It's really cool to see people growing their own food. It would be great if more people acquired this habit. In addition to improving our health by consuming healthier foods, we contribute to preserving our planet by reducing the use of pesticides. Congratulations on sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

NICE beans, Jill! You got me wondering, so I checked our local price for heirloom tomatoes. Huh, I picked ( conservatively) $60.00 of tomatoes, in the last couple of days. That is a real eye opener! 😲😄this doesn't include what I have already picked and processed, and what we have been eating. It does cost up front, but, if we kept close records ( which I haven't) we all might be surprised at how fast the garden will pay for itself. Short term and long term. Now, where can I go plant more stuff? 😁

We are blessed to have one field that is thriving and it will put us through winter. Thanking God for his blessing! I just wanted to let you know I think of you and count you as a blessing in my life! Seed saving is really important right now. Sweet corn seed is already sold out where I am.

A neighbor gifted me 5 chicks she incubator hatched from eggs I gave her ... surprise 😳 I scrambled to setup a brooder 🙃 her son just dropped them off in a box 😜
I've started picking my purple pole beans. They're suppose to be heat tolerant. I have them on cattle panels and trellises. In two other raised beds I've interplanted okra and purple hull peas. Makes for easy picking. Kale is going great. The chickens are loving it and the purslane I let grow in my raised beds. Saves on feed. Last week a friend let me use her freeze dryer, so 4 more pounds added to the 365 challenge 😋
Thanks Jill you give me ideas.

Off the wall question----Ember Days. Have you ever heard of Ember Days? Or has anyone else?
About 4 times a year they fall on Wed. Fri. and Saturday. It is a killing time according to folklore. It is even on the old feed store calendars. Want something dead...cut it during the Ember Days and it will die---not grow back. The dates for this one is March 31, June 2, 3. So I am out chopping several things that normally grow back. Gonna see what happens.
Just wondered if you or anyone else has ever heard of this. Would be interested in any feedback.
ALL your veggies look magnificent. You and Greg and Pops work like Trojans and it shows. Those are absolutely the most beautiful green beans!! Thanks for the tips on picking, looking low. I do remember as a little kid picking bush type peas and beans and crawling along the rows pushing a bucket in front of me while picking. Jesus bless.

Thanks so much for a great video! I have a question regarding bush vs. pole beans. I'm in Austin and have never had much luck with growing green beans. I have had huge success with tomatoes, canteloupe (muskmelon), peppers, okra, cucumbers, etc., but for some reason, my beans have never really produced well. I wonder if it is because I always grow POLE beans instead of BUSH beans. Since tomatoes are my favorite thing to grow and because I always grow indeterminate/vining varieties, I wonder if this has over-influenced my decision to always try pole beans? This year I have planted bush beans and they are doing great so far. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on growing pole vs. bush beans here in Texas. Again, thanks for such an informative video!
