Very good video, but I figured out something important, in the plugin config page, you have to choose, audio input and output devices, that are listed in the terminal when you start dsd. input has to be virtual cable, and output speakers or headphones if you will, but to make it work you have to click on "create command line" and restart DSD with the correct command line, you then can check the terminal page if the initializes devices are correct. Also, in the plugin side panel "Audio Device" can be speakers, so you can check "Enable Aux Output" just to monitor the encrypted audio. The volume on the top of the page is very important, if you set it low will decode nothing, and if too high will compress and distort and you will get a lot of erros in the terminal, its optimal when the sound wave is regular and you are not getting errors.
Here's a tip, if you're not getting any waveform in your DSD+ Source Audio window. Open Windows control panel -> sound -> recording, select the VB Audio cable and make sure it isn't muted under the levels tab.
Absolutely one of the top instructional videos I have ever watched. All the steps clearly and concisely stated. So I decided to subscribe. You could add an additional hint - if the input or output device is not correctly initialized you can specify the device numbers on the DSD input/output configuration panel. I had to do that as I have 7 VAC's and several output devices defined and my system was confused. Thank you from KE7KRF
OK, so yes, the configuration panel displayed at 7:06 ... And, I have the devices selected exactly as techMinds does. (This can be seen at 9:01 in this video.) His selected audio input device = #2 Cable Output - VB audio Virtual...initialized His selected audio output device = #1 Realtek Speakers high def... initialized When I run the software, mine is exactly like this, but... still nothing. As write this, I am still trying to check and see if its a matter of no voice transmissions are occuring, thus I'm hearing no audio. Another RUclips comment put it this way "ah okay. It works now. If you hear silence then its simply not decoding. There is NO STATIC. Its either full speech or dead silence." But, as for me, I am just getting "dead silence" at the moment. I'm wondering what the problem is.
Some of you have experienced similar problems that I encountered. Requires some tinkering and a little patience. I have now tested with Win 7 and 10 so note the following; 1. DSD+ decoding and oscillating but no actual sound; check your system sound settings > Playback = speakers set as default device (Properties > Levels should not be muted). Recording = CABLE output set as default device (Properties > Listen > tick "listen to this device, Playback should be default playback device", Levels should not be muted). 2. SDR issue; Techminds instructs you to select "Windows direct sound Cable input VB input virtual cable" for BOTH the Audio OUTPUT option and DSD interface Audio device. I have tried with the MME options and it still appears to work too. Ensure you tick "enable audio output" in the DSD interface section. 3. When configuring DSD interface, you need to make sure you are piping the audio in & out to the correct places. When you click configure, this will confirm which options are going to be used. When you click start DSD, some pop up boxes appear - look at the largest pop up and this will present all the corresponding audio options available in 3 sections, fist is audio input options, then audio output options and lastly what you have set it to. If this is piped incorrectly then it will not work. 4. You need a nice strong connection/aerial etc for you to hear the sound which needs to be converted from digital to analogue. 5. At first you may not even know what you're looking for i.e. sound and waterfall, suggest you head over to the RTL website and it will give you some examples as well as Techminds vids!
I don't see anything that says "DSD Interface" when I use SDR Sharp. I followed the directions in the video and I still don't see it. Did I do something wrong?
@@classichank60 you have to insert the DSD+ command line into the appropriate folder in SDR#. Go back to the DSD+ folder and read the README file. It contains complete instructions for that part of the install.

@@classichank60 Same here. The web site that hosts the '"DSD Interface" plugin is long gone. I had to go back to a very early version (1416) of Sharp# to search for the plugin DLLs and Magic Line script needed. Later installs give the option to install more plugins and practically all of them were hosted at the now defunct web site. At least I still had "Simple DMR" and "Simple APCO" from a year and a half ago when I bought my 1st SDR dongle. One thing for certain, Sharp does not age well.

Just in case anyone is having problems about having no sound, you either have your settings wrong or there is simply nothing to decode! Hi. I love what you do, I really do. Amazing channel. Its been 3 years since I last posted about setting up DSD, now I'm retired and have my FL (M7DKU). I've even now managed to set up my RTL SDR Dongle but for the love of god, do you think I'm able to set up DSD on my laptop? No. No I am not!! LOL. This attempt, 3 years since my last attempt....still unable to set it up after the VB cable turned ALL laptop sound off so I couldn't follow your tutorial so I have swallowed something hard and jagged, realised this level of PC work is not for me so I am following one of your other films about making an Lband antenna. Half completed, I'm better with making actual things rather than PC virtual stuff. I don't think I'm going to try this again for fear of a stroke. If anyone else is getting an error message saying, "audio input device open failed" while trying to start DSD+ in Windows 10, then go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, and make sure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is on. I got this error and it drove me insane for like 20 minutes straight lol
Like others, I would love to see an updated version. Here is my use case: A local volunteer team I'm on has existing radios that are no longer made. Nobody knows the DMR programming. We are hoping this type of method can be used to get the programming and then program budget DMR radios.

I did everything just like you demonstrated, then wondered about the choppy audio and why on earth I wasn't able to understand a thing... turns out I picked up an ongoing QSO in TG 91 (world wide) here in my local repeater in Germany... entirely in Italian. Yeah, that took me a while to figure out. Maybe I'm just a tiny bit stupid.
Everyone read this. If you minimize the windows for dsd plus to bottom of screen it will increase you processing power for your cpu. This will make the decoder work better. Once set up properly you can minimize the sdr sharp to bottom of screen and dramatically increase processing power even more. If you go to task manager on windows and wait a couple of seconds you can see how much it increases your available processing power. You still have to get your bat file correct first so read the read me file for dsd plus and have gain in correct place. Hope this helps some people having problems with weaker computers.

Great tutorial, easy to follow and clear instructions, which I did to the letter, unfortunately it ain't working for me. I'm definitely picking something up - I can see the data in the cmdline coming through, but no sound. I have correctly configured the input/output, so I have no clue why it isn't working. it does say 'sync: no sync' and also things like '+DMR CACH ERR slot 1 BS DATA ERR1 DCC=3 CSBK' whatever that means...
Have the setup running - so far only found some data channels. Did attempt to decode my digital Kenwood TK-3401D - but DSD+ does not appear to detect the signal at all. Are all digital PMR radios equal = that is - do they use the same encoding ?
I’m not sure if DSD can decode those. Best thing to do is locate a local DMR ham radio repeater and try and decode that. That will ensure your setup is working
Tech Minds : Found the answer. No. These Kenwoods uses AMBE+2 encoding - which - should be supported in a future release of DSD+. From my brief readings on the dPMR standard, it looks like manufacturers can use their own chosen codec’s - as long as they can fall back to a common set. Have not tested with a different brand of dPMR handset though.
Great video! I spent one whole night trying to figure it out by myself, and right after I did manage to get it working, I found your video! Too bad I didn't find it before! I am quite new to the SDR world and I found it quite impressive that you are receiving the signal with such intensity. What is your setup? I am using a telescopic antenna indoor and the signal intensity I am getting barely goes above -60 dB (with noise floor around -80 dB). Do you have any tip on that?
Here is a question. If you want to monitor a DMR system with say.. 3 frequencies and one of them has a control channel in one of the time slots, how do we get SDR# to change frequency as the control channel tells it to?

Right click on the volume button on the right side. sounds-->Recording-->select cable output as default device-->click on properties--->Listen---> check on Listen to the device and finally selct speakers option in playback through this device option.... hope this will work for you
I managed to find some samples on kb9ukd.com but they don't seem to work or my setup is weird... I tried all of them, sent them to the VoiceMeter Input (not using VirtualCable here), it does show something on the EQ that DSD Plus comes with but it just won't decode it... What am I doing wrong?
Hi mate great videoI’ve followed to the letter but when dsd starts, I get no decode or data running. Just the normal encrypted audio on standard nfm. I’ve tried various sdr sharp etc settings but no luck On dsd start I get the multiple screens and there’s signal in the audio box. Any help appreciated Regards Neil
Funny, followed your video - installed using your very detailed guide - and found, that the version of SDR# I had downloaded - which included a number of plug-ins - already had DSP Plus installed :-). Now, unfortunately have to wait testing, as I am in a remote vacation location with little signals at all. One request - I found that my just purchased HackRf performed really badly, hardly getting any signals - that was until I was holding the short whip antenna in my hand, touching the metal ground. How about an RTL SDR antenna episode - how to optimize indoor/mobile antennas for reception ?
i have never got DSD plus to decode on NFM...I have to use WFM when using SDR Console and HDSDR, I couldnt get it to work at all in sdr sharp in either NFM or WFM mode

OK, so I'm SDR Sharp, I don't see something that says "DSD Interface", only something that says "DSD+ tcp" and when I click on it, there's no option to change the audio device. Did I do something wrong?
Can this procedure be also used with HDSDR? Totally new to this whole thing, I thought the hardware I already have (RTL2832U+R820T2 TCXO 0.5ppm) is my 'receiver', or do I need an external RX radio to use this stuff with? Again, I'm new to this, it initially looked interesting, but I just keep hitting all these roadblocks to getting the thing to work...I'm certain it's either something I'm doing wrong, or not doing at all?
ok so i have got the program to decode dmr and the events table shows bs data etc and voice shows at the top of the box but... the audio is just raw noise - not audible voice any ideas please thanks neil
Hi Matt, need some help please! I'm not sure if I have configured something incorrectly but when I scan through various frequency ranges the source audio works fine, the DSD event log opens up, DSD+ command line opens but it is not decoding anything (unlike your screen where there is a constant decoding feed). Any ideas on what might be going wrong? As my DSD source audio is working I was thinking it might be something simple like not being tuned into a digital frequency but I've scanned across the whole range and no joy as yet. Any help appreciated! TY
I really appreciate your videos. I am new to Ham Radio. I have had great success with listening to analog signals 2 meter and 70cm. I was able to get this working with your excellent instructions without errors but I can't hear any audio. If I shut DSD off and go to a broadcast FM station it works just fine if I switch the audio settings back to default. I see the peaks pop up so I dial over to them and there is nothing coming out of the speakers. It might be that I am still using the original antenna. Do you recommend an antenna for 7cm and 2 meter to use with my NooElec dongle? I have the SO239 adapters for my dongle. Thanks Kevin
With DSD running you wont hear anything until it starts to decode a digital signal. There is no white noise with digital through DSD. If you see the DOS window where DSD is running start scrolling up and decoding digitial, and you still have no audio out put, then you will need to check the output setting within the DSD plugin option on SDR Sharp.
I understand that. I am not getting audio output to speakers even checking all the windows sound settings. I am missing something. I see the activity on the DSD plus screens. And I see activity in the VB sound settings in windows. The decoded audio just isn't getting to my speakers.

awesome dude. I just installed my Airspy and trying to communicate with my UHF and was just wondering how do i listen to those CB that has CTCSS? Even if i know the CTCSS for that channel, is there a way that this dongle/software can receive the transmission? I hope that make sense. I have my walkie talkie set to channel 16, CCTSS 17 and just want to get some transmission using the USB dongle. SUggestions are more than welcome.
Help! The folder you renamed as DSDPlus is to place where? In this part of your explanation the video stays with the dark screen and shows nothing! I open SDRSharp and DSD does not appear in the left menu.
Place the DSDPlus folder wherever you prefer, it doesn't matter. Make sure you have the latest version of SDRSharp (mine was from 2014 and I had your same problem). Carefully follow the instructions for the dsd plugin and everything will be ok.
that should be even easier, you shouldn't need vb cable too, plug your scanner into the line in skt on your sound card or motherboard whichever you use, if there is no aux in use the mic in skt BUT turn down the volume until it does not distort. right set the scanner playing anything that you can hear, open the speaker icon inn the right hand corner of your desktop with a right click, click on recording devices open microphone and check its enabled, once you have the audio coming in just tell dsd to listen on the mic line, and output on the pc speakers, then try giving it some signals and see if it will decode them. vb cable just connects two programs together, so if you have a scanner you dont need sdr# you just need your scanners audio going into your pc sound device, listen on mic playback on speakers, set the freq with the scanner, it should be a lot easier to get decoding with an actual scanner.
Is it normal to have so many error packets? I believe I have everything set correctly, signal is strong, audio is routed as it should, PPM is set the best I can get it, but I get many many error packets. Do you happen to know what might help fix that problem? Thank you.

Found it! You have to go the configuration in DSD like he does in 7:05, then select the Output Audio Device you want to change to, in my case it is device number 3. Then you click Create command line and then OK. Tada! Unluckily for me I don't have any good signals receiving at the moment so I haven't heard anything, but Im sure that will fix your problem

My DSD Plus simply won't work. It does start but the inputs are wrong even though I followed every instruction. All files in the correct folders and setting exactly the same as you show, but for some reason DSD Plus is using my microphone as the main input and not VB Cable even though VB Cable is selected in the audio and dsd dropdown menu. When I disable the microphone, DSD fails and will not run. Any idea what to change or to do differently?
It sounds like your audio in and out are wrong or there is an issue with DSD recognising the audio ports. I have another video which covers using DSD from the command line.
@@TechMindsOfficial Must be a DSD recognition issue. I uninstalled everything and did the whole procedure again. Everything setup the same as the video instructs, but same result as before. Will have a look at other video.
I lost my added plugins on the sidebar on the left margin. Only show AGC, audio, display, zoom bar, and step bar now. They were all there when I opened the program but disappeared when I was trying to set up the input audio, Any clue what happened or how to fix it.
In your opinion what is one of the better SDR units for reception of DMR,Dstar, and P25. I have one of the cheap $20 RTL sticks (ER400) and they do work but I find the sensitivity obviously will be poor. I also found digital reception best is DMR, but Dstar and P25 are awful with lots of drop outs. DMR is OK but still not as good as a cheap $54 Baofeng DM-1801. I was hoping for better P25 reception for my local police but not to good with DSDplus.
Do you use the Fastlane edition of DSD+? It’s far superior at decoding than the free version. If you want a cheap SDR dongle that good quality, get a NooElec NESdr. If you want something a bit more pokey look at SDRPlay or Airspy products :)

Hi Jad, looks like DSD isn’t able to open VB Audio cable. Did you restart your computer after installing VB Audio? Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing VB Audio cable.

I am a novice at this so bear with me please. I have gone through the process described, but when I press the start button I get the message no device selected. When I click the setup gear on the to bar the device box is empty and there is no opportunity to change it as the drop down arrow is greyed out. it does say above the box Device E4000 (if that means anything). I have the Airspy SDR# Studio v1.0.0.1787 version and have loaded, deleted and re-loaded DSD Plus and the plug in and have been totally unsuccessful. Is there an updated version of DSD Plus that works? When I open SDR Sharp I am unable to see or set up DSP Plus interface. Any suggestions?

2. SDR issue; Techminds instructs you to select "Windows direct sound Cable input VB input virtual cable" for BOTH the Audio OUTPUT option and DSD interface Audio device. I have tried with the MME options and it still appears to work too. Ensure you tick "enable audio output" in the DSD interface section.
3. When configuring DSD interface, you need to make sure you are piping the audio in & out to the correct places. When you click configure, this will confirm which options are going to be used. When you click start DSD, some pop up boxes appear - look at the largest pop up and this will present all the corresponding audio options available in 3 sections, fist is audio input options, then audio output options and lastly what you have set it to. If this is piped incorrectly then it will not work.
4. You need a nice strong connection/aerial etc for you to hear the sound which needs to be converted from digital to analogue.
5. At first you may not even know what you're looking for i.e. sound and waterfall, suggest you head over to the RTL website and it will give you some examples as well as Techminds vids!

I don't see anything that says "DSD Interface" when I use SDR Sharp. I followed the directions in the video and I still don't see it. Did I do something wrong?
@@classichank60 you have to insert the DSD+ command line into the appropriate folder in SDR#. Go back to the DSD+ folder and read the README file. It contains complete instructions for that part of the install.

@@classichank60 Same here. The web site that hosts the '"DSD Interface" plugin is long gone. I had to go back to a very early version (1416) of Sharp# to search for the plugin DLLs and Magic Line script needed. Later installs give the option to install more plugins and practically all of them were hosted at the now defunct web site. At least I still had "Simple DMR" and "Simple APCO" from a year and a half ago when I bought my 1st SDR dongle. One thing for certain, Sharp does not age well.

Hi. I love what you do, I really do. Amazing channel. Its been 3 years since I last posted about setting up DSD, now I'm retired and have my FL (M7DKU). I've even now managed to set up my RTL SDR Dongle but for the love of god, do you think I'm able to set up DSD on my laptop? No. No I am not!! LOL. This attempt, 3 years since my last attempt....still unable to set it up after the VB cable turned ALL laptop sound off so I couldn't follow your tutorial so I have swallowed something hard and jagged, realised this level of PC work is not for me so I am following one of your other films about making an Lband antenna. Half completed, I'm better with making actual things rather than PC virtual stuff. I don't think I'm going to try this again for fear of a stroke. If anyone else is getting an error message saying, "audio input device open failed" while trying to start DSD+ in Windows 10, then go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, and make sure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is on. I got this error and it drove me insane for like 20 minutes straight lol

Everyone read this. If you minimize the windows for dsd plus to bottom of screen it will increase you processing power for your cpu. This will make the decoder work better. Once set up properly you can minimize the sdr sharp to bottom of screen and dramatically increase processing power even more. If you go to task manager on windows and wait a couple of seconds you can see how much it increases your available processing power. You still have to get your bat file correct first so read the read me file for dsd plus and have gain in correct place. Hope this helps some people having problems with weaker computers.

Great tutorial, easy to follow and clear instructions, which I did to the letter, unfortunately it ain't working for me. I'm definitely picking something up - I can see the data in the cmdline coming through, but no sound. I have correctly configured the input/output, so I have no clue why it isn't working. it does say 'sync: no sync' and also things like '+DMR CACH ERR slot 1 BS DATA ERR1 DCC=3 CSBK' whatever that means...

Have the setup running - so far only found some data channels. Did attempt to decode my digital Kenwood TK-3401D - but DSD+ does not appear to detect the signal at all. Are all digital PMR radios equal = that is - do they use the same encoding ?
I’m not sure if DSD can decode those. Best thing to do is locate a local DMR ham radio repeater and try and decode that. That will ensure your setup is working
Tech Minds : Found the answer. No. These Kenwoods uses AMBE+2 encoding - which - should be supported in a future release of DSD+. From my brief readings on the dPMR standard, it looks like manufacturers can use their own chosen codec’s - as long as they can fall back to a common set. Have not tested with a different brand of dPMR handset though.

Great video. Easy to follow steps. Everything went well, exactly as outlined. When I click Start DSD the 4 little screen come on. Output appear to be ok Checked a number of time). Right click on the volume button on the right side. sounds-->Recording-->select cable output as default device-->click on properties--->Listen---> check on Listen to the device and finally selct speakers option in playback through this device option.... hope this will work for you

I managed to find some samples on kb9ukd.com but they don't seem to work or my setup is weird... I tried all of them, sent them to the VoiceMeter Input (not using VirtualCable here), it does show something on the EQ that DSD Plus comes with but it just won't decode it... What am I doing wrong?

Hi mate great videoI’ve followed to the letter but when dsd starts, I get no decode or data running. Just the normal encrypted audio on standard nfm.
I’ve tried various sdr sharp etc settings but no luck
On dsd start I get the multiple screens and there’s signal in the audio box.

Funny, followed your video - installed using your very detailed guide - and found, that the version of SDR# I had downloaded - which included a number of plug-ins - already had DSP Plus installed :-). Now, unfortunately have to wait testing, as I am in a remote vacation location with little signals at all.
One request - I found that my just purchased HackRf performed really badly, hardly getting any signals - that was until I was holding the short whip antenna in my hand, touching the metal ground. How about an RTL SDR antenna episode - how to optimize indoor/mobile antennas for reception ?

OK, so I'm SDR Sharp, I don't see something that says "DSD Interface", only something that says "DSD+ tcp" and when I click on it, there's no option to change the audio device. Did I do something wrong?
Can this procedure be also used with HDSDR? Totally new to this whole thing, I thought the hardware I already have (RTL2832U+R820T2 TCXO 0.5ppm) is my 'receiver', or do I need an external RX radio to use this stuff with? Again, I'm new to this, it initially looked interesting, but I just keep hitting all these roadblocks to getting the thing to work...I'm certain it's either something I'm doing wrong, or not doing at all?

Hi Matt, need some help please! I'm not sure if I have configured something incorrectly but when I scan through various frequency ranges the source audio works fine, the DSD event log opens up, DSD+ command line opens but it is not decoding anything (unlike your screen where there is a constant decoding feed). Any ideas on what might be going wrong? As my DSD source audio is working I was thinking it might be something simple like not being tuned into a digital frequency but I've scanned across the whole range and no joy as yet. Any help appreciated! TY
Check you are using Wide FM and ensure the whole bandwidth of the digital signal is selected in SDR Sharp or your SDR Software.
I really appreciate your videos. I am new to Ham Radio. I have had great success with listening to analog signals 2 meter and 70cm. I was able to get this working with your excellent instructions without errors but I can't hear any audio. If I shut DSD off and go to a broadcast FM station it works just fine if I switch the audio settings back to default. I see the peaks pop up so I dial over to them and there is nothing coming out of the speakers. It might be that I am still using the original antenna. Do you recommend an antenna for 7cm and 2 meter to use with my NooElec dongle? I have the SO239 adapters for my dongle.

With DSD running you wont hear anything until it starts to decode a digital signal. There is no white noise with digital through DSD. If you see the DOS window where DSD is running start scrolling up and decoding digitial, and you still have no audio out put, then you will need to check the output setting within the DSD plugin option on SDR Sharp.
I understand that. I am not getting audio output to speakers even checking all the windows sound settings. I am missing something. I see the activity on the DSD plus screens. And I see activity in the VB sound settings in windows. The decoded audio just isn't getting to my speakers.

I just installed my Airspy and trying to communicate with my UHF and was just wondering how do i listen to those CB that has CTCSS? Even if i know the CTCSS for that channel, is there a way that this dongle/software can receive the transmission? I hope that make sense. I have my walkie talkie set to channel 16, CCTSS 17 and just want to get some transmission using the USB dongle. SUggestions are more than welcome.

Help! The folder you renamed as DSDPlus is to place where? In this part of your explanation the video stays with the dark screen and shows nothing! I open SDRSharp and DSD does not appear in the left menu.
Place the DSDPlus folder wherever you prefer, it doesn't matter. Make sure you have the latest version of SDRSharp (mine was from 2014 and I had your same problem). Carefully follow the instructions for the dsd plugin and everything will be ok.
Can't seem to get it to work with just a normal Uniden scanner, which I suppose is understandable. I'll look into SDR :)
that should be even easier, you shouldn't need vb cable too, plug your scanner into the line in skt on your sound card or motherboard whichever you use, if there is no aux in use the mic in skt BUT turn down the volume until it does not distort.
right set the scanner playing anything that you can hear, open the speaker icon inn the right hand corner of your desktop with a right click, click on recording devices open microphone and check its enabled, once you have the audio coming in just tell dsd to listen on the mic line, and output on the pc speakers, then try giving it some signals and see if it will decode them.
vb cable just connects two programs together, so if you have a scanner you dont need sdr# you just need your scanners audio going into your pc sound device, listen on mic playback on speakers, set the freq with the scanner, it should be a lot easier to get decoding with an actual scanner.

Is it normal to have so many error packets? I believe I have everything set correctly, signal is strong, audio is routed as it should, PPM is set the best I can get it, but I get many many error packets. Do you happen to know what might help fix that problem? Thank you.

Anyone getting "audio input device open failed", you have to allow desktops apps access to microphone in windows 10 settings.

You have to go the configuration in DSD like he does in 7:05, then select the Output Audio Device you want to change to, in my case it is device number 3. Then you click Create command line and then OK. Tada!
Unluckily for me I don't have any good signals receiving at the moment so I haven't heard anything, but Im sure that will fix your problem

My DSD Plus simply won't work. It does start but the inputs are wrong even though I followed every instruction. All files in the correct folders and setting exactly the same as you show, but for some reason DSD Plus is using my microphone as the main input and not VB Cable even though VB Cable is selected in the audio and dsd dropdown menu. When I disable the microphone, DSD fails and will not run. Any idea what to change or to do differently?
It sounds like your audio in and out are wrong or there is an issue with DSD recognising the audio ports. I have another video which covers using DSD from the command line.

I lost my added plugins on the sidebar on the left margin. Only show AGC, audio, display, zoom bar, and step bar now. They were all there when I opened the program but disappeared when I was trying to set up the input audio, Any clue what happened or how to fix it.
In your opinion what is one of the better SDR units for reception of DMR,Dstar, and P25. I have one of the cheap $20 RTL sticks (ER400) and they do work but I find the sensitivity obviously will be poor. I also found digital reception best is DMR, but Dstar and P25 are awful with lots of drop outs. DMR is OK but still not as good as a cheap $54 Baofeng DM-1801.
I was hoping for better P25 reception for my local police but not to good with DSDplus.
Do you use the Fastlane edition of DSD+? It’s far superior at decoding than the free version. If you want a cheap SDR dongle that good quality, get a NooElec NESdr. If you want something a bit more pokey look at SDRPlay or Airspy products :)

Hi Jad, looks like DSD isn’t able to open VB Audio cable. Did you restart your computer after installing VB Audio? Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing VB Audio cable.

Your audio output has to be set to 1 as that’s your speakers

What does it mean if all the audio controls are in gray and cannot open? They appear to be all preselected and I cannot open them? Have checked setup and cannot unlock? Your help highly appreciated.

My DSD plus detects my microphone as input device and not VB cable. How do I change that?
Same here. No matter what I do in the configuration the input will not change from "microphone".

I am a novice at this so bear with me please. I have gone through the process described, but when I press the start button I get the message no device selected. When I click the setup gear on the to bar the device box is empty and there is no opportunity to change it as the drop down arrow is greyed out. it does say above the box Device E4000 (if that means anything). Can you point me in any direction that would help? Thanks.
I have the Airspy SDR# Studio v1.0.0.1787 version and have loaded, deleted and re-loaded DSD Plus and the plug in and have been totally unsuccessful. Is there an updated version of DSD Plus that works? When I open SDR Sharp I am unable to see or set up DSP Plus interface. Any suggestions?
