The predator timeline is completely separate from the alien timeline. Aliens vs predator is connect to the predator timeline but not the alien one.

Hey! I'm quite new to the fandom (like 2 weeks most 😂) and I realized through the video that despite watching the movies there's still a lot infos that I don't know. I've seen that there are quite a few comics and a game. Are there also any books and other stuff? I want to read/watch/play it all 😂
Gamewise there's Predator: Hunting Grounds, a Dead by Daylight-like featuring a commandos of 4 trying to do their job while a Predator is tracking them. A pretty fun game even if it's not perfect. I would recommend to wait for it to be on sales tho, the 40€ price tag might be a bit too much for most people c:

Dont do it, if you continue reading and watching the lore behind Aliens and Predator in the comics, novels and videogames, they will start to get weird and you will lose yourself.
If you want to fix this, never watch Alien Covenant and Prey, they fuскеd the canon of both sagas.
I strongly recommend comics, specially the ones about Predator through human history such as 'Predator: 1718'. There's the AvP (Alien Vs Predator) stories, but they're usually more for fans because they're quite fanservice-y lol.
From the games, the best ones are the AvP ones for sure, with a lot more of a developed story and fun gameplay, specially 'AvP 2' (2001) and 'AvP' (2010). Predator solo games are only 2 that were mostly good lol, those being 'Predator: Concrete Jungle' (2004) and 'Predator: Hunting Grounds' (2020), the latter being better in terms of gameplay, and the first in terms of story.

@@Eizh lol, those never broke the canon, many comics of alien and predator were unlicensed and unauthorized hence never exactly canon, and the AVP saga also wasn't considered canon by the alien creators as well, so saying them mess with the canon is just odd

Mercenary just means they are hired guns. In this case hired as a rescue team.

I dont know man, that theory about "two universes" doesnt have any sense since The Predator confirmed that the events of Predator and AVP happened in the same timeline, at the same time the movies show the origins and put the bases of the Weyland-Yutani and this doesnt have any problem with the Alien Saga canon, even Concrete Jungle shows the next steps of the saga and helps a lot to continue the WY origins.
Only Covenant and Prey fuскеd the Predator canon with the pistol of Raphael because this doesnt have any sense with the comic Predator 1718, the director doesnt know a shТ about Predator and taking about Ridley Scott he changed the fact that the Xenomorphs were ancient (because the Engineer Ship in LV-426 was in the planet for centuries) and wanted to make David the sole creator of the Xenomorphs (even in the comics they wanted to make Elden a female and give birth to the biomechanical Xenomorphs but this was changed).
Btw, the Yautja Civil War started i dont know how millennia ago because theres some figures (i think Neca) of Super Predators (Nightstorm) that show the lore of how they started a war with the normal Predators.
Books and comics sadly are never truly canon unless otherwise stated. Any books or comics for the Alien and Predator franchises are loose canon at best and are subject to change at any time. Star Wars is proof enough of that.
The canon between Predator and AvP was made official when 'The Predator' (2018) showed the xenomorph tail spear, so basically all Predator movies with a Predator in it are all canon.
The same can't be said for Alien since it doesn't refer to anything directly from any of the Predator movies. And the same also applies to the Alien prequels, because they don't make any official connections to the other Alien movies, which technically makes them NOT official canon.
Basically, you have Predator and AvP movies, all in the same continuity. Then you have Prometheus and Covenant, both in their own continuity. And you have Alien, with its 4 movies in their own continuity.
Also, there's no actual proof Covenant shows the creation of the xenomorph, so that is also NOT official canon. Ridley Scott doesn't decide canon, the movies do, and neither of the prequels change any of it because there's no actual evidence or direct connections to other movies.

That pistol had a comic-book backstory the new movie just threw out the window (writer later saying they didn't know what they were doing; just added it in because one of them remembered some gun somewhere in some Pred movie.) No attempt at continuity of the lore.

I'd say the new movie didn't change a god damn thing. The director said this was a pred from a different part of their home planet. So I took it as this is the first time THIS KIND of pred was here. Not the firat time ANY predator had been here. Only thing to me that changed it seems is the pistol history. But usually if it wasn't in the movies then it dont count so really they didnt mess up ANYTHING.

I have to say, you missed a lot here.
You completely jumped over the Predators capturing and containing the Alien Queen on Earth and having the indigenous humans worship them as gods and sacrifices for the Xenomorphs.
And also, according to the director (I believe it was the director?) Of The Predator, the film is meant to be set between Predator 2 and Predators. Although it is clearly in 2018, Predator Hunting Grounds suggests that Predators actually occurs in 2024, not 2010.
And for that matter, all the major events of Predator Hunting Grounds were completely ignored despite it being the only video game that is actually canon...
And speaking of, although I don't think it's entirely relevant, but the old comics are no longer canon (as evident by the Raphael Adolini pistol having completely contradictory stories) and I don't think any AVP story outside of the two films are actually canon either.

@@Steve96gta they aren't canon to the Alien films but they are to the Predator films. Lex's spear from AVP is on display in The Predator and there are numerous instances of Xenomorphs being referenced in the Predator films.

This is incorrect. The Alien, Predator, AvP are actually three separate universes. By adding aliens to the time line than your actually chronicling AvP and not Predator.
A xenomorph skull is seen in Predator 2, which kickstarted the whole AVP lore. However, that means they did hunt Xenomorphs before AVP was ever established as its own thing

As I understood it, PREY, was the first time Feral Predators hunted on earth. Since there are various factions as well as subspecies, I see no contradiction. As for the gun, that's another issue entirely. And I have already accepted the possibly that contradictory stories can be chalked up to "parallel universe" stories. I'm ok with that.

As much as I'd love to learn more of the potential lore that is involved with the Alien/Predator/Terminator timeline (yes, Terminator, Soldier, Abyss, Blade Runner, all share the same timeline... as Terminator is involved through the AvP videogames, and Abyss is already confirmed to be connected to Terminator by the creators, Blade Runner ties in as Tyrell Corp. is Wayland-Yutani's rival for the production of "synthetics." and both received major boots in technological advancements from the T-800's hand and chip data. Soldier is a side-story that happens on a "trash planet" within the Blade Runner universe, as we see a decommissioned police cruiser in some of the opening rubble.--and I personally believe that the Firefly/Serenity and Battlestar Galactica story lines fall within the same universe, as well. Both being after the fall of Earth, sub-faction split off settled a lone star system (Firefly/Serenity) while the bulk of the exodus settled on Kobol, where they later had a second exodus and settled the 12 Colonies of Kobol (BSGr), leads into Caprica, BSGr, and the return to Earth. While Serenity remains separate and deals with their own FUBAR of a star system) sorry, digression aside... the constant use of "CE" as in "CURRENT ERA"... This is an arbitrary phrase used to attempt to separate the concept of time and our calendar from the AD notation (Anno Domini). Or, in short, a separation from the historical even of Christ. All religious aspects aside, the use of CE, rather than AD, is a blatant disrespect to all previous generations and chronological notations of time stamps. Including making yourself look like an imbecilic hypocrite, with your use of "BC." (Before Christ). Whether you believe it the religion or not, the historical fact still remains of his existence and global scholars across the generations had used it to denote a set point in time. (much like how the Chinese use their own set notation in time, to count the years, which if I understand correctly, is based on a lunar cycle... or the Japanese and how they use the reigning emperor as the notation of each of their "eras.") In short, the use of "CE"/"BCE" is asinine on the simple fact that it fails to denote a starting point. If you are THAT adamant (this goes for anyone who has the same "wild-hair-up-their-tail" notion to use CE/BCE) to NOT use the BC/AD notations, then you should at least have a starting point for your arbitrary chronological calendar. Otherwise, you're just literally using the Christian time with a meaningless "pat on your back" making you feel good for having zero substance.----- As far as your historical background to the Yautja, I would like to know where all these details can be found.
