It's a grade 3 handicap with small fences.Red rum resurrected the dying national in the 70's.Its not dying now,it's dead.Saw my first in 67.A normal chase course is harder than this
Not one fell. Four unseated. It's effectively a 4m 2f hurdle.
Jockey club will investigate the URs to prevent in future. Gorilla Glue is one suggestion
Grand national finished 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Gay Trip Aldaniti and Hallo Dandy fell at the first fence along with Corach Rambler after winning
0:29
Maybe I Am Maximus next year?
Add to that Ayala, who fell at the first in the 1964 race.
This race should be renamed the Randox Long Distance Chase. Technically, its a fixed brush hurdle race.
Its a fraud
QUESTION if the fences the same size as they was in the 80s how many would have go round?
21 horses finishing on 'soft' ground, tells a story. Two away from the record of 23 from 40 starters on 'good' ground.Figures are fact not fiction.
Completely different. They rebuilt them with plastic. They are not dressed densely. They are much lower and softer hidden by a spruce layer. Heights reduced. Distance cut.
@@teenoso4069 Originally the core were wooden stakes in the ground (with tightly packing of the spruce),then replaced with a consistent solid core wooden structure and now what you have just mentioned,
The worlds longest hurdle race.
The reason why people people loved the GN was the thrills and spills of the race now gone forever, people will gradually lose interest in it.
No, those who know anything about horses and riding like to watch great jumping, great riding and enjoyment from the horses. NOT A CALVARY CHARGE. Ask the Jockeys if it was like a hurdle race, I'm sure they would disagree.
They took the Grand out of The National, just another handicap
🥱
Indeed.
It is still the Grand National, no other track has fences like it and surely the changes have made it better for the horses. Proof that so many got round and watching again, the only horse to 'hit the deck' was Corach Rambler, who without a rider, fell at second fence and then pulled himself up, hopefully ok. I personally do not want to see horses have bad falls and having so many finish and still racing at the end was a great spectical. WELL DONE AINTREE.
All that was missing is faded music in the background,New Seekers "Look what they've done to my song'
"Look what they done to my song, ma
Look what they done to my song, ma
Well, they tied it up in a plastic bag
Turned it upside down, ma
Look what they done to my song"
it's my birthday. 'can't afford to go anywhere so this was to be the highlight of my day. i could cry - i might do yet.

I doubt there will be another fairytale or big price winner of the national soon, class horses will now take advantage of the smaller fences as we saw with the finishing order of todays races.
Seems everybody is knocking the Grand National this year because it’s easy, I suppose previously it was a survival contest but now it’s actually a race. It’s safer all horses survived. I think it’s better.
A very sensible comment
@@robertlagan8441 I agree, there are some ignorant people out there. Still a great race.
its not better at all, its like Gladiators in the Colosseum using plastic swords, its an embarrassment
Never thought of the aspect of it being a survival contest, I suppose it's an accurate description.😮
@@theLowestPointInMyLifeDon't watch it if you don't like it now.
Farce of a race compared to what it used to be, I feel little to nothing watching the race now. The uncertainty has gone, the thrill has all but evaporated, Mick Fitz said it "Was better that *ex" one could argue that it's now "Better than drinking flat coke"
Brush hurdle by brush hurdle analysis....FIFY.
So, everyone would agree that today horses are trained far better, are far fitter, have specialist jump trainers in re just the jumping aspect, as a whole the jockeys are far better, would immediately look after the horse ie PU if they thought it wasnt quite right/not enjoying it......yet the race is made far far far easier to not be a challenge anymore and actually looks like the CGI virtual National they used to do.
Also it seems 25 jocks get the same instruction...stay in touch keep a hold, dont dream of taking any initiative and have the field on the stretch.....and we will take our chances in a 6 furlong 2 fence sprint from the Melling Road and because the course is so easy now even the 100/1 shots can do that.
You might as well do a furlong by furlong look back at the Ceasarewitch......
It just seems now it’s a 3 mile plus hack round…
Not for me anymore
I didn’t bet this year and don’t think I’ll return.
Me neither, its the second year I didn't have a bet.In fact I did not even watch it live.
The race should be renamed its not the Grand National that RED RUM won 3 times. Its a shorter race and the fences are smaller so call it something else
presenter can hardly look the camera in the eye!
One thing that we have learned, only class horses will win the Grand National from now on, forget the outsiders
Forget jump racing
That’s for bookies 😀
Keenland tonight
Frankie wins big race on a 25/1 outsider
Trained by Chad Brown who had 4 in the race.
The race looked crooked 😀
The national is finished!
Grand National in name only. Lets not pretend otherwise. Even that name should be retired so the achievements of Red Rum et al are not brought into disrepute
The fences are to easy
I suggest you try riding it. Perhaps they were too hard before and caused unnecessary harm
Stand next to them and you'll change your opinion.
@@user-op6ej4rf2r Happily ride these and the previous. Its gone too far and the whole ethos of jumping with it
I'll take the fewer thrills and spills for fewer dead horses a the end of the day. Sometimes it's not about us.
Well said, totally agree
the canal turn is a fking hurdle now, what a complete joke
It would be more respectful to retire the grand national instead of pretending that this is the same race
Its not even the best national now, nowhere near as good as the Welsh national
It was such a boring race. If this is the state of things to come from now on people will rapidly lose interest.
BLOODSPORT
You seem disturbed
