Hedwig of course is now in Jersey down the tunnel in the museum. We have 2 Stugs that we keep for our re-enactment group Sturmpanzer. Big H has also built one Stug for another group and is at present building his 5th which is going to a collector in the USA. He is also constructing 2 PzIIIs for export to Australia. The latest replicas unlike Helga are rear engined, left hand drive, and have full crew compartments they are truely fantastic. Please feel free to put them on your site.
As Hedwig is built on an FV432 donor chassis, which is slightly smaller than a PZ3, we have to adjust all the measurements to take this into account. We are very lucky that Big H trained as an architect and scaled everything down to fit. I think that overall she is about 7% smaller which is not really a problem
Oh I forgot to reply re cost which depends on the specs the customer wants and the cost of the donor 432. The new spec ones cost £40k+ due to the huge amount of work involved but they are fantastic value for money and huge fun. If you are happy to have one similar to Hedwig H may be persuaded to sell Heidi his first stug for a knocked down price to make rom in the yard. she is a great piece of kit which has been ysed by us for the last 3 years with no problems.
Is it cost too much to make new sprocket, load wheel and track? Though the upper part is very realistic, the driving system disclose that it is a replica.
I was rather busy trying to miss the odd bus to do some video, I have got the Channel Islands news report on video but I think I would get into trouble if i put it on RUclips
Actually the credit should go to Big H marillier without whom the project could not have been done as he project managed the build and was responsible for working out all the dimensions and most of the fabricating.
No beers I am afraid just dog tired and forgetting that the video program does not catch my bad typing as it does not have spell check. We are based on the kent/ Sussex border and if you can weld or are good at mechanics and work for nothing you are welcome to come and help. Hedwig is now in primer and looks like she could be used by the Royal Mail
Nice work John
