My brother was a 2000ad artist & did some artwork for Judge Dredd, most of the work he did was Sinister Dexter & Slaine.. I have all the original artwork as he passed.
Hi Jess, being from the U.K., I’ve been reading dredd since 1990. I have every issue of 2000ad. I love all this stuff 😊 I liked all of your choices. Great video Jess 😊
The Apocalypse War HC in color by IDW isn't that easy to find these days, but it was just rerelased in softcover by 2000AD under their Essential Judge Dredd line (the other two volumes so far, no surprise, are America and Origins).
Love dredd. I have all of these except the apocalypses war HC (have the case files) and I have the orgins essential edition on pre-order. I have all most all the cases files. I have only read the first 2 so far and it's a lot of fun. It can be silly sometime and serious at others. There is a huge variety in the type of stories told in the Dredd universe. Thanks great vid Jess.
I really enjoyed your video man, I'm in Hospital presently, after having had a cardiac arrest, great to see an American fan of 2000AD. I started reading the weekly comic as a kid in the mid 70's... and I'm reading The Judge Child Quest in the UK Titan Books edition currently. I'll check out Part 2 now 🙂.
I enjoyed this helpful guide to Dredd, great choices, the only one I've not read yet is the Dark Justice book. Lovely hardcover editions youve got, never seen that version of Apocalypse War, beaufully coloured. Have you read Young Death: Boyhood of a Superfiend? its so funny and so wrong. Did you post part two and three? I cant find those videos.
I'm glad you found it helpful! I haven't made parts 2 and 3 yet. My life has gotten in the way of my making videos lol! I will get to it soon! And I really want to read Boyhood of a Superfiend hahaha!! It sounds perfect
Have you read the Judge Death: The Life and Death of... or Hondo City Law yet? Those are the other two that I still haven’t got around to that I’m still the most curious about. Additionally, I can vouch that Mega City Two: City of Courts is also well worth your time.
Thank you Jess! Very good overview and how to start reading Dredd. I am collecting the Mega Collection of JD. I read Amerika and now I will follow your guide. Looking for part 2,3,4,5 😉 of you videos
I haven't read them but I'm familiar with them! I think they look like a fun bunch of books if you're not trying to follow any timeline. I have another video coming up that's part 2 of this readathon on what to read next
The Cursed Earth is in Case Files 2 but its the censored version (four missing chapters). America isn't included in any of the Case Files, nor are any of the Dredd/Batman Crossovers. Origins hasn't appeared in a Case Files yet, but it will do.
Basically the censored version wasn’t allowed to reprint the copyright chapters it wasn’t until parody law in the uk changed, that the uncensored version was printed.
Has anyone told you about Adi Shankar's Superfiend, it's a few years old so it may be forgotten at this point? It's a animation of Judge Death inspired by MTV LIquid TV, definitely worth checking out. ruclips.net/video/usKo1IaTHjA/видео.html

Thanks Jess for doing the legwork! It’s been a daunting task to figure out how to start.
Thanks! I hope it helps everyone!
This is the one I've been looking forward to!!
Awesome!! Thanks for all your support!
The tour of duty storyline is epic
It really is!
You did it! Well done OmniDog!
Thank you Reap!
Great 👍 review!!! I love that judge dredd actually ages with us. The man is nearly 80s and still kicking ass! That's awesome!
Thank you and yeah!! I totally agree!

Thank you so much Glen! I've been hoping serious Dredders would approve of this!!
thanks for the video. been trying to find part 2 but i don't seem to be able to find it
I haven't made it yet, apologies! I got really sick after I made this and I'll try to make it soon!
As a huge Dredd fan. This is a very good list for people tipping their toes into the Dredd-Verse. Awesome video as always.
Ohhh thank you so much!! I was concerned/worried/hopeful about what Dredd fans would think of this!!
I ordered Apocalypse War today. IDW's doing a website liquidation sale and it was $7.99!
That’s awesome!!! LMK what you think about it!
Thank you so much! Definitely great way to get started.
Thanks for watching! So glad I could help!
Nice book collection I want to get in to Judge Dredd
I'll be doing part 2 soon! Glad you enjoyed this!

I'm due out reasonably soon, and thanks 😊

Curious to know 🤔 whatta you think on the Stallone urban 🤔 movie? Sooooo funny. You read dredd batman same as me introducing him lol 😆😂

🤣 lmao judge Bragg that's funny 😁 great 👍 name lol
haha thank you!!
This is amazing thanks Jess!
Did you read the IDW version of Judge dredd? I’m debating picking up those series.
I haven't read them but I'm familiar with them! I think they look like a fun bunch of books if you're not trying to follow any timeline. I have another video coming up that's part 2 of this readathon on what to read next
Ghost rider vs judge death. Thoughts?
Will some of these books reprinted (the ones that are OOP)?
Thanks Jess
I think so, Case Files 5 was OOP for a while but came back. These are all classic stories so I feel confident they’ll be reprinted
Womderful
thank you!!
Omnidog have you read slaine by pat mills
I own it but haven’t read it yet
tire guy is michelinie
I want to sell my box of judge dredd comics... But have no idea what there woth... If they are worth anything???
I’m a dredd head but I couldn’t care less about Judge Death. The supernatural just doesn’t belong in this universe imo.
Yeah, he got added in when they were less serious about it, I wonder if they regret it now.
Are any of those books from 2-5 you mentioned already included in any of the other case file volumes?
