+Daniel Hernandez It's an Audio-Technica lapel (lavalier) mic that feeds into the camera, so I do the audio and video together. It picks up voice (that's really what it's designed for) and as long as I don't play too loud, it gets a nice clean violin sound as well!
So helpful. I'm curious, was this technique something you developed on you own, read about, or were you taught by one of your teachers during your time as a student? It seems so practical that I'm frankly shocked that I've never heard anyone talk about it before. Just like we isolate any other aspect of playing/performing in our practice, it seems so logical to isolate the mental processes as well via visualization.
I understand you are looking for Nate to answer you, but he is probably quite busy: in my own early student days, I remember one lesson shortly before a performance I did with my high school orchestra (first mvt of Mozart #1) and my teacher then went over a lot of this, as a way to prepare for the performance. It probably seems like a lot of steps, but it is fantastic and very important performance practice advice
Hi, teacher i want to audition to the Venezuelan Symphony orchestra, but I need more techniques and ways to do a better study. Can you learn me some advice for the study the parts of the audition. I really appreciate it. I apologize for my bad English. Thank you.
+Yinmui Chan No, you can do this however it's helpful! Although for visualization you're not really reading music... just focus on the very opening, whatever you have memorized. The process of reading the notes will take mental focus away from your mental imagery.
Great video, thank you very much for your help! Btw, what kind of microphone are you using? Do you record audio and video simoultaneously?

you are excelente ticher!
Hey Nathan! Wonderful video once again for the challenge. Irrelevant question, but what kind of fiddle do you play on? The maker, the year etc.
+Charles Page This instrument belongs to the LA Philharmonic, and it's from 1729. My own violin is a Postiglione from 1910.

Just a very funny question, does it have to be with eyes closed? I don't have my music memorized.
