Well done, Johan! And thank you for us using your platform to be yourself and not being afraid to share your faith. Too many people feel that they either can’t share their beliefs or that that’s all they should talk about. Thank you for just being you and being real about your beliefs!

I’ve gone on two trans-atlantic vacations. I learned on the first trip that I can’t read very much on a plane. Last month I packed two books when I flew to Ireland and Scotland. I only finished one of them. I’ve more than made up for it in August!

Thanks for sharing your faith. You give this old man hope!

Great video Johan! We are planning a trip next year to Iceland and Scotland (too bad we didn't go this year we could have planned it around WorldCon)...but we want to include a side trip over to the Faroe Islands. The landscapes look breathtaking. 🤘🏼

That would be an awesome place to visit! So glad you got to do this trip, even if your challenge wasn't ultimately successful. However, it seems that doesn't matter, as the experience was well worth it. Appreciate you sharing, and I can empathize with your thoughts on meaning. It's a journey we all must walk in life. My faith hasn't always been great, but it has been a grounding force in my life. And I recently started writing, which I knew for years was one thing that I needed to do in life. Thanks for being an inspiration to so many of us!

    Hello 👋🏻
Wonderful vlog and what a beautiful land you come from! And when are we getting a puffin dedicated vlog entry?
I’m glad you are enjoying Jurassic Park. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought it was going to more “pulpy” than it was. The science was quite good and the tension building was brilliant! A book of Chrichton’s you may enjoy is Eaters of the Dead (the film was called the 13th warrior). The book is based on the writings of Arab Explorer Ibn Fadlan who wrote one of the only surviving first hand account of a Viking funeral. When I say the book is based on his account I mean the first half of Eaters of the Dead is literally Fadlan’s writing copy and pasted so you are getting essentially two books in one. Following the Viking funeral, the book continues Fadlan’s adventures with potentially supernatural events. The Viking funeral contains some quite….graphic descriptions. It’s not pretty. But if you are interested in Viking culture this is our only firsthand account of the ship burning ceremony so it might be worth your time.
    Happy Reading! 📖

Audiobooks would have made your life easier here! Ive finished many series in less days than the number of books. (including WoT and cradle). To be fair its only something you can do when you have no responsibilities.

For amazing nature, check out The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring by Richard Preston. It's a nonfiction adventure story about a group of botanists and naturalists and climbers exploring the redwoods of California and their canopy. It was very hard to put down.

Michael Crichton is so much fun. He might not be a literary genius, but he knew how to tell a story in an entertaining way.
I couldn't get into Cradle too - finished book 1 and that was it. Felt a little hollow/empty/uninspiring, but magic system was definitely interesting

Ooh, Crichton is one of my favorite authors. He is very sciencey but explains in a layman’s way that you understand, and make you totally believe we could bring back dinosaurs, or travel back in time. Timeline is another one of my favorites.

Enjoyed the balance of 'book info', visual of Faroe Islands. I really enjoyed both. Great that you put family time over reading books just to accomplish your challenge. Family is important. As others have said, good job sharing your faith in simple, authentic way.
By listening to you, I have heard about Faroe islands. Your few video clips of the Faroe Islands really makes me want to go visit someday. Maybe in couple years in the future. Any good time to go visit the Faroe Islands?

It has been 14 years and 6 weeks since i have been on the Faroe Islands with a field course from RUC. I still to this day want to go back, just so I can drink the water that does not taste of kalk! I actually drank so much of it the first two days, I made myself sick. I come from an area in the states that has volcanic water filtration, so it was like being at home before they added things to the municipal water for ‘safety’ purposes, We stayed in the vandrehjem on the hill outside of Trondheim and se Werge there the same time as the Queen. Which is the closest I have ever been to her, and I live 1.1 km from the summer palace.
Yeah it rained the whole time we were there. I always wanted to go back to study where the stream appeared when it has rained too much on the islands.
I tried reading your second book, but I put it away because of the ending that happens at the beginning. Though, if I knew about this challenge when I was there, I read like 2 books and I was on 3 of the islands. Would have visited more, but that water illness, I missed an excursion. One of theme books was Dracula.

Ok so I don’t know if you take recommendations but here it goes
If you haven’t already been recommended it I highly recommend reading the Japanese light novel series
Ascendance of a Bookworm by Miya Kazuki translated by Quof and published by J-novel club
In my humble opinion it’s world building it up there with Tolkien potentially
It is my favorite Fantasy book series so it’d be nice to add to the amount of people reading it
It’s also the first book series I’ve come across where it is divided into parts almost like Seasons for a tv series
Also be aware these light novels tend to be around 300ish pages at most
Outside of the 33 books there are several books that have collected short story chapters that come from many other characters points of view besides the main character
Anyways here’s hoping you see this comment have a great day
Part 1 (Daughter of a soldier )covers books 1-3
    Part 2 is books 4-7
    Part 3 is books 8-12
    Part 4 is books 13-21
    Part 5 is books 22-33

Awesome show case of the spectacular Faroe Island and the good nature of its people! 🤩
Really looking forward to get to “We Are The Dead”, maybe even this fall! “Jurassic Park” is a classic & “Into the Wild” seems like a perfect choice to read in the outdoors!
Happy Olavsøka/Olsok (as it is know here in Norway), actual got the great privilege to meet Philip Chase Olsok-weekend, during his holiday to Scandinavia: Most generous in person!
As for myself I will be finishing “Memory, Sorrow & Thorn” by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy), “The Expanse” by James S.A. Corey (Space Opera) & the “Prince of Nothing” Trilogy by R. Scott Bakker (Epic Dark/Grimdark Fantasy)!
    Helsing frå Noreg!

"The Girl Who Died". The Doctor and his sidekick get kidnapped by Vikings. He puts on his sonic sunglasses and tells them they make him more powerful than any Viking. The Viking chief grabs the glasses and stamps on them. "It looks like we're going with them" he says to the girl. 😀
