I like to imagine that the bishops made their own themes. Leshy didn't even know what instruments were there so he just kinda did his thing, Heket wanted heavy vocals, but forgot about the 'no throat' situation, Kallamar was not even sure what he was supposed to do and just tried to figure out what the instruments did, and Shamura was smart enough to know the song should mean something and settled on them being insane because not every injury means you can't play an instrument.
Sorry for being late, but each one of the Bishop's theme songs means something, In Leshy's theme, they use guitar sounds, because you need to see if you want to play on the guitar. In Heket's theme, they use a ton of voices because you need a throat to sing voices. In Kallamar's theme, they use a lot of flute sounds, because you need to hear to know what tone you made on the flute. And Shamura's theme uses a lot of electronical sounds, because you need to think in order to make those sounds happen. All of which correlates with their injuries, Leshy see no evil, Heket speak no evil, Kallamar hear no evil, and Shamura think no evil
In a way this song gives me this sense of Shamura's.. Well I wouldn't quite call it desperation.. But more of a pointless effort. A well fought effort but something I feel Shamura accepts as an inevitable end. This isn't a fight of survival.. It's something else.. More of a fight of your regrets. It's almost an eloquent resignation to giving in. Fight it as much as they could this battle would only end in death. A fight to show that they will not hide, they will not run away from the monster they created. It's time they've become that nothing they speak of. "He of havoc, he of blight; she of hunger, they of might. Five becomes four becomes three becomes two becomes one becomes nothing." Shamura was aware their fall and the others to Narinder was just.. Great analysis! That whining, high-pitched synth, which alternates between muffled and clean sounding, like a pulsing headache, is a final cherry on the cake that helps to truly feel Shamura's feelings during his final standoff.
Old comment, so forgive my necro-ing. But I think you're right. Beginning is very harsh and paced. It's a final cry of spite. But as the song goes on it starts to take on a more confused and demented mix reflecting his confused state and desire for war. But as the beat goes on we get very pointed, a lot more calm tapping like gestures from the piano - if it is a piano - giving the impression of a pulse or time. When the song reaches it's end. It's start to become actually rather relaxed, even belated in a sense. Like, in a weird way in accepting his fall he's being released from his regrets and the doomed future he predicted. I don't think he even WANTS to win, even if he think he could. He dosen't have much to live for at this point and you get that impression from him. The way even the chorus kicks in is less "I'm gonan kill ya. I'm gonna get ya" and more "finally. The end of the mountain climb. Now all I got to do is play my role and go out with dignity" Even at the end. He was still trying his best to be the deity of war. After all, wars are fought for lost causes all the time. It makes them no less deadly, threatening, nor noble.
As the oldest of the Bishops, Shamura was wise and caring. Throughout centuries, their knowledge and guidance led to peace for their brethren, and their siblings, where everything was led by harmony. It wasn’t until one day that their close brother, the fifth bishop, would seek power for himself and create the world in his image. To prevent their brother from taking over the land, Shamura along with their other siblings, trapped him in chains, forced into subjugation where he would never harm anyone. However, it didn’t succeed without a consequence. Shamura’s skull was shattered, leading their mind to become hazy and weakened with their brain being vulnerable. Although no longer wise, they continued to protect their people from any other heretics. Until they received a vision. A prophecy that one day, the sacrificial lamb would end their existence and free their brother from imprisonment. That was when they drove into madness, becoming the god of betrayal, who would make followers turn against their own tribe, reflecting the betrayal of their dear brother.
The thing I like about this boss theme is that it feels less like a boss fight against the bishops and more of a duel between you and shamura as they are the only thing stopping the one who waits from taking over the world.
Fun fact game the bishops: when you defeat them and see ??? They said that the bishops are in the purgatory fighting for all eternity for their actions. But until their followers summoned the bishops back to the world. This could also be why they could talk to you. Even Shamura accepted that they deserved this. From the statue fight. So maybe shamura can show some empathy towards others but still be evil.
I don't think it's not as back and white. Narinder and the bishops all had they’re role. It's inplied that Narinder hated that he was the god of death (and therefore not abel to grow because death never evolves like knowledge or chaos does) and wanted to change that And Shamura being the eldest sibling had to do something before something horrible happens, the problem was they didn't want to kill their baby brother because of how much they loved him. Narinder and his siblings did all bad things to try to do the good thing.
Just realize a line of Shamura that refers to the Bishops "He of havoc, he of blight, she of hunger, they of might" Havoc = Leshy Blight = Kallamar Hunger = Heket Might = Shamura
She was the oldest of the Bishops of Old Faith and the most pious of them all. All her life she sought wisdom. But it was all for naught, since she couldn't predict that one of their brethren would betray them. And in that moment, when The One Who Waits cracked her skull, her mind was overflowed with pain, madness...and revelations. One of it still buzzez in her head: "Five becomes four becomes three becomes two becomes one becomes nothing." And that madness gave her new powers. Powers to cloud the minds and plunge them into chaos.
I still appreciate how the musical scheme of Shamura is probably reverse. With the other bishops their boss theme is the intense version of the theme for the minibosses of their respective domain. While here the miniboss theme of Silk Cradle sounds like the more intense version of Shamura's theme
the song sounds like a throbbing headache, but like in the good lore kind of way by that i mean it kinda goes in and out of being muffled which i think is rly cool B)

It was just pure chaos, and this song made it an even better experience.

Yeah you're right, in the battle of Narinder, each of the Bishops had to make a sacrifice in order to seal him. Leshy, his eyes, Heket, her throat, Kallamar, his ears, and Shamura her head or her/thier skull.

My sis defeated Shamura first try while screaming. I defeated them first try aswell, i made thru half their fight hitless tbh, and their theme is such a jam.
I really like how when shamura's bandages disappear, revealing his brain, is shows that the crown is fused to its head like a parasite. It could also be the only think keeping him alive.
I just noticed that the boss themes seem to have less of a backtrack as you get further into the game. With Leshy's theme you can hear a chorus in the background. Heket's theme has lots of instruments but only her voice is heard. Kallamar's theme is mostly just the main melody, and then Shamura's theme just feels weak, almost muffled. Its because you are killing off all the members/supporters of the old faith. Im probably overthinking it but it could be true
Not only that but you're also supposed to be in a dark poorly lit spider nest, the track is supposed to be choking you in darkness without being bombastic.
So, I've been curious about something, mainly, their divinity. So, the crowns are one of two things, they're either the source of their power or the representative of it, and i am personally a believer of the former since the lamb gets powers from the red crown, which leads to my second thought, could anyone put on a crown and become a god, where do the crowns come from, are they like lantern rings and just find a new host once their previous one dies. Anyhow, enough needing, cool boss fight, awesome music, great game, i hope to see more out of it in potential expansions or sequels
SPOILER WARNING I think the Red Crown is slightly different to the others, and here's why: When we meet Shamura in the Silk Cradle, they explain that The One Who Waits ruled over the domain of Death, which is the only domain of the Old Faith that is naturally unchanging. TOWW wanted the ability to control and change how Death worked, and Shamura gave him that ability (which I assume is the Red Crown) So the way I see it, the Crowns are vessels of power that give the Bishops the ability to change how their domains work. But I don't think all of their divine power lies within the Crowns, as we see with TOWW at the end, he still very much has godlike power despite not having the Red Crown. Yet again, I think the Red Crown is extra special, because it allows the wearer to change Death, which is not meant to be changed. I think because of this, the Red Crown holds more power than the others, and more power even than its intended wearer The One Who Waits. As for where they come from, it's not clear but I think Shamura plays a part in that. Its definitely heavily implied that Shamura gave TOWW the Red Crown, so it's not a stretch to assume they have the means to either make them, or procure them from higher gods (for example, ??? in the new DLC, who makes a comment about how they knew Shamura before their head injury). It definitely makes sense given that Shamura claims Knowledge as their domain, that they would know of this secret.
I personally always thought Shamura uses plural due to being the central nexus of a hive mind and is basically the one to speak for the entire swarm as a result. (Or, more humorously/disturbingly, that they forgot their own gender due to massive cranial trauma)
The hive mind theory is fine I like the non-binary one but I’m open to the concept of both A horrific controlling force of the silk cradle who happens to be they/them😊
"Though i am no longer wise i am no fool..i know the end drawith near..knock knock..the lamb comes to raze...end of days end of days" "And in my impudence i loved him for it..ohhh i lost my mind...and for it he lost his freedom..can you FATHOM the betrayal lamb! to be cast asunder.. by your own kind! Do you wish to find out!" "oh..leader im sorry"
Experience with the boss: Was worried,so just called my two favorite followers to help. Them,i reached it with a little sword that did 1.9 attack, and damn was so shit running that didn't even know WHO was the boss. I didn't have the ressurection crown ability and to not lose my count of clearing every dungeon without deaths,i left. "Silk Cradle. The ancient homeland of the long-dead gods. The cradle of civilization. The greatest stronghold of the Old Faith. It was the first place Shamura conquered, the first jewel on the young spider's crown before they conquered the world or the birth of their kin. Shamura made their silk cradle completely and utterly their own over thousands of years of war and history. There was a grand midnight beauty to it, a violet crescent moon beaming down soft purple light shining down, white stone idols of a young Shamura overlooking it all, the twisted trees swaying in the wind, tunnels of secrets, grand palaces and cities, silk harvested to create clothes and canopies, pottery vases painted with runes and knowledge and history stuffed in the nooks and crannies of it all by a small army of disciplines, the great relics of the gods Shamura slew kept as works of art and treasured, the spoils of war flooding Shamura's land with riches and beauty. It was a realm worthy of the mightiest of gods. It was the place Shamura prided themself most on, their greatest achievement, loved like a child. But there was nothing left of that now. Nothing lived in this gray, desolate place expect for bugs and bones, and Shamura, mumbling and alone at the center of it all, their siblings dead, their life destroyed and their glory decayed. Just like Shamura's mind, Silk Cardle was infested and in ruins. "
Leshy: Oversized Worm boi Heket: just a giant toad with many teeth Kallamar: four armed squid with the rights of a gun and many weapons Narinder: Mutated cat Shamura: very fast bastard
I thought Shamura was female, along with Heket, considering that she has a bunch of eggs that hatch during the bossfight, I just assumed that they were hers
I honestly think this track fits Kallamar more. It’s quiet and discordant, and the instruments almost feel… distant in a way? And you know Kallamar’s kind of a bullet-hell boss. In fact, I’m nearly convinced that they were supposed to be the other way around, cause Kallamar’s theme is very orchestral and dramatic, but also sad, which would be fitting for the final, vain attempt to kill you that is Shamura. Plus Kallamar’s music is just more memorable.
Shamura was easy for me, i'm not sure if they're meant to be but i was able to "no hit" them, first try. Heket was my least favorite boss, she was basically unpredictable and had me just hitting her at any chance I was given and losing 10 hearts.
@@don_kixotejoga Shamura is confirmed as they/them, same goes for the lamb. Although most people seem to lean on the idea of the sheep being male. I shall correct Heket tho-
My problem with Heket is that her tongue attack’s telegraph is awful, and there’s no way to dodge her hop attack if you’re next to her when she does it.
On my first attempt I had godly hammer and about 950% damage boost from golden fleece (before it got nerfed), literally killed her in about 3-4 hits, got both the kill and the no damage achievements on the first try, which honestly felt kinda anticlimactic. The game was hyping her up to be this 1000 attempt type of boss and I just body her first try. My advice, practice dodging, like a lot
It's interesting how since Shamura is deaf or hearing impaired from his injuries, his theme is a mumble mix of noises and music, that you can't tell exactly what it is, as if you can't hear them clearly.
This is in 8/8 right? I'm not too good at identifying time signatures but this sounds like 8/something. If so that's pretty cool, seeing as spiders have 8 legs :>
I dont see how this theme represents shamura's Skull being caved in.. The vocals fading in and out for kallamar is because of his ears being torn off And hekets more strange vocals is because of the throat being ripped.. I dont see how this one is for the skull
Leshy: is a tunneling worm

SPOILER WARNING
I think the Red Crown is slightly different to the others, and here's why:
When we meet Shamura in the Silk Cradle, they explain that The One Who Waits ruled over the domain of Death, which is the only domain of the Old Faith that is naturally unchanging. TOWW wanted the ability to control and change how Death worked, and Shamura gave him that ability (which I assume is the Red Crown)
So the way I see it, the Crowns are vessels of power that give the Bishops the ability to change how their domains work.
Shamura has a vibe goin on rn

This one always makes me feel like Shamura is sobbing and heaving, all the feelz from the story
This soundtrack is just as amazing as the game is.
this cultist spider is a certified nonbinary icon
That’s the thing I like about C.O.T.L
I personally always thought Shamura uses plural due to being the central nexus of a hive mind and is basically the one to speak for the entire swarm as a result.
(Or, more humorously/disturbingly, that they forgot their own gender due to massive cranial trauma)
Of course this is by a splatoon pfp😂😂
@@SomeRandom64 whatcha expect
The hive mind theory is fine I like the non-binary one but I’m open to the concept of both
A horrific controlling force of the silk cradle who happens to be they/them😊
"Though i am no longer wise i am no fool..i know the end drawith near..knock knock..the lamb comes to raze...end of days end of days" "And in my impudence i loved him for it..ohhh i lost my mind...and for it he lost his freedom..can you FATHOM the betrayal lamb! to be cast asunder.. by your own kind! Do you wish to find out!" "oh..leader im sorry"
Aw shit, spiders, they’re everywhere
Experience with the boss:
Was worried,so just called my two favorite followers to help. Them,i reached it with a little sword that did 1.9 attack, and damn was so shit running that didn't even know WHO was the boss.
I didn't have the ressurection crown ability and to not lose my count of clearing every dungeon without deaths,i left.
Returned again, with a axe that did 10 damage and frick just spammed and won
Loved the amount of shit happening in the fight
(Rank:9/10)
I will go to the final gate now,bye guys.

the shamura brain is very broken
This song reminds me of being in a demonic night club for some reason
2:08 just makes me feel sad

my favorite song of all the bishops
2:08 best part
Leshy: Oversized Worm boi
Heket: just a giant toad with many teeth
Kallamar: four armed squid with the rights of a gun and many weapons
Narinder: Mutated cat
Shamura: very fast bastard

Shamura’s level:
*I scurry, you scurry, we all scurry.*
It’s cool to see that no one made a big deal at all about the fact that they were non-binary same thing with Lambert
they kind of just were
I thought Shamura was female, along with Heket, considering that she has a bunch of eggs that hatch during the bossfight, I just assumed that they were hers
@@crazylegs299 well at least you know heket was female. People always say "oH hEkEt iS BoY CuZ ThEiR VoIcE"

the four bishops in a nutshell
leshy: 🙈
heket: 🙊
kallamar: 🙉
shamura: 🤪
I honestly think this track fits Kallamar more. It’s quiet and discordant, and the instruments almost feel… distant in a way? And you know Kallamar’s kind of a bullet-hell boss.
In fact, I’m nearly convinced that they were supposed to be the other way around, cause Kallamar’s theme is very orchestral and dramatic, but also sad, which would be fitting for the final, vain attempt to kill you that is Shamura.
Plus Kallamar’s music is just more memorable.
I'd say you're looking for Kallamar Punihsed
listening to this with headphones.... I feel like a lunatic? not suprised since this is the battle theme of someone whose skull is split in half

Shamura was easy for me, i'm not sure if they're meant to be but i was able to "no hit" them, first try. Heket was my least favorite boss, she was basically unpredictable and had me just hitting her at any chance I was given and losing 10 hearts.
Heket is a she also :)
Shamura is not confirmed sadly
@@don_kixotejoga Shamura is confirmed as they/them, same goes for the lamb. Although most people seem to lean on the idea of the sheep being male.
I shall correct Heket tho-
@@sabertoothno34 oh wow
For me both Shamura and Lamb was boys and will probably forget calling them "Theys''
But thanks for the info
Yeah, Heket's shockwave hops always got me
My problem with Heket is that her tongue attack’s telegraph is awful, and there’s no way to dodge her hop attack if you’re next to her when she does it.
shamura and leshy are EASY!

My last achievement I have to get is peace, the only things actually giving me hope are glass cannon fleece and hounds of fate XVIII
Shamura is neither deaf, nor male
This is in 8/8 right? I'm not too good at identifying time signatures but this sounds like 8/something. If so that's pretty cool, seeing as spiders have 8 legs :>
Yooooo who gave Shamura permission to have such a bop theme??? :0
is the spider trying to make up a song?
"Gotta lock in" ahh boss theme
Spider dance party
Waaaiiittt is it me or is Shamura’s theme in a different key than the other Bishops’?

If Nosk was cool
Shamura was a joke. Killed em in 1 minute or less.
kallamar was harder than shamura smh
I dont see how this theme represents shamura's Skull being caved in.. The vocals fading in and out for kallamar is because of his ears being torn off
And hekets more strange vocals is because of the throat being ripped..
I dont see how this one is for the skull
