Another good video. As mentioned in a comment to the other video, I think SI excluded intentional walks from their BB calculations. If you were to compare the game results for BB to the actual excluding IBB I think they would be close for everyone.

Good point Steve. I included the IBBs in the actual 1971 stats that I used to compare. So that is something I could tweak. The BBs were closer than BAA and SOs. Bob G also pointed out that I did not consider the Ks on the pitchers' charts. Another miss. Oh well, I got pretty close, I think. Came to same conclusion as you, some SI pitchers are better in the game than in real life.

I may have missed it but for strikeouts, did you factor in the pitcher K rolls as a subset of the outs that would have resulted against them? Great job, by the way.

Good point. I did not consider the pitcher's Ks. None of the Baltimore 20 game winners had any Ks, so those wouldn't change.

You mentioned how a couple of pitchers, Pete Richert being one, that was short on Ks. He has a couple of Ks on premium numbers. I wonder if that would make a difference?

Those Ks that I did not consider would probably get this game SO% close to 1971 actuals. Good point.

I went ahead and factored in the pitcher's Ks. That brought Richart in the game up to 20.8% strikeouts vs. his 22.7% in real life 1971. Also helped Dukes and Jackson get closer to actuals. But no Ks on Pat Dobson game chart, so he stayed quite a bit below his actual strikeouts. Poor Pat. I won't tell him and ruin his day. ha ha. Oh well, pretty close.
