Just telling. This was one of the best games that i have tried out since Skyrim. Who cares about the twelve year olds and their goddamn flower emitting guns.
I've played 20+ hours of Primal and explored almost all of the valley so far, and I have never seen any water textures like that. Must have been patched already.
3:41 IGN don't be misleading please... that's not how the water looks, that's just a bug... I mean, the water still doesn't look amazing or anything, but that's not how it normally looks.
I completely disagree with a 7.9 score... I found it to be one of the most refreshing games I've played in a couple of years. It was a bold decision to do it, and I absolutely loved every minute I played it.👍
This is one of the best games I've ever played... It's a unique theme with a real sense of adventure... The fact that many don't like it makes me like it more...
There is no single game that people like. They simply hype it up. And starts criticizing about the miniature flaws when it comes out instead of looking its merits. I have lately seen this happen a lot. People like to complain more than appreciating the work. For me, this game was perfect.
"feels like a step back" I'm pretty sure thats literally the point. Less weapons, less customisations that's the reality of living in the stone age, u have less to play with
The lack of historical knowledge and distance is truly frightening IGN. There was no idea or concept of individual identity 10k years ago. People were just a few adjectives as strong, smart, fast. There was no "I am this, and I think this way". Takkar is a man of his time, well portraited by Ubisoft. We all need to have an historical perception so we can distance ourselves from our nowadays concepts.
Very well said man. Indeed, prehistoric man did not have the luxury of thinking of higher-order needs Beyond food and shelter. It was indeed a luxury to even have a community, and physical affection at times. Those moments of Joy were extremely fleeting as death came swiftly. Prehistoric man rarely lived past age 30. Concepts like identity, the self, and metacognitive frameworks were not only likely beyond their capacity, but were not something they would be able to trouble themselves with.
Not true. Current behavior dates from about 30,000 years ago. But IGN and the makers of this game, nor you or I actually know what we're talking about.
my opinion. the way they have the story makes sense. it's realistic because how deep did tribes get with politics to make takkar have to do more? they were primitive just surviving.
As someone who’s usually into playing post-apocalyptic open-world first-person shooters like Fallout, Far Cry Primal is a surprisingly fun game despite the absence of guns and instead are replaced with bows due to the timeline you’re in. The effort of immersion by implementing a fictional language is truly an admirable feat. Along with the ability to command animals like the owl for reconnaissance and sabertooth tigers to take damage while you deliver damage from a distance really gives off fantasy vibes for days.
+Boba Fett thats just stupid, a game doesnt need a good story, its nice if its there but it is defenitly not requirement. as long as the gameplay is good than the game is good
Thin plot? Lacklustre villains? This is meant to be the Stone Age where the overriding imperative is survival often at the expense of those outside your group. There is no good versus evil, only one group versus another making these critiques a little wide of the mark IMO. On the other hand, Ubisoft need to come up with a patch to fix those horrendous waterfall effects pronto.
I simply enjoyed playing Far Cry Primal, i always wanted real stone age game placed in the past with mammoths, sabretooths and other animals. The thing is it is put little further where it didn't had dinosaurs. Actually it is put when dinosaurs age times died before 10 000 bne. I liked taming animals, riding mammoths and sabretooths, fighting with/against them but the only thing i didn't liked about this game is respawning enemies everytime when i was doing something. Wolves, Bahri/Udam's, sabretooths and bears. That's the only thing what i didn't liked in the game. Game gives satisfying ending, not endings like in Far Cry 3 and 4 where you have decisions to choose and get unsuspected scenes. Like when Ajay choose which one to kill and other to torture peoples of Kyrat or when Jason choose happy/bad ending it leaves just Credits rolling without being on the boat looking at the sun or at the island in character's perspective view. If Vaas was saved for the end of Far Cry 3 storyline, then it would be interesting. But Hoyt wasn't interesting at all to me like Vaas and Pagan Min. No backstories... Nothing.
I've been playing this game for a while now and I'm absolutely loving it. The problem is that Ubisoft as always doesn't know how to market their game. The weapon list/combat is more balanced and offers far more variety than any previous Far Cry title, but it will seem simplistic to beginners. The wildlife is the best I've ever seen in any game and there's so many bloody animations for all of them that it's incredible. But Ubisoft doesn't mention these things. That's the issue. It's up to the player to find out how surprisingly in-depth this game is and so it's sad that few people actually give Primal a chance.
the game is great, i started at expert and survival to make it more challenging. First i felt it was boring and very basic but after a while i started liking it a lot. The wildlife is magnificent, best one so far specially at night, it makes it scary.
Tiago Goulart I said "look", and I've played enough games over the years to trust my own instincts. This is Farcry 3.2,not surprising seeing as it's been about a year since the last one.
+SNOW SOS I know what you mean and calling it now. Far Cry series is gonna be yearly game release now since Ubisoft took a year off with assassin creed this year
I Pre-Ordered this game and played it yesterday to give it a test run (I also am still working on FarCry 4 so I didn't want to get TOO invested in it yet) but one thing he COMPLETELY left out of all of this is the need for you to find your native tribesmen, get them back to your established camp, build up a army of sorts with sheers numbers, and also build and upgrade buildings for your tribe. It's almost like Star/Warcraft meets FarCry in the stone age. A lot of your upgrades depend on your being able to find and rescue warriors and provide them with appropriate quarters at your base camp. Every so often said base camp is raided which you must help protect. I've only played through about 4 hours or so but already uncovered this and the beast master skills which come in quite handy. It's an extremely fun game and anyone who passes on it simply because this reviewer showed a piss poor looking waterfall on the PS4 version is a n00b. I have it for Xbox One and have yet to come across anything that looked that bad.
This game is so much fun. I've only put in about 7 hours and haven't even done much of the campaign. Sure it seems pretty linear but there's so much to do that I haven't really been aware of how repetitive some of the side missions and all that can be. I'm having way too much fun roaming the plains with a beast and getting attacked by packs of animals. I've played all the far crys and I don't know if this one is entirely better but it's definitely worth a play through.
I actually love the part of no guns and I hope they do more Far Cry games like this in the future but in different time period like the Crusades and something
The reason why Takar is probably so silent is because it isn't meant for us to get to know him: I suppose it was only meant for us to experience the game from our own eyes and own experience, and not guide a character with a set personality through the game. I guess it was mean't to be US that were the hunter.
I like how you can tame a Sabertooth Tiger in this game with a piece of meat and make it follow you around, warding off everything that threatens you. I pretty much walk around the plains like a freaking king and I’ve only been playing the game for maybe a couple days.
After the survival mode patch maybe. Before that, despite loving the game to death, I do think the score is fair because it's mostly a retooling of mechanics from Far Cry 4. One of the best examples of doing that, but it's definitely doing that.
One of the most underrated UBI games. I recently started another playthrough. Such a wonderful game. I wish they would make another one in this time period. I use the Highres texture pack now and it looks absolutely smashing.
PLEASE EXPLAIN!! Why everyone will review a game badly on story, but then something like destiny or even just cause or something's story is over looked and no two games ever get the same points reviewed, you guys continue to make up bad thoughts. "Basic missions"? What about metalgear solid or fallout? Or even call of duty? I didn't hear anything bad about its story? It's just shoot, checkpoint, shoot, checkpoint for 4 hours. It got a good story review and this didn't? Wow, just wow..
I wish reviewers would stop with the numbering in reviews how about giving it a 7.9.1 I like the way acg does it buy it wait for a sale rent it or never buy it so much more simple than a arbitrary number .
+vivid dreaming it's better to rate by intervals of .5 and not by .1 2: reserved for the worst game of all-time (1) 3: a horrible game 4: below average 5: average game (most video games fall in this score) 6: above average (usually top ten best game of year) 7: exceptional (top 3 tier for a year, for example) 8: personal favorites (100 best games) 9: greatest games of all-time (top 50 best games) 10: reserved for greatest game of all time (1) with this system in place, everything is based off a curve and inflation and arbitrary rating go out the window. Because it eliminates the poor to the great, leaving behind most games being mediocre (5) and that's exactly what this game was. A 5/10. it also makes you reevaluate the 100 best games of all-time constantly as new games come out as this system only allows 400-500 games to get an 8 or above.
This was one of the best games I played, I only wish there was a story even for Ull and Batari (you know, like the one in We Happy Few, a story mode for the 3 most important characters) This is just my opinion, you can like it or not, but I think it could've been cool
When I started this game over a year ago I couldn't get into it after fc5. Now I'm hooked, it's a masterpiece that I forgot about. Don't sleep on this game
+ADucksOpinion GTA is NOT 60hours btw, Witcher yes is cramed with content. 20 hours is a lot of game time. If you expect 100hours worth you are going to miss a lot of great games. Not saying this is great... it's okay
I'm playing this on the PS5, it holds up superbly. Looks great & Ubisoft done a terrific job altering the Far Cry formula to fit this time in history. Never thought of playing this much but it's a hidden gem IMO.
I'm a hardcore Far Cry fan, and I'm happy with the game so far. Of course it could of been better in many ways. I wish Far Cry would return to its roots with a true sequel to the first game.
have you played far cry 3 or 4 before? and what did you find fun about Primal? Sorry for so many questions, Im just considering if i should even bother getting it.
lovethepandainyou thnx for that honest review but from that I dont think I want to buy it even when it is cheap. Ill stick with far cry 3 and 4 for now until fc5 if it is good then ill buy it.
The audio however is top notch from great gory weapon hits (insert correct noise here) to the unique bark of a badger skulking nearby (insert correct noise here) to the hum of mosquitoes by a rivers edge (insert human screaming in pain here)
Brig-_- please don't show your stupidity. That's why there are PATCHES for the game. If you don't know what that is, go make some research and improve your IQ
Antonio Garcia i am not acting like one cz i haven't had the game for long so i don't know what they changed I did enjoy the game i thought it was a lot of fun
One of the things i hate is the lack of Extinct Animals. aside from the mammoth and sabertooth tiger , you get pretty much all of the same animals as far cry 4 . once you tame the saber tooth tiger there is no more animal attack threats except from the mammoth . I expected so much more 7/10
I love this game. I love the attempt at authenticity. I love that they don’t speak some form of broken English. I love how The animals are period accurate mostly. I love the strategic use of animal companions. This is one underrated game.
The general lack of direction as far as story goes is noticeable, but I think it worked well with the setting. Character animations and combat are excellent, and other than waterfall effects the water actually looks quite good. I'd give it a solid 8.5-9/10.
I'm inclined to say this is my favourite far cry game. Now I've only played 3 and Blood Dragon and enjoyed both and this is different again so perhaps I have a unique perspective seeing as all three far cry games I've played have all had a different synopsis. common complaint is no guns and my answer to that is there's plenty of games with guns go play one of those, I love that this has no guns. initially I overlooked this myself, it was a game I wanted but was below a few others on the hit list after getting bored of doom and playing this round a mate's I had to get it for myself. a good game to play baked btw really draws you in, cons to that though your gaming skill is put to the test haha
7.9 is not a bad score really. Pretty much an 8 out of 10. I see a lot of commenters upset at this score. I love this game I have played the hell out of it, but it could have done a bit more with melee combat, and keep in mind the survival mode and permadeath options, that in my opinion made the game great, were not in the game at the time of review.
I played 4, and absolutely loved it. playing 5 right now, will play 3 (have it) later. Is this worth it? i think i'd get it mainly for the stealth action and stuff. i do love bows and spears in first person action games
Ubisoft is gradually making worse and worse stories. I can't remember the last time a reviewed Ubisoft game didn't include the con "disappointing story".
I know it's not Skyrim but I hope the next Elder Scrolls takes note of the combat mechanics and world atmosphere. Skyrim was awesome but watching the combat in this makes me wish ubsisoft and Bethesda came to an agreement to do some sort of merger and turn this into another Elder Scrolls with more depth, story, and class options.
Well it's definitely the first stone age game I've ever seen. I don't know what you would expect storywise from a game set in a time that defines primitive. People just survived and little else......at least there should be just the right amount of water for you IGN because the rest of it is still frozen
As much as I love this guy's voice, please note one thing. Honey Badgers are not Badgers. They are not in the badger genus. While they are however sub-categorized in the badger family, they are actually closer related to Martens. Still, they are not badgers.
I Really liked Far Cry Primal. Just finished it on Xbox One, no graphical issues like that water. I do agree that the story did lack some memorable moments. The beasts were the best part of this especially the Owl. the variety they have with the unique abilities wolves, jaguars, bears, dholes, badgers and Sabertooth have could have used a little more. the Owl was fantastic though, loved using that thing. Weapons were nice. I loved going in to get Outposts and Campfires but considering there were only 16 of each that fun didnt last. and unfortunately was getting a little boring with no variety in that system. I Definitely wish they had done more with your own village. upgrading its defenses, making your tribespeople stronger and actually staying at the Outposts I take to give it more life. perhaps having the opposing tribes attack the Outposts like the Udam quest in the early game when the Village is attacked. with how it ended and some solid feedback from the community I definitely think a FCP2 would be a good move if done right. all in all I think it was a solid game, just lacked variety.
Primal's stripped-down approach is fitting for the pre-historic theme. This game takes patience to appreciate the unique experience, seeing as how most fps games are going towards the future. I've just started playing Primal, and so far I'm impressed by the sheer brutality. It's refreshing to get away from another COD clone.
What is the point of a 7.9? Just go to an 8 for god's sake.
+Spooktacular Wheatley it means the game's score is between 7.8 and 8. By the way, I'm Captain Obvious
it didn't deserve a full 8! lol
+Spooktacular Wheatley or 7
+Lancer David no you're lancer David
They can't. Their score has to be different from Gamespot. LOL
I like how people hate this game and are unwilling to try it out just because it doesn't have any guns.
true
Wait till you play Shadow of War, Skyrim, The Witcher OR ANY OTHER NON FPS GAME!!!
Not me lol. Tbh I played 90 percent of Farcry 3, 4 and 5 with the bow and arrow.
@@Willrobert92 for some reason bows are always fun in fps games. Especially the first two Turoks.

It got a good story review and this didn't? Wow, just wow..
I wish reviewers would stop with the numbering in reviews how about giving it a 7.9.1 I like the way acg does it buy it wait for a sale rent it or never buy it so much more simple than a arbitrary number .
+vivid dreaming 7.9.1, eh. Sounds like a my final assignment's chapter I couldn't finish..
+vivid dreaming I like sticking to the numbers, just my preference
Think of instead as out of 100
I agree ...this looks like a wait for sale.
+vivid dreaming it's better to rate by intervals of .5 and not by .1
2: reserved for the worst game of all-time (1)
3: a horrible game
4: below average
5: average game (most video games fall in this score)
6: above average (usually top ten best game of year)
7: exceptional (top 3 tier for a year, for example)
8: personal favorites (100 best games)
9: greatest games of all-time (top 50 best games)
10: reserved for greatest game of all time (1)
with this system in place, everything is based off a curve and inflation and arbitrary rating go out the window. Because it eliminates the poor to the great, leaving behind most games being mediocre (5) and that's exactly what this game was. A 5/10. it also makes you reevaluate the 100 best games of all-time constantly as new games come out as this system only allows 400-500 games to get an 8 or above.
This was one of the best games I played, I only wish there was a story even for Ull and Batari (you know, like the one in We Happy Few, a story mode for the 3 most important characters)
This is just my opinion, you can like it or not, but I think it could've been cool
It's pretty hard to make a deep and meaningful story during the stone age dude

When I started this game over a year ago I couldn't get into it after fc5. Now I'm hooked, it's a masterpiece that I forgot about. Don't sleep on this game
Agreed
"5.5 - Not Cod" - IGN
The last good Far Cry game was Far Cry 3
100% agree
All the reviews on far cry 4 disagree with you and so do I.
+theDamon2781 You mean Far Cry 3.1? Because almost every element from far cry 3 was in far cry 4, just with an Asian overlay on it.
+lozerisdead999 Well that's usually how every game series ever made works.
+theDamon2781 Lol far cry 4 had the same weapons as far cry 3. How lazy can Ubisoft developers be
did he say he beat a $60 game in 20 hours?! no thanks..
$20 hours?
20hours is a lot!
20 hours is not alot.. if im buying a game for $60 i need 60 hours worth in it.. Like gta.. Witcher.. Ect...
+ADucksOpinion GTA is NOT 60hours btw, Witcher yes is cramed with content. 20 hours is a lot of game time. If you expect 100hours worth you are going to miss a lot of great games. Not saying this is great... it's okay
+ADucksOpinion 20 hours is a lot from most AAA games, except RPGs. But I agree what you're saying, I'm going to get this when it's in sale.
A question for the people who played Primal, is it worth getting and is it fun?
Yh its gr8 fun I got for ps4 cos it was on sale and have been playing it non-stop.
have you played far cry 3 or 4 before? and what did you find fun about Primal? Sorry for so many questions, Im just considering if i should even bother getting it.
lovethepandainyou thnx for that honest review but from that I dont think I want to buy it even when it is cheap. Ill stick with far cry 3 and 4 for now until fc5 if it is good then ill buy it.
Harrison Qu $15 on psn store just got it played 1 hr and its really fun
Harrison Qu It's fun af.
The audio however is top notch
from great gory weapon hits (insert correct noise here)
to the unique bark of a badger skulking nearby (insert correct noise here)
to the hum of mosquitoes by a rivers edge (insert human screaming in pain here)
3:40 where is that terribly looking water i couldn't find it anywhere looking like that
Brig-_- please don't show your stupidity. That's why there are PATCHES for the game. If you don't know what that is, go make some research and improve your IQ
Antonio Garcia i assumed it was a patch and i don't read the patch notes
My iq is fine no need to call me stupid
+Shafik Sayegh well then don't act like one! Anyways did you enjoy the game?
Antonio Garcia i am not acting like one cz i haven't had the game for long so i don't know what they changed
I did enjoy the game i thought it was a lot of fun
Shafik Sayegh luckily it's a bug
One of the things i hate is the lack of Extinct Animals. aside from the mammoth and sabertooth tiger , you get pretty much all of the same animals as far cry 4 . once you tame the saber tooth tiger there is no more animal attack threats except from the mammoth . I expected so much more 7/10
It's like skyrim with gu.... Wait never mind
+Imme Matt It's like Skyrim with spears...
@@XxRDZ15xX yeah, the ign reviewer
Just come from a Fallout review?
I love this game. I love the attempt at authenticity. I love that they don’t speak some form of broken English. I love how The animals are period accurate mostly. I love the strategic use of animal companions. This is one underrated game.
"Not a multiplayer shooter, 7/10" -IGN
one of my best gaming experiences over the last three decades. Full of adventure and primitive sense of life and community.
Honestly this game is pretty great. I've only been playing a couple hours, but it works for me as a "play this until you get 5" kind of thing.
The general lack of direction as far as story goes is noticeable, but I think it worked well with the setting. Character animations and combat are excellent, and other than waterfall effects the water actually looks quite good. I'd give it a solid 8.5-9/10.
The most nature based game ever. beautiful. I wish I was a Beastmaster and tamed beasts.
In 10,000 years there will be a game similar to far cry primal where the protagonist will be using guns and tech we have now.
Just a reskin of Far Cry 4
+Deadpool right!
Oh please.
D.O.N.T
But shorter with less content.
Which was a reskin of Far cry 2..... which was a reskin of Far Cry 1.
+Moyukh Shabon far cry 2 and 3 were completely different fam.
This game is a 9.0 this review 7 years later still hasn’t aged well. It’s one of the greatest of the series and it was 7 years ago amazing
I love Far Cry Primal, I can't believe most people hate it
IKR. i think the progression system of primal must be a standard for the other games. far cry 5 literally forces us to fight the bosses
far cry primal is much better than far cry 4, am i the only one ?
Darkshock CZ Yes, yes you are
4 seems like a ripoff version of far cry 3 with horrible story. Far cry primal is much better.
toky tahmid primal literally stole the map from fc4
I think that too
I played 4, and absolutely loved it. playing 5 right now, will play 3 (have it) later. Is this worth it? i think i'd get it mainly for the stealth action and stuff. i do love bows and spears in first person action games
Ubisoft is gradually making worse and worse stories. I can't remember the last time a reviewed Ubisoft game didn't include the con "disappointing story".
South park stick of truth
I believe Assassins Creed 4
That's bullshit. AC Rogue and AC Syndicate have great stories
Matthew Hoover
You sound like you can't spell.
Tbh they don't have much to work with here
Definitely deserves a 9 out of 10 in my opinion, and should be held on the same pedestal as Blood Dragon “!
Damn that waterfall was too real I thought I was watching a movie that was CRAZY MAN
Maybe the reason i think this looks so amazingly fun is cause i haven't played any of the past far cry games so it seems all new to me.
Brought is game from cex for £5 today im so hooked on it
This guy could easily be the new voice over for the outback steakhouse commercials
Such a fantastic game! Just needs map expansion and coop to be the perfect game 👍
Damn that waterfall.. lol Didn't even give it mind till pointed it out, now it will never go away.
"It's like Skyrim with guns" Funhaus reference!
It’s like Skyrim with guns… without guns.
Bought to game and am really enjoying it, all the haters that are not gonna play it good for you.
Combat- Badass
Open World- Awesome
Mission design- Average
Animal Taming- Great
Repetitive missions?- Definitely
Well it's definitely the first stone age game I've ever seen. I don't know what you would expect storywise from a game set in a time that defines primitive. People just survived and little else......at least there should be just the right amount of water for you IGN because the rest of it is still frozen
this guy was a good reviewer hope he will review more
I will be getting Primal I love the RPGs elements in the game and the world looks brutal so it's a day 1 buy for me
As much as I love this guy's voice,
please note one thing. Honey Badgers are not Badgers. They are not in the badger genus.
While they are however sub-categorized in the badger family, they are actually closer related to Martens.
Still, they are not badgers.
After street fighter got a 8 cant trust anything they say
Based on the reviews and the fact this game is only in subtitles means I'll be renting this instead of buying it.
Don't it's horrible
Poor
It's not bad
+Heisenberg Too late!
Lmfaooo. He said I'll rent it 😂
If Luke Reilly and Idotech co-reviewed a game you couldn't tell which was which when they talked.
Good review btw.
2:10 that guy is a reference to Hurk from the other far cry games
Primal's stripped-down approach is fitting for the pre-historic theme. This game takes patience to appreciate the unique experience, seeing as how most fps games are going towards the future. I've just started playing Primal, and so far I'm impressed by the sheer brutality. It's refreshing to get away from another COD clone.
this game is underrated af i had a ton of fun playing it(yeah it definitely isnt perfect) but it delivers, big time
The only problem I have with this is the lack of a brooding villain, like Pagan or Vaas.
Just bought this game for 12 bucks .Gonna play it after I'm done with FC5.
Already played farcry 6 and went playing primal
