    hi ive got this satnav when i start driving the screen starts up all bright and perfect then after about 5 mins the screen goes dark and can hardly see the screen, how do i keep it bright the whole time? , also was to dark to see my reverse camera that i have connected to it

      Thank you for your comment. I do not have it with me right now, but I suppose you have to unselect adaptive brightness in settings. If you cannot find in settings something similar to "adoptive brightness" then I suggest you to visit the store where you bought it. But I suppose it is something you can fix in settings.

      Thank you for your comment. This Sat navigation can be charged by USB, so I don't see any problem for it to be charged by powerbank (it can be charged by PC by USB that is enclosed, one side is classic USB 3.1). The main diference between Garmin Drivesmart 61 lmt-s and 65 is that Garmin drivesmart 65 has 3d buildings and is costier 20 US dollars on Garmin website. Currently, price of Garmin Drivesmart 61 lmt-s is reduced by 100 US dollars. That is really good price. If you have any other question or comment please post it. Thank you for your comment. It can be updated through wifi or directly by connecting to PC. I done that as that way is most reliable for the first time for every tech. • @ProfessorXplain
      @ProfessorXplain  3 года назад

      Unfortunatelly you have, because Garmin sat nav do not recognize live traffic. So, for up to date information that changes at least in one hour, you need to use your phone.

      @@ProfessorXplain thats interesting, im wondering how do stand alone navigations do traffic then? Like, my old Magellan Smart GPS, that i am currently using up to today since the year 2013 has traffic information without connecting to my phone or anything else. I mean, it was pretty shitty overall but im just wondering how that works and why Garmin is requiring a phone for traffic. Why can't they do it without it?

    • @ProfessorXplain

      Because that is information from internet. What you havd is approcimation based on previous historic data. I had that goo on my previous Garmin. @@ProfessorXplain Maybe you can he of help here with your knowledge. I have not had much luck on the phone with Garmin and have not recieved a reply through Facebook. This is my first GPS in 12 years. They have come a fair bit better in that time. The one I had before the voice activation only understood the word home. I watched a video last night and the driver was using voice activation for everything and it appeared to work. Even finding a parking space. So here's my question. After getting everything uploaded and downloaded I was under the impression that the WIFI would automatically do updates. I used Garmin Express not being sure exactly what it was. I have the app in my computer here and was told I will get notified when map updates are due, or I can check myself. So by using it this way, is it activated as well through WIFI or not? I did see in the settings on the unit where you could connect it to WIFI but did not see my user name in there just other people in the building. I am fine with having to do an update with this one that same way I did one with the other unit that was long past its expiry date. Shutting off not turning on, etc. I have the idea that you either use one of the other? If you use the WIFI then you will not get notifications for map updates as they are done automatically through the WIFI? My is not for the smart phone as I don't have one. The sales rep made it sound like I could get the signal and satellite as well from my home modem and not have to take it out to the SUV and plug it in to enter address's etc. Right now I have to do this to enter or delete anything. It will only work like this and not in the house where it appears to have limitations. This one is just like my older one and I assume the WIFI is something new? I hope you can be of help? Thanks.

    • @ProfessorXplain
      @ProfessorXplain  2 года назад +1

      As you can see from the video, I use the "old fashioned" way of updating it. I do not use wifi on the garmin, so I cannot tell you about wifi issues. Generaly, the update does not come too often, approximatelly one in a year. There may be some other updatates, but you are perfectly sure for some time. Only what you need really is connection between your phone and navi if you want to get live updates on traffic jams, but updates you don't need to bother. Hopefully this helps a bit

    I have purchased one of these navigators in Australia. I think it is brilliant excepting even when volume is on full it is not very loud. I have owned three garmins prior to this one and found this navigators sound is at least 30-40 softer. The other three I owned were to loud on full volume. This one is to soft, if there is traffic noise you really have to concentrate to heat the directions. I have discussed this with Garmin in Australia and they say nothing wrong. I am not deaf. They finally exchanged mine but the problems still exists. I have tried to use all types of bluetooth speakers but the Garmin wont recognize them. So sound cant be amplified. Any ideas. Cheers Bob

      @@ProfessorXplain Hello, I'm from Brazil, I used a garmin nuvi 50 in the car, I went to use it on the motorcycle's handlebars on a trip of 800 km, and the garmin stopped charging, searching the internet I saw that the sun warmed the gps and it stopped charging, with he turned it off, the garmin zumo is for a motorcycle, but very expensive, a hug.

      @@ProfessorXplain My garmin nivi 50 broke down, so I wanted to buy a motorcycle gps, and I'm in doubt if the garmin drivesmart can be used on the motorcycle, I know that it is not water resistant

      @@rodfeu As I know, it is not water resistant. Also, I found strange warning that it should be kept out of direct sunlight. I was shocked as even in car everybody use it close to front window and as I am from South Europe, there i a plenty of direct sunlight. But, I still did't have problems with it. But I understand, holding it in the open sun can be a problem. But I don't have any experiences with that.

      Buona serata. Grazie per il tuo commento. Nessun problema. Per quanto ne so c'è solo un suono per avvisarti delle telecamere sulla strada. Se il suono è così brutto, forse puoi abbassare il volume del suono. D'altro canto, il suono è molto utile in luoghi pieni di telecamere, come la Svizzera o le città austriache.

      Thanks for your comment. I do not test battery life for GPS navigations as they are great battery drainer in use so I use them connecting to the charger. On the basis of experience, maybe a few hours in use in the car.

    After reading numerous reviews " Garmin Express " is quite poorly rated if connected to your Mac. I just purchased Garmin Drivesmart 65 for my 2021 Camaro as the vehicle didn't have sat. nav. I'm not the best by any stretch when it comes to technology ,, all I want is navigational direction from point A to point B. ,,,, that's it .

      Thanks for comment. World has not moved anywhere. 😀 USB connectors are still in use, they are standard. USB Type C is gaining popularity, but USB is still on use everywhere (computers, cameras, drones,...).
