Lord forgive me if I am wrong. I believe that he lost communications with the person who was sending information to his ear. He was singling to that person that he couldn't hear them. Notice how he paused while waiting to regain the signal? He pointed to his ear as to say I can't hear you. Shame, shame, shame. Peter Popoff, got caught doing the same thing. His wife was communicating to him via an inserted earpiece.
