      You should tell people about Parking on the road and Don't park next to the Fire Hydrant at the first house. (Ticket) NO PARKING except for Park Users. The trail is owned by the City, the Park is owned by the State. First house on the left as you go in CALLS THE COPS.

    This looks scary but so fun! I love hiking 🥾. I was in Hawaii last year m, but never new about this trail. When I go back I’m going to check it out😊!

      Aw thanks so much! It's definitely one of my favorite hikes! 😄I think having as much details about the hike as possible is super helpful for packing. I haven't tried the Galaxy Active or Garmin watches. I just checked out the Garmin & it looks pretty cool! As for watches⌚, the one in the video is actually a super basic $15 one (brand is "Armitron") that's waterproof from Target. The one in my videos I've had for a couple years & I take it everywhere - hiking, swimming, surfing, sailing, etc - and it's lasted!

    This hike looks amazing! One question though, did you back track on the way down? I have been watching other videos and some people walked down the stairs on the way down and I’m not sure if that’s okay or not. Thank you again for sharing the information and your adventure!

    • @YestoHawaii
      @YestoHawaii  3 года назад +1

      Thanks so much! The best way is to go the back way, get to the top for photos (and having a bite to eat! would definitely recommend packing a full lunch since it's a long hike), & then back track your way down 😄Early morning is the best time to go as soon as the sun comes up. Do /not/ go when it's dark. The back way is on a ridge and VERY SKETCHY without proper sunlight - I can't stress this enough. If you go super early, you won't have to rush on the way back and can take your time. On most out-and-back hikes, I like to time myself to see how long it takes me to get to the endpoint so I have a gauge on how long the hike back will take so I have plenty of sunlight left. ☀️⛰
      I've seen some other videos taking the front way up or down but I wouldn't recommend that at all. If you did take the stairs up or down (the front way), you'll be trespassing, it's sketchy and will have to go through neighbor's yards in the middle of the night. Because of that, there's been a lot more coverage on the news where police have been ticketing and arresting people. And it's totally understandable, there's a lot of elderly in that neighborhood - I'd be sketched out having random people trespassing my home too!

      Just a heads up, saw this in the news (Mar 25, 2021): www.khon2.com/local-news/honolulu-police-issued-93-citations-made-6-arrests-over-10-days-at-haiku-stairs/#:~:text=HONOLULU%20(KHON2)%20%E2%80%94%20The%20Honolulu,as%20the%20Stairway%20to%20Heaven.

    Hi , i want to do this hike and will be there at the end of October . Will there be more rain and will it make the hike unsafe .also i saw you climbing ropes , was that hard and dangerous ?

    • @YestoHawaii
      @YestoHawaii  3 года назад

      October is the beginning of our rainy season. If you opt to do this hike, make sure you check the weather for the previous 3 days. If it is sunny the DAY OF the hike - but it's been raining for a few days before, the trail will most likely be very slippery & muddy. The climbing ropes was tricky for sure! ☀️

    • @MsStrawberry44
      @MsStrawberry44 3 года назад +1

      There is no legal way to hike these stairs. Stepping foot anywhere on these stairs is trespassing. You can easily google that as well aslook this up on the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Instagram and their Facebook. Also, videos like this are being reported to the Honolulu Police Department as well as the Honolulu Fire Department and the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR). Just a few months ago the police department conducted a 10 day operation focused on illegal hikers on the stairs and issued 93 citations for trespassing on state property and made 6 arrests. There’s always been security at the bottom, and there’s an officer sporadically posted up top. If caught the fine is very hefty, court appearance is mandatory and you may possibly face jail time.

      Unfortunately, there's been people waiting at the top handing out tickets the past few months. Since tourism has been slowly reopening, it's been like that since March of this year. I'm not sure what days this happens but a friend of a friend of mine received a ticket and the ticket was a lot 💸.

Theres a bunch of other ones. 3 Peaks is a great one if you'd like an advanced hike. If you're thinking low-key, Aiea Loop is a nice semi-flat trail with nice views. If you'd like a short but hard hike, I'd say Koko Head Crater. It's about 30-60 min to the top & it's 100% incline all the way up. GORGEOUS views though!

      Kuliouou Ridge Trail (Only go in 15 MPH winds or less) Dust kicks up in your face. (I don't care for views. Did this with my nephew) I like to go off trail and look for illegal animals. At minimum, bring a knife and flashlight/phone. I've seen a lot of scary shit in Moanalua Valley. But don't go in scared, so far I seen it off trail.
