    I haven't played clarinet since high-school. I used to be in wind ensemble, I was always between third and fourth chair, I wasn't the best there was, but I genuinely enjoyed being able to really play.
    Recently, I came across my clarinet and figured I'd pick it up again, so I picked up the book of 32 etudes, it's like I'm starting to learn from scratch all over again! The muscle memory is there in my hands, but I couldn't sight read anymore. I've been trying to play along to the video, while I will probably never be as good as I was in high-school again, not without all the extra hours to practice, you've given me something that I can genuinely enjoy doing, and I can't express how much that means.

    This is our Honor Band music this year, REALLY helps that I can listen cause I suck at sight reading and it sounds so beautiful, but not with me cause I'm playing it on Bass Clarinet XD but yeah still really pretty nonetheless :)

    By any measure (no pun intended), wonderful playing. Thanks for elevating the bar-again with the unintended pun- where it should be. I’ve been toying this piece but it’s time to get serious. Even jazz clarinetists such as Ken Peplowski say they still do the Rose Etudes. If that doesn’t inspire a person, time to sell the horn.

    At 1:14 , measure 22, can anyone explain that trill fingering to me? It's a D# - E trill, but he isn't using the D#/Eb key. Looks to me like in the vid he's fingering a D natural. Is there something I'm missing here?

    • @goalexey
      @goalexey  2 года назад +1

      I am holding the doubled D# key with the left hand's pinky. Most clarinets these days have this key, but some older models like Buffet R13 don't.

      @rrainey758 2 года назад +1

      @@goalexey Thank you so much for responding! That makes a lot of sense, I was thinking there must be a left pinky D# key but didn't know anything about it. Thanks again, I appreciate it!

    • @rrainey758
      @rrainey758 2 года назад +1

      tighten your corners? or maybe you have too much mouthpiece in your mouth. you should make sure your embouchure is the same no matter what register you're playing in. hope that's helpful!
