Mistakes are amplified on defense which makes it much more difficult. Gotta try to stay in a good mindset as well, at least thats what ive been trying.

4:09 sequence was your fault you waited until winger was covered to pass. Pass it earlier and he’ll have time to make a play. It creates a breakaway opportunity but Nice comeback. 4:34 you could’ve stopped him you had poked or light push open but you flee past they set up and score. I think your build lacks defensive abilities.. no need for 94 speed if your positioning is good and dont get caught. Not saying go big but you’d be good at 91 speed and more size so you dont relly on only poke checks. Great vids!

First sequence, I'm looking for RW to cut in away from the defender. He stayed outside and the defenseman followed him and disrupted the play. Could have passes early since it was a 3 on 3, but the RW can't continue in the play if pass is made early. He would have to either stop and pass or dump it in which isn't always ideal in this video game. By me holding the puck, it allows the puck to stay protected and all forwards a chance to find a lane for me to pass. By passing early, more passes are then required to gain entry into the zone which requires more spot on timing and movement to successfully gain entry.
Second sequence, one on one which I overplayed. He stops and cuts in which I need to do as well to get a nudge or poke. Doesn't matter either way because it's still a defensive play because he's forced to stop and not take it to the net. The backcheck was there and a new sequence starts as the team is back in the play as support. Cycling happened as the team didn't lock onto a man which resulted in a shot that eventually goes off one of us and in. Defense for this build is fine as shoves in this game are easy to pull off and pokes as well. Positioning is more important than attributes on defense. 94 speed is needed to stay with other 94 speed wingers for closer gaps and less space. Defense in this game is nerfed compared to offensive potential which recommends this type of defense.

It's true you made it simpler for the RW.
It depends on who you play with, my wingers would rather have the burden choice (dump, stall, or pass) than to be spoonfed. Thats why I saw it this way. Your point is valid on less things could go wrong with the tight pass. 2nd sequence I also understand the defensive play. At some point you have to make a play imo. Thats what I mean by lack of def abilities. You skate well and stay in position but the build looks unitimidating. It looks easy to attack, too passive. weak stick weak body. I would of changed tape to tape for some grey truc or backskates to combine with the pokes. Anyways I just love debating and its easy for me to talk watching a video its different in the moment. @@HackAttack34

do you adjust your sliders/skating style for your D man? i heard this makes a difference.

It doesn't make a difference. It's only for show. Speed is no longer an issue for me.

My very first video, actually have to appreciate the coaching for people who might be considering playing the defensemen position. Is there a certain play style you would recommend as a defensemen? Do you necessarily need to be a puck mover?

Don't have to be puck moving defenseman. You can be any build in which you're able to defend. I've got build vids and more defensive tip vids on the channel that you can reference.

I wouldn't put ai on defense. I'd put them as wing and have them full forecheck. They can forecheck but not defend very well
