4/20/2020 Hi Mr. Charles! I am revisiting your videos this year as I plant my garden. They are always so helpful even if you've planted before. Hope you're getting your garden going and staying healthy through these crazy times! We are planting 2 100ft rows of pole beans this year and 1 of them will be rattlesnake beans. We love our fresh beans throughout the summer and hope to have plenty to can this year! Last week, we planted the tomatoes you gave us from your class at CT Garvins. I can't wait to try them! We had to up pot them twice, they were beyond ready to go out! Hope to see you again soon! Grow big!
The Rattle Snake Pole Beans are an heirloom, meaning you can save seed. But if you plant them close to other beans then they will cross pollinate and the saved seeds will no longer be Rattle Snake Pole Beans. Thanks for watching my videos, please subscribe. OAG

I really appreciate all the effort you put into making your videos and thus educating others. Your videos remind me of when I would visit my grandparents farm on vacation from up north. They grew everything even peanuts. Loved when everyone would gather around in a circle and start shelling peas or butter beans. Afraid a lot of today's kids don't know what its like to have purple fingers. Please keep the videos coming.
I live in Fl Panhandle. Just built greenhouse for Mrs. She gave me one side for veggie garden. I get 18ft x 3.5ft. JM, now I got to get off this computer and get outside and start working. Hello Roslyn and thank you for watching this video. I will keep on making videos as long as my health holds up. I'm getting old (77 years old) so one never knows what will happen next. Thanks for stopping by. OAG
OldAlabamaGardener I grew up in East Tennessee (Hancock County). I've been in Georgia for many years. It's just plain hot. Try to stay cool in Alabama, I know it's hot there too.
Susan, have you had time to watch my video on canning green beans with vinegar (no pressure canner needed)? You may watch it at: ruclips.net/video/uC2zAQPOfHk/видео.html OAG
Exactly how I'll grow my Scarlet Emperor runner beans. I make a 10 cane avenue, pull the opposites to cross at the top, string together and stabilise with a stout cane along the top. It defeats high breezes. I'm also training a five foot trough full of six or eight plants clinging onto green netting on the side of my shed. Wish me luck. Thanks for your guidance from East Sussex, U.K.
Hello Oldesouth Farm: How is the weather down your way (SW Alabama isn't it)? Removing some, but certainly not all leaves helps me to see the green beans and removing some on the leaves doesn't seem to hurt the plant after it gets to the top of the trellis. Thanks for stopping by. OAG
Removing the foliage just like with tomato plants is interesting. Where I am it's quite cold so beans are generally just quite sluggish, I've only just started experimenting with growing them and feel like removing foliage might not be a great idea in my climate. I will see if they pick up as the weather should get a little warmer.
Thanks for your clear and easy to follow steps. Love the written steps screen. I do a screen save and reference this often. You could also print this and make a ring binder folder with how to tips. Thanks!
Thanks Mike, I like to keep things simple, that is why I do it this way. I want an inexperienced gardener to follow my steps and be successful in growing vegetables. Is there something else that you would like me to make written steps on? Thanks for stop[ping by. OAG
Lynn, removing some of the leaves makes it so much easier to see the beans that are ready to pick and it doesn't seem to hurt the plant at all. Thanks for watching my videos. OAG
Hello my friend, OAG! I hope you had a great Easter! I can't wait to get started with my beans this year....going to try some new varieties, like the Red Noodle Bean among others. Our market garden is making great progress and all the neighbors are on board (it's a miracle LOL). I don't think I've heard anyone mentioning the eye of the bean, as always you have the most thorough growing guide on YT! I'll be using your growing guides to help one of my neighbors learn how to grow different vegetables, it'll be super easy for her to get started that way :) Thank you for once again for putting these fabulous videos together!
Hi LaJuana! I think you will like it, and you can adjust the ingredients as you would like, for example I didn't put any salt in them. Your encouraging words help me to continue making start to finish video. Thank you! OAG

Hello Lee. I like pole beans because they keep on producing whereas bush beans usually only have one or two good pickings. Thanks for commenting on this video. OAG
I should have planted beans earlier. But I think I will try 5 or 6 plants now. Decided it is too hot and I have enough to do right now. I will start some in a couple of weeks for a fall trial.

I just ordered your sauce on Amazon, and can't wait to try it. I've never grown green beans for a fall harvest, but I'm going to start them tomorrow, and should have enough time for them to come in. I love green beans and this recipe looks really good, so I will try it as soon as I get the Coconut Aminos sauce. I just love how you show the entire growing of each vegetable, it made me look up the beans to see if I could still plant them, and I can. Woo Hoo! I do have a local Farmers Market here, and will be getting some this weekend, so maybe I will even get to can some this year too. It's so good to get that "perk" back to start planting again. Bless you, Sheila
Sheila, thank you for your encouraging words. I think you will like the green beans with Coconut amines and it will be a lot less salt than Soy sauce. I fell that seeing the whole process, from starting the seeds to putting in on the table helps you to see that you can do it! I am happy you feel like gardening again. Thanks for stopping by. OAG
Hello my friend! Getting ready to put another bean trellis together, got your Rattlesnake babies in the ground, now I'm doing my red noodle beans :) I just saw that you got to meet Kaye Kittrell from the Late Bloomer episodes! I subscribe to various gardening channels and I must say - You have a very unique style to your "how to ...". Please do not change the signature style. They are nicely Done! 💓 watching every video!
Thank you very much! When I first started watching RUclips videos, it was very frustrating that a video title would say "How to grow" and then not show or tell how to grow. So, I decided that I would make videos that you can follow and have success with your own garden. I do try to keep it simple, to the point and with enough details so you can do it as I am doing it. Thank you for watching and thank you for subscribing. OAG

Those bean look so good! Am waiting for mine too, they grow well and taller than the trellis you gave me as well as the bitter melon 😁 I saw a few tiny melon today! Can't wait to see them grow and stirred fry them with egg. TFS ... Alice
Love this and very timely! My beans are getting really bushy at the bottom of the trestle they are growing on. I'm going to pick some of the leaves off! Going to try your recipe, too! Thanks for sharing!! 😊

Hello Nunda, and thank you for subscribing to my channel. I live in north Alabama, within one mile of the TN line and about in the center of the state on a east to west direction. As to my videos, go to my home page and click on the word "VIDEOS" and you will see a list (Thumb nails) of my 270 videos. Thanks for watching and I welcome your comments and questions. OAG
Nunda, when you have time, watch how I build my green bean trellis at: ruclips.net/video/nE92hZvcmgo/видео.html Which are your favorite vegetables? OAG
OldAlabamaGardener Very cool! Can't wait to watch! I planted Missouri Wonders and Kentucky Wonders this year to compare and see which I prefer. The MW are fuller and already putting out beans. The KW are taller and haven't seen any beans yet. Raining a lot here but first chance I get I'm going to thin out the leaves near the bottom. They could be hiding from me!! LOL!! I love a lot of homegrown vegetables. Tastes so much better than even the organic store bought ones, but my favorite are tomatoes and corn! Yum!! Can't wait to see the rest of your videos!! 😊
I like to see different types of gardening and I can honestly say your using soil blocks for your green beans is something I have never done, I would be scared of transplanting a green been I have big hands and would be afraid I would break the stem of the plant. I also have never seen anybody remove the leaves, it never crossed my mind to do that I always thin my plants outs to were they have 6 inches between them and that allows me some picking room but as you know once they start their trellis climb they have a mind of their own. I would enjoy being able to sit and discuss some different growing styles with you and compare notes.
TGR: Direct sowing of seeds as you describe also works. I do direct sow many different vegetable seeds. As to you and I sitting down to discuss gardening, I guess it would depend on where you are located. I usually only remove the leaves on one side, of course that makes it much more easy to find the ready to pick beans. Thanks for stopping by. OAG
Well, we are not too far apart. I am 40 to 60 minutes from the GA line. Do you know where Scottsboro, AL is located? I am still a little west of that town. Which town are you close by? OAG
Thank you Leah and welcome to my videos. I like to know about where my RUclips friends are located, so about where do you live? Thanks for subscribing. OAG

Sir I live in Marshall County Alabama. I want to thank you for all your videos. So much of what you teach my Grandfather and my father did very similar. How far apart do you prefer to plant your pole beans?
Hello and welcome to my videos. I plant pole beans about 10 inches apart in the row. You see in my videos, I prefer to start seeds in soil blocks and then transplant the seedling out in the garden, this gives me much better numbers of plants in the row. Why can’t we sow them directly in ground?

OldAlabamaGardener I grew up in East Tennessee (Hancock County). I've been in Georgia for many years. It's just plain hot. Try to stay cool in Alabama, I know it's hot there too.
I can't wait till RUclips will let us taste your green beans also. thanks for sharing I love green beans have a great day. 💜
Susan, have you had time to watch my video on canning green beans with vinegar (no pressure canner needed)? You may watch it at: ruclips.net/video/uC2zAQPOfHk/видео.html
OAG
Exactly how I'll grow my Scarlet Emperor runner beans. I make a 10 cane avenue, pull the opposites to cross at the top, string together and stabilise with a stout cane along the top. It defeats high breezes. I'm also training a five foot trough full of six or eight plants clinging onto green netting on the side of my shed. Wish me luck. Thanks for your guidance from East Sussex, U.K.
Sounds like you have a good plan. Green beans are easy to grow. Thank you for watching my videos, please subscribe.
OAG
Looks great will try your recipe for green beans and the pulling of the bean leaves is so clever. Thank you!
Love your start to finish videos .The beans looked delicious, will try your recipe once our growing season begins in August .
It is a good tasting recipe, I think you will like it. Thanks for stopping by.

Love this! Very thorough- thank you for posting
I would never have thought to have taken leaves off of bean plants, it turned out to be a really good idea didn't it? The recipe looks fabulous.
Lynn, removing some of the leaves makes it so much easier to see the beans that are ready to pick and it doesn't seem to hurt the plant at all. Thanks for watching my videos.

C. have you ever grown Rattle Snake Pole Beans? I will send you some seeds.

Thank you very much! When I first started watching RUclips videos, it was very frustrating that a video title would say "How to grow" and then not show or tell how to grow. Which are your favorite vegetables?
