  • With the end of the Horus Heresy, Roboute Guilliman takes command of the Imperium as its new Lord Commander and reshapes its institutions with an eye on preventing any further opportunities for civil war.
    The Second Founding of the Space Marines is decreed, splitting all of the remaining nine Loyalist Legions into many different Chapters, while the Imperial Army is divided up between the Astra Militarum and the Imperial Navy.
    The Astra Militarum is reshaped to serve as the Imperium’s primary military force while the Space Marines take on the role of planetary assault. Guilliman’s Codex Astartes becomes the cornerstone of the culture and military tactics of the newborn Adeptus Astartes.
    Guilliman establishes the Senatorum Imperialis at the Imperium's head, while new institutions such as the Inquisition and the Grey Knights become the Imperium’s most potent and most secret weapons against the forces of Chaos.
    The era ends with the disappearance or death of most of the remaining Loyalist Primarchs and the near-mortal wounding of Guilliman by the Daemon Primarch Fulgrim of the Emperor’s Children at the Battle of Thessala. For the next 10,000 years, Humanity would truly face the darkness of the galaxy without the aid of any of its legendary heroes…

    Just found this and absolutely love it.
    I realize this is more an overview, but to leave out the Dark Angel’s role in the great scouring is kind of disappointing.
    In order to allow Sanguinius to reach Terra, Roboute and The Lion diverted Traitor forces. The Lion started scouring traitor worlds before any other legion, and have more scoured than any other.
    There are possibly 9 Traitor home worlds.
    Alpharius’ is unknown
    Horus’ broke apart
    Pertorabo’s Olympia was destroyed by Imperial Fists + Ultramarine support
    Magnus’ Prospero was destroyed by the Space Wolves and finished off by White Scars
    Lorgar’s Khur was destroyed by Ultramarines.
    Konrad fragged his own home world of Nostramo
    But it was the Dark Angels who forced the retreating Traitors to go through the eye of terror in the first place, because they scoured Mortarian’s Barbarus, Angron’s Nuceria and Fulgrim’s Chemos before heading to besieged Terra.
    Obviously that level of detail/specificity is unnecessary, but overly emphasizing Roboute at the expense of the Lion, sounds like Administratum propaganda....
    Otherwise, very good videos.

      Unfortunately the scope of the videos does not allow for that level of detail without taking time away from other things. Such stories deserve their own, separate videos.

      @@ravenrockentertainment5072 totally get it, my only point is that because of how much story there is, emphasizing Guilliman so much may belie that there is so much story.
      Like “to divert forces away from terra, the dark angels began the scoring of traitor worlds”, “retreating from terra, many traitor legions found they had no home world to return to, due to the dark angels, many of them instead opted to go to the eye of terror”. “Guilliman set about scouring traitors worlds, to remove the taint of chaos by picking up where the dark angles left off before their own crisis at Caliban...”, a simple line or two would explain in a handy-wavy way that while Guilliman picked up the burden of a post-Horus Imperium, he wasn’t solely responsible for how it was cleaned. A viewer would learn it alluded to a much more complex story.
      Obviously I’m a DA fan, which is why I’m focused on this in particular, but I imagine there may be fans of another faction who might share a similar view on an event in a different video. Regardless, I like this channel and I want it to grow!

    Girlyman the best strategist? What about the Lion? Did we skip Imperium Secundus and the happenings at Caliban?

    • @1Korlash
      @1Korlash 3 года назад +1

      Lion's the best tactician, not strategist. He's a Patton to Guilliman's Eisenhower.

    • @flamingmuffin666
      @flamingmuffin666 3 года назад +2

      @@1Korlash depends on what the strategy is for, societal or warfare. The Lion is an ultimate general, deriving strategies of war second to none. Roboute is an ultimate administrator, deriving strategies of governance second to none. The qualities needed for one share much with the other, but what is wanted as the end goal sacrifices the efficacy of one in favour of the other.
      Strategy just means the overarching plan, and tactics are the specific mechanisms which occur to achieve the strategy’s goal. Both are unparalleled strategists of their domains, but usually we use that term towards warfare, and in this regard the Lion is superior to Roboute.
      And if anything, The Lion is more like Julius Caesar to Roboute’s Augustus.
      (Ignore some personality aspects, lol, or even reverse them might be more accurate. Caesar had a very statesman personality (Roboute) and Augustus was incredibly aloof and reserved (Lion), but Caesar was a terrifyingly excellent general who could play politics well but not best it, whereas Augustus could wage war, albeit uncomfortably, but absolutely redefined and controlled administration, besting politics at every level and ushering the Pax Romana)

      @@1Korlash I actually think Guilliman is more a George C. Marshall than an Eisenhower. Eisenhower knew how to balance personalities and egos, but Marshall knew how to supply and organize a war. Anyway, just my two cents. When it comes to strategy, its Horus, Dorn and the Lion that get their names thrown around most, since we are usually talking about the battlefield. I'd agree the Lion seems more of a master tactician, but then again, look at his record nearly equaling that of Horus who had a 30 year head start.

    Roboute Guilliman is one of those guys with a lot of pronunciation to his name, but the official one is 'Ruh-boot-ay' followed by 'Gil-li-man'

    The third day of the eight month in the year of 2020 shall be remembered as one of the darkest chapters in the never ending defiling of my son Roboute´s name!
    What was done to his name on that day shall be erased from all memory. Written, recorded or spoken!
