    The contrast between the deep blue of the water, clouds, and light blue sky was incredible.
    Thank you for being real, relatable, and human! 😊
    We have a big maple tree in our yard that creaks in the breeze when fully leaved. I love it!

    Love your style…and love “trail trials”! 😅 Best of luck in your thruhike. Maybe we’ll cross paths this summer…my husband and I set out on 5/1 from somewhere slightly north of MD to finish the AT in one long LASH.

    Smart preparation. Backpacking 8-10 hours a day in North Georgia during early March the water bottles will freeze at the top making it difficult to drink. Turn the bottles upside down on the shoulder straps and when sleeping place the bottles upside down in the side pockets of the pack. 2 cents. Favor Follows You!

    Just gave you a follow, excited to watch your thru-hike experience this year, planning for my own adventure one day. I'm from Bama so the cold weather gear info is appreciated

    Good idea for shakedown hikes. Ref water bottle attachment. I have Superior Wilderness Designs packs and I love their water bottle pouch. I keep a 750ml Smart water bottle in it. The pouch cinches closed on the bottle with one hand, and the bottle is easy to remove with one hand with the pack on. I've never had a bottle fall out. I carry one bottle on my left strap and a Chicken Tramper Underground Gear zippered pouch on the right strap. I carry any extra water bottles in the pack side pouches. I'll refill the 750ml water bottle at rest breaks. I learned the hard way not to use a 1 liter bottle on the pack strap when the cap hit me in the eye during a fall.
    You can use one of your elastic cords you are using for your water bottle to secure the Garmin to the strap in addition to the Garmin carabiner. Wrapping the cord around the Garmin body will keep it from bouncing around. Simply wrap the cord around both the strap and Garmin forming a bight in the cord and secure it to the strap by putting the cord clip through the bight (cord loop).
    Note: I replaced the CTUG attachment clips that have an annoying tip on the clip with reusable cable tie straps (hook and pile type fasteners) to attach the pouch to the shoulder strap.

      Thanks! That water bottle holder looks way more user friendly! I am keeping that in mind if I don’t master mine soon!

      @HikeByFaithAT2025 I tried to figure a way to attach a photo of my setup , but don't see how. I don't see your email in your channel, so I couldn't send it that way either.

    I used my husbands day pack the other day (helping him as we went scouting). It killed my shoulders & hurt my neck after carrying. I weighed it & down as shocked it only weighted 14 pounds!!! My big pack for camping fully loaded is more comfortable than his. It is amazing to get the right pack.

    Comfortable back and comfortable feet when hiking is worth paying $$ for the better gear!

    You'll only be carrying 1 liter of water. (drink as much as you can when you stop to filter)

      I do my 1 L bottle for water and the smaller bottle for my electrolyte mix.

      It’s fine to probably train with a weeks worth of food. However, the most you will ever get close to carrying is 6 Days in the Hundred Mile Wilderness (even less if you use a Shaw’s Food Drop). To start from Springer, 4-5 is the most to get to Neels Gap and even then, you will usually have and extra 1-3 meal combinations of Dinner, Breakfasts, Lunch Depending on arrival time of Town Stops. Relax though, plans go by the wayside and the Trail Works the worries out.

      Agreed. I had 5 days of food with me, which is what I’m planning to do between resupplies. That’s what I meant by a week, although that most certainly is not a week 😂

      @gboltonatrail1099 2 дня назад

      @ Totally get that and just trying to be positive and helpful, because over carrying food was a big issue for me for over 1/2 the trail. Again, you are well prepared and Trial hikes only will make the start, that much more enjoyable!
