years and I don’t clean shit!
I’m more like a concierge, but my company is cheap so my title is that of a doorman.

It's definitely a demeaning job, you deal with crazy tenants all day. Most Doorman end up dying early due to stress and bad diets.
@@JoeBuck207 exactly ... i used to do it during the summers in nyc 5th avenue filling in for people on holidays
