I like the japanese way of doing it. 40 bucks, garanteed Super Rare, garanteed 3 illustration rares, some other random exs and potential for a second Super Rare. Open one or two boxes looking for the chase card, buy everything else as singles, that's very much fine for me :V
And weighing packs, and easily swapping packs in “sealed” boxes, and having to wait in line for hours and hours to get it at retail on release, and more market manipulation than the EN card market?
My thoughts are they are definitely using the regular IRs as a SIR hit. I completely agree with your thoughts....there is a fine line between too easy and too difficult on pull rates. My favorite set to open right now is crown zenith, you get hits you don't get owned on value and it's fun. If pull rates are way too easy, there is no point in opening the set to most collectors cause your just burning money even if you hit the best card in the set. If pull rates are too difficult, there is no point in opening the set to most collectors cause your just burning money cause your odds are so low to pull any value it's like that dude who bought a case of evolving skies for 4k and pulled $80 in cards. How to lose money the fastest way possible, buy and open a bunch of these sets that have dumb low pull rates.
As a new collector, I'm not sure I'll go for this set (those pull rates!) but the cards are beautiful indeed. Love the Ursaluna you got - and I'll be definitely getting the Eevee art rare single. Also, from the same new collector's POV: I'm all pro better pull rates. My monthly card budget is strictly limited and I can't see myself buying, for example, 2-3 booster boxes at once. I'm here for the beauty of the cards and the thrill of a chase, and not getting anything out of 4-5-6 packs is really disconcerting. And just imagine all the kids out there who dream of having a Moonbreon and know they won't be getting it with that hefty $1000 price tag for a single. I think the hobby itself shouldn't be about the few people who can buy 10-20 booster boxes at once and get all the rares, grade them at PSA, and sell for hundreds and thousands of bucks but about the kids who can buy 2-3 packs a month hoping to get cool cards and make memories that will last a lifetime. But that's a very idealist view for our capitalistic world, and I know it.
hey Jake yesterday was my birthday and I opened some evolving skies and pulled the umbreon vmax and glaceon vmax ! in my first 7 packs! the most amazing birthday ever!
I just got into opening packs for the first time since being a kid. I got a booster box of TM for my first go of things and been slowing opening it, only done about five packs so far. Being new to reverse holos made it seem like there was hits every pack lol. Nothing crazy pulled yet. I also got a Japanese box of 151 and ive been enjoying that alot. Opening four packs of that and two so far had ARs. I agree with you on the pack experience. I would rather see more cool card than have a couple worth alot.
Scarlet and violet pull rates have completely turned me away from opening packs. Crown zenith was so fun I know most cards weren’t that expensive but I spent so much on packs because I felt like I was getting my moneys worth. I’ve opened a couple 6 pack boxes of scarlet and violet sets and gotten nothing but one or two ex cards. Just not fun or worth it at all to me.
Educate me, in CZ every pack had a rare card therefor those cards were never rare to begin with. Rare in the sense that they had an economic value. With twilight Masq you dont get alot of rare cards hench they have a bigger economic vallue right? So i felt like CZ never got my monneys worth. (im new to the hobby, so im just asking).
@@phoef123 if I opened 3 etbs for $45 each that’s roughly the same as a booster box. If I get a bunch of $10-20 cards in my etb vs. getting 2-3 $5 cards in a booster box it’s worth it or the chance of making some money is much lower. When CZ first came out several cards were easy pulls and $20+. In my eyes it’s better to have higher chances of getting the “chase card” than the value of the chase card.
Crown zeniths been the best set since x&y. They should go back to x&y pull rates, makes the hobby more about opening packs than making a profit since cards will be easy to pull
I agree with you, I really want better pull rates. I’m at the point of buying and ETB, keeping it sealed, buying 10 or a o packs to open and just buying the singles i really want. I hope the next set has better pull rates, I want the fun back. I’m not really having much fun opening packs anymore. I loved evolving skies. I pulled both ray’s the beautiful flying sleeping dragonite and several other desirable cards. For some reason that set was my fav and had better pulls. I may just be lucky. 😅 I enjoy your videos.
I wasnt sure about this set but in the end some cards were interesting so i bought two booster boxes. I endet up pulling 2 SIR from two boxes. One of the masks and Carmine. Also pulled two gold cards and 6 SIR in these boxes. Could believe it because i heard and saw that the pull rates are really bad in the last two sets. Maybe i was really lucky. The set in general is okay. I liked Temporal Forces more tbh.
I bought 2 loose packs of TWM on release day from my local newsagents on release day. First pack I pulled the SIR Greninja EX! Not kidding. I've been back in the hobby for 4 years and never had such a first pack magic like that before. It's a little bit OC so probs a PSA 9 if graded, but for now it's sleeved and in the binder. A beautiful card!
I opened 5 of these packs just a few days ago and these were my first pokemon cards packs ever opened. I liked what I got and was looking to get more, I did get the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex gold. I was looking to get some lost origins, some more twilight masquerade, or evolving skies. However based on what you said, I think im going to stay away from Evolving skies and get some lost origins and twilight masquerade instead.
We loved watching you open those packs! Emily and I enjoy opening Pokémon card packs ourselves and watching others do the same. It's always thrilling to see a chase card pulled. We also appreciated your "how to get started collecting Pokémon cards" video from before. Keep up the excellent work-we really love your content!
Hi Jake, great video and nice pulls. I haven't really jumped on the wagon to buy the Twilight Masquerade set, I just recently started to collect pokemon cards at the beginning of the year with Palden Fates. I really like that set because it was my reintroduction into the pokemon cards. I was able to get the SIR Mew!
I tend to agree with you. 🙂👍 I enjoy having fun when opening packs. Tough pull rates is not a fun experience for me. 🙂👍 Evolving Cries was a terrible experience….I couldn’t even pull regular V cards from the set. 😂😂 Even now…People are still torturing themselves by opening Evolving Skies….pulling nothing over and over again. 😮
Started collecting PSA 10 Japanese Pikachu promos cause of you! Even picked up some more exclusive promos when i was in Japan in January and just sent them off to PSA. Definitely one of my more favorite parts of my collection!
I am lucky to open a couple of packs a fortnight so rates like these are not fun, I mostly pick up through sales though so paldean fates it is atm, I'm not a fan of paying $7-8 per booster for the newest set when i can get them for $4 each in a bundle once a month down the track
My pull rates on these new sets have been horrible.. I usually just buy 2-6 packs here and there but going on streaks of no hits after 12 packs is disheartening. Previous sets at least had a v or illustration rare every now and then.
i got my TWM boxes a few days before official release. ripped 1 box and pulled the greninja and a few IRs. decided to take my win and walk. wont be ripping any more but ill sit on sealed and buy the cheaper IRs i like all day.
Man, I have been really lucky cuz I’m my first 3 pack blister I pulled the sir Greninja, and then in break I pulled the Carmine Sir, I just want the ir eevee to complete my top 3 pulls from the set
Hey Jake, I have pulled the alt art Greninja from my crimson haze booster box (super lucky I know!) I was wondering if it being Japanese would make it less valuable enough to not make it worth grading it, what do you think? Sorry if the question is dumb but i’m new to the game
I must be lucky because I’m missing carmine and the lower cost full art and illustrations. Just purchased the build and battle set. Wish me luck everyone
I think all of this just kind of suggests SV era cards will age well. I don’t obsess over value but I think people will remember it as a fantastic era for art
Bought my first ever box other week like this and pulled six of the chase cards, seems a lot? Super fun and glad to jump in. The cards need to stay rare, otherwise it's a commodity, not a collectible
Hello everyone in the comments! I've found myself hooked on Pokémon pack opening videos lately. Even watching other people open them I get the joy I used to get as a kid, looking at the art. I want to start myself, has anyone got any recommendations on where/how to start? UK based. Seems to be so many variants now!
Sv base is by far the greatest base set since base set. Artistically so far separated from any other previous base set in the best way. Everyone suffering from recency bias, wait until the gen 9 has passed and watch the praise come flooding in 😂
This is a terrible collection in my opinion, the cards feel made up to 151 adults like myself. I think alt art is the way to go, they are genuinely rare and enjoyable to look at. This new dimension is giving me a new collector on a limited budget something to enjoy. If your kids want these you just have to buy it I guess.
Its not. My opinion and fact. Also no mater what cards I pull out I'm a lot greatful and very happy. I guess I'm deferent than other humans in the world and I always choose being with humans than humans but which I Don't know why . 20:31

Pull rates have slammed me. Couple booster bundles. Single packs from separate boxes . All I have to show for it is 2 IR cards and 1 Ace spec

I can believe this set is gonna be selling well. This is the first set in SV that I really seem to like.

NICE! I pulled the gardie SIR from pal fates on my FOURTH. PACK.😎
Good video. Double the pull rate would wreck the value by more than half. Not saying it's not worth trade off, but the relationship isn't linear.
I like this set - it has chase cards that people like and are hard to pull, which reminds me of fusion strike

I opened two booster boxes and pulled Carmine and greninja sent to psa already 👍
I think it's a good set and of course it'll be pricy but like temporal forces it'll start to drop little by little over time
My thing is where do you look up the card values? Where do you even sell the cards!? I have cards from when I was a kid in the 90s.

Yeah that AI music was odd
Totally agree. SV base is still my favorite set.
I can not see why having a readily available set for retail prices (and below) have excitement and hype around chase cards as a bad thing?
I like it how some people don't like this set but this set a major game changer towards the card game. 🙂
most people do not care about the cardgame
Greninja Ex 198 was my pull from my very first pack of Twilight Masquerade like 2 weeks ago. Instantly was addicted to the set lol 😂

Just opened my booster box today and pulled a Carmine towards the end, after watching this video now i even feel more blessed lol
I bought the ETB and my first pack I pulled the eevee alt art. Completely made up for the price of the box.
i bought a box for 115 and packed the carmine and sold it for 125 since im not really into trainers

Pulled the eveee today. Im 37 and celebrated like a 10 year old🎉🎉🎉
I dig Twilight Masquerade. Best illustration rares of any SV set so far, imo
I think 3 or 4 IRs per box and 1 SIR per box is where things should be at.
I just got my first booster box of Twilight the other day and managed to get the Greninja SIR 🎉🎉🎉
I have had decent luck for most Scarlet Violet sets but this set has been hard on me. I've opened a fair amount and my hits are abysmal.
I opened 5 etbs a booster bundle, and had got almost 150 cards

4 booster boxes down and no carmine , bear , sushi or ninja frog . This has to be the worst pull rates
I got two twilight booster boxes for $146! It’s a good time to buy ❤
Where?
Greninja is really nice I would probably wait a month to buy Twilight
Eevee full art will drop big time. I pulled 2 and they're all over ebay. Sell that card now. They'll be worth less than $10 soon!
Bought my first ever box other week like this and pulled six of the chase cards, seems a lot? Super fun and glad to jump in.

No SIR in 4 booster boxes is insane

That's 27 boxes, not cases. But yes
I'm fully convinced 6 pack booster bundles are hand picked to be terrible pulls 😂
I’m completely new my friend gave me a single pack and I got the SIR greninja ex he was freaking out and I had no clue (im addicted)
This set is gonna have an insane price crash. Paying 175$ for a SV era card a week after release is so foolish…
So you can't afford it? 😂😂😂 the only thing foolish is believing your opinion matters.

hard pull rate bad, me want shiny cardboard
I’m shocked how high the greninja and carmine are.

Not the worst set ever, just below average. Not as good as Paldea Evolved, Paradox Rift or Paldean Fates.
