    Thank you so much for the detailed techniques. I finally confident enough to make my first plate. Not only I love the end result but also all the fine shaving that resulted by using the bowl gouge.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I'm new to this (six months) and love the way your thoroughly explain not only the "How to" but the "Why" for doing it a certain way.

    When sanding, was the lathe going forward or reverse? Just curious so I know when drill should be in forward or reverse. Thanks!

    When Kirk says he is using a 3/8" bowl gouge, is that the actual steel size or the size of the flute. Generally the Brits call a 3/8" bowl gouge is the same as what US calls a 1/2". I'm just trying to get that clear. Thanks

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  3 года назад +2

      He's using tools manufactured in England, so the 3/8" gouge has a 1/2" bar - the 3/8" is a measure of the flute.

    I bought a sander a lot like that... mine was red though. It turned into a flame throw. I guess it sucked up all the dust and after a few weeks any time I pulled the trigger it would shoot flames out the lower ports.

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  2 года назад

      Well that sounds... exciting! With flames like that - it might be time for a new unit. If you get one, it does help to blow out the motor after each use.

    I have been looking for a right angle drill like you are using to sand with. Could you share the make? Thanks for the info and the tips.

    Kirk, Thanks for the lesson. One thing I missed is what wax were you using to reduce sanding dust and then as a final finish? Stay safe and well to keep the videos coming. Cheers, Tom
