Why is the woman vexing and demanding? She is probably forgetful and nervous but she conducted herself well.

As a former debt collector...it's ALL in the attitude of the debtor! If they were rude and obnoxious, I had the option of suing them which gave my company a garnishment. If still no payment, then garnishing their wages or taking their car! I, personally didn't like doing that. But if they wouldn't work with me...I had no other options.
Well you decided to work for the scum of the earth so it shouldn't be surprising people were rude to you

Why do people not pay their rent? The other day, a couple told Judge Middleton (MI) that they “hadn’t paid their rent in March, April, and May because we need the money to use for moving on 6/1/24.” Still wondering where the logic is.😊
I saw that... And if I remember correctly, their lease was up so theease had gone to month-to-month and the landlords just wanted their dwelling back, and they think they can just stay and not pay for months. It drives me nuts, I do not get it!
No logic, entitlement and stupidity
What kills me is when the judge in eviction matters allows things to drag on in the squatter's favor, even when facts and the law are on the side of the landlord.
I love Judge Simpson, but he is way too soft on tenants most of the time.
@@Fyestyfem-dr3qh my feelings exactly. I get that people fall on hard times, but he doesn't seem to take into consideration that property owners depend on rental income to keep up said property, as well as pay their own bills!
Got to love Judge Simpson - humour and kindness to those who try to make amends.
Judge Simpson is the best; totally fair, great judge of character, personable, self-deprecating, with an encyclopedic understanding of the law that he seamlessly translates into ordinary people-speak.

My suggestion is always document everything from the beginning of your tenancy. Maintenance requests, payments, obtain monthly statements, keep your documents in order, proof of payments, and any communication. If they have a portal print or save all information in it regardless.
Very wise advice.
Don't forget "Pay the rent".

The people who don't understand how someone could fall so far behind are truly blessed to have never been in a situation where they broke a tooth at the same time all the car tires needed to be replaced. You can't get that $1300 out of nowhere.

The courts are to lenient on these people that refuse to pay rent.
They try to be lenient and understanding with those who are honestly trying and working on paying it off. As they should be.

I really enjoy watching Judge Simpson and his infectious smile/laugh, he does show compassion towards the tenants but what about the landlords, they still have bills to pay and a property to maintain, yet, they are the ones whom always seem to get shafted. Not all landlords can afford to continuously wait for rent, It should be equally fair!
Thank goodness the people in these comments are not the judge. He understands her situation. She's doing the best she can while the company is continuing to bombard her with late fees.

The renter who is applying to a job in Europe with 6 interviews!?😅 she is probably a scammer, and squatter. If on the slight chance she is not, she is being scammed. No job is what she describes. Meanwhile landlords don’t get paid.
I do understand her point about late fees - when you’re struggling to pay bills, making them more expensive & harder to pay makes no sense 🤷♀️

Whats ‘Monetary vs monetary money’? Maybe if this defendant had paid their rent, on time, she wouldn’t be in court right?

Well probably unlike youtube commenters, most judges understand that stuff happens. For a lot of people just getting a flat tire is enough to fall behind. If you make $1000 a month and your bills are $990 a month but oh no you need a tooth extracted and your insurance doesn't cover it well cool now you're $490 in debt and the interest they'll charge you on the debt will now take you 30 years to pay off unless you get a raise that's actually higher than the amount your rent is going to increase.
I mean it's super easy to fall behind if, say, your rent and all your bills and stuff are $1300 a month and your income is $1400 a month, and then all your monthly expenses increase to $1500 a month but your income only goes up to $1410.
We live in Michigan. It's that simple. It's hard here.

why does every one complain about late fees you didnt pay rent on time in the lease you have to pay late fees for being late.

I'm not sure why people think it's okay to stiff others, and don't comprehend that those people and businesses have bills, too.
She's been paying I believe to the best of her ability, but the greedy owner wants late fees. That's the crime.
@@xxzz9789 I'm sure the "greedy owner" has to pay late fees, too, if late paying on a mortgage and other bills. Late fees are awful but, without them, there would be no incentive for anyone to pay their rent on time.

I understand late fees. What I don't understand is these landlords charge outrageous late fees. Late fees on my mortgage is less than $40. I also get a 15 day grace period. Most of these landlords give 3 days and I'm not saying it should be longer but the fees are $100+. I've heard a couple of cases where the late fees were $300. That is ridiculous. I've heard some landlords charge a weekly late fee, which turned out to be unlawful. We all have unexpected hardships, but charging astronomical late fees is just wrong. Having to pay one late fee could set you back for months. Personally, I would never sign a lease with outrageous late fees.
@@charlenetutt9413 wow...that IS crazy. I haven't rented in 20+ years, and had no idea things have gotten so out of control. I'm with you - there's no way I'd sign anything agreeing with such outrageous late fees unless I had absolutely no other options!
If you don’t have enough money, get a job! If you already have a job get another job. It’s not the landlord’s problem to solve your lack of income.

I'm trying to help a Father and his non verbal autistic adult son but he is adamant that Government owes him $ to provide 24/7 supervision over his son. I told him that the system doesn't work that way. GUBBERment doesn't owe an ABEL WHITE MAN anything... his job is to work and provide for his family .... he has to hire someone to take care of his when he works ... but no... he's demanding his enTITlement$ under the ADA laws made by Government lol. I told him that you would get more with honey than vinegar but he won't listen... His mom is evicting him and his son as he interferes with her live in care providers so they'll quit... She voluntarily conserved herself to her 2 daughters, his sisters to hire an attorney to evict him and she had to get a Reverse Mortgage to pay her bills as he's lived with his mother his entire life RENT FREE and he's 55 ... lol. JFK told us "ask not what your Government can do for you ...." Ronald Reagan said " the 9 most horrifying words in the English language is ~ I'm from the Government and I'm here to help". lol. I told him this but he says, I don't understand the law ... lol. he's not a lawyer nor is he even a college grad. He wants what he wants and won't take no for an answer ... keep demanding Gov't give you back pay under the ADA laws and see how far that gets you... lol. you can't fight the law with the law .... you get what you qualify for and Abel white men don't qualify for squat.... Get a Job! He's got a General Contractor$ license and his son his his helper ... he works under the table ... his son gets SSI and Medicaid... that's all his son is entitled to... as Dad won't let his son go to school for intellectually disabled children as the facility isn't in his town... too bad... move ... he's has to move anyway but refuses to leave his mommy's house ... stupid is what stupid does ....
To be fair, it doesn’t matter if you’re an able white, black, Hispanic, Asian or Native American man or woman adult, the government doesn’t owe you because you have an autistic child. Your parents don’t owe you anything after you become an adult, either.

If you rent you have to pay your rent +bills ( water,electricity,gas council tax if you do in America and your food) it’s your responsibility, if you cant afford then get a shared accommodation , landlord will only take the rent .

I actually lost a lot of respect for Judge Simpson due to the landlord/tenant court. No wonder people are squatting for years. I didn’t get why judges let them off the hook. Never be a landlord.
Heres an idea PAY YOUR RENT and if you dont have enough money GET ANOTHER JOB
