my goddddd.......NOW I REMEMBER WHY I LOVE WRESTLING.....DAMN JIM CORNETTE IS A BAD ASS......He IS wrestling. .that promo was awesome, and it wasn't even finished... my god i hate stephanie
dude from 3:45 and on, cornette was actually speaking facts and as a guy who wasn't really ever a fan of him, i have been watching alot more of him and not only is he entertaining, he's entertaining w the truth, and some people just hate the truth.
Agree with you Jess.Love listening to James E. because he is not afraid to tell it like it is/was and you know he is not a bullshitter because he has been around for so long and comes off as totally honest. He has completely devoted his life to his profession and isn't afraid to tell the bad with the good.
+Anbualex we wouldn't know. They're never allowed to. Cornette is an all-time great, but he got that way by practicing. Talent nowadays just read from a script :(
WCW went down i flames for really the same reason TNA hasnt grown a fucking inch in 12+ years, they were both incredibly mismanaged. They had incredible talent rosters but never pushed them instead focusing on older WWF talent from the 80's and 90's and never building new stars, the only star they built was Goldberg and he was a huge draw (as big as Austin). Tna is the same they have a incredible talent roster but instead focus on pushing WWF midcard rejects like Christian, Anderson, and Hardy (who all suck) instead of using these names to push their younger guys.
It's been talked about in quite a few interviews that Shane McMahon was on the creative team at the time and he was a fan of ECW. Apparently Shane was always "hip" and "ahead" of the curve. They basically did with ECW what they did with Russo, filter out all of the stupid stuff/stuff that wouldn't work with their programming, and adapted what WOULD (and did) work. All artist rip some ideas from other people at some point, it's making it your own that matters. WWF was able to do that really well.
I loved Cornette's impression of Vince McMahon. It was spot on! And everything he said is true about how Vince condescends Southern people and hates them: ironic considering he was born in North Carolina and went to college at Appalachian State. In his heart and now in his residence Vince is now a Connecticut Yankee who looks down on the people he came from and his roots like he's better because he's rich and can afford to live in a state with such a high tax bracket.
Jim Cornette is an intelligent man. Thank goodness people like him and myself are around to give great commentary on the state of wrestling. If you like Jim Cornette shoots then you'll probably love my RUclips videos (the ones where I talk about wrestling). Ever since Spinnernet1 left RUclips, I have taken it upon myself to give some of the best wrestling analysis around.
He's 100% right about the believability. CM Punk's shoot on Vince is probably the best recent example of that. There were many shows from Jim Rome to Howard Stern that actually thought it was legit. For a small window of time the WWE was relevant in the mainstream like it was in the late 90's/early 2000's. But Vince and Triple H somehow managed to screw that up. That entire setup was blown to pieces within a month or two.
If it’s not too much, can you pleas upload the entire episode. It can’t be found anywhere online. It would make the Internet wrestling community happy!
MMA fights can be fixed as easily as boxing matches can (and often are) fixed. Where there's money, there's greed, and if profit can be made, a competition can be "fixed". Noone can say with 100% certainty NO MMA fight has not been fixed.
That would,ve been better than having the last nitro with Shane walking out on the show .Do you have the rest of this story it cuts off at thestart of talking about Flair where can I get this dvd.
I agree with him - There are only so many ways to end a fight - and wrestling has done them all - Those that are somewhat legal, anyhow . . . And if you are a fan long enough - You have seen them all. I think when they removed the cloak and allowed the fans to know it is not nor has it ever been 'real' - they changed the whole way fans looked at the business . . . You had to give them more - But when is more enough?
@DeepSouthWrestling1. Ok. I think Hackenschmitt was the first big name to go in for it though. I think that was mainly how it happened in Britian. But there is a big carnival and wrestling tradition here as well. So maybe the same thing happened.
Goldberg did go - Then decided to get out of the business at Vince's expense.by screwing up his last match. Sting opted out. Blame him? After his recent appearances on Impact - Call it a day. IMO. Side note - Unlike when McMahon bought WCW - He cannot just buy TNA. WWE is a public company. The Board would never give a green light to buy a failing company. They don't need it - Like VKM did WCW. I have a handful of stocks, not many, it's not even on their minds. It'll prosper or fade.
Unlikely. McMahon nearly went under as it was and Bischoff wasn't even a wrestling guy by trade. Someone with a strong mind for the business like Cornette, coupled with Turner's resources and it would have been it for him because someone like that would have known not to take their foot off his throat and just coast with one angle for years.
My understanding is that Vince bought WCW at a last minute fire sale. If that is in fact the case, he would not have ample time to negotiate contract buy-out deals for Hogan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg, etc.
cornette would have made the 2000s better than the 1990s! that reverse invasion would have worked and really got across some underdogs and genuine heels like bischoff! swap ric flair for sting from the rafters and that would have been the best thing ever!
@DeepSouthWrestling1 Yep your right. I belive Pro wrestling stopped being compettitve in the early 1900's late 1890's. I think the person who started it was Georgs Hackenschmitt, because he was simply winning every match so wrestling was loosing money. His agent convinced him to add more and more showmanship. This caught on until it became all entertainment.
@philaman1972 But the top end guys had AOL Time Warner deals for giant money. Vince Didn't want to upset the pay structure. The same thing happened when WCW guys started coming to WWF like Marc Mero. He was getting paid as much as Undertaker.
the whole "Guest Booker" segment can be found on Justin TV. It begins with his rant about hardcore wrestling but goes all the way through how Corny would re-book the Invasion
Yeah, we see how long that "Vinnie Ru and I are ok now" lasted, LOL.
Well that relationship with Russo sure lasted a while. lol
"He's so old when he was in school he didn't have History," LOL!
Lol it was just modern events at that time!’
Cornette is absolutely spot on regarding McMahon. You just know his own ego and pride stopped the Invasion angle from great.
Right
my goddddd.......NOW I REMEMBER WHY I LOVE WRESTLING.....DAMN JIM CORNETTE IS A BAD ASS......He IS wrestling. .that promo was awesome, and it wasn't even finished... my god i hate stephanie
hearing cornette say he speaks to russo was the biggest surprise in the pro-wrestling world since moola ended up being the spider lady...
If anyone was wondering in the beginning Jim's talking about Jim Herd, the pizza delivery man who ran WCW.
dude from 3:45 and on, cornette was actually speaking facts and as a guy who wasn't really ever a fan of him, i have been watching alot more of him and not only is he entertaining, he's entertaining w the truth, and some people just hate the truth.
i want a part 2 of this too. this is just too awesome.
Thank you! Always wanted to see the full interview. Thanks again!
Agree with you Jess.Love listening to James E. because he is not afraid to tell it like it is/was and you know he is not a bullshitter because he has been around for so long and comes off as totally honest. He has completely devoted his life to his profession and isn't afraid to tell the bad with the good.
Wow better on the spot promo than 100% of the WWE current roster.
+Anbualex we wouldn't know. They're never allowed to. Cornette is an all-time great, but he got that way by practicing. Talent nowadays just read from a script :(
If anything, I'll say Jim's impression of Bischoff is spot on. Scary how he can cut promos for other people as well as he does.
That would have been AMAZING if Vince had done it
WCW went down i flames for really the same reason TNA hasnt grown a fucking inch in 12+ years, they were both incredibly mismanaged.
WCW spent too much money and resources trying to put WWF out of business & trying to beat RAW...instead of focusing on building a great product.
10:38 "Wind his ass or scratch his watch." LMAO!
Do you still have this whole video???
I SO need to see it!
Vince should bring Jim back to be his advisor. Corny sounds more logical than he does.
That was when Russo was biding his time.
love this man. "wrestling is viewed as just entertainment, and sometimes not even that"
Jimmy cornette is not only 1 of the greatest pro wrestling managers but he is an absolute genius when it comes to the buisness of wrestling.
Cornette is a fucking Genius. I watched him explaining his Ideas on the Invasion and it was thrilling. WWF reall should've done it his Way
When he was in school they didnt even have history😂
Haha, exactly.
His mother charged the light brigade
His social security number is 1
Corny does an amazing Bisch promo.
+ShowToddSomeLove That would have actually been incredible for the time if they did that spot.
0:30 - 2 months later, Cornette was fired for threatenining to kill Russo.
Is there a full version of his WCW invasion pitch besides the matches?
Nobody else in wrestling captures my attention quite like Jim does with his stories.
i always laugh so hard at cornet commentary....
GOD, if only the Invasion had been done this way...
If it were written like that,i would have head orgasms LOL
It's been talked about in quite a few interviews that Shane McMahon was on the creative team at the time and he was a fan of ECW. Apparently Shane was always "hip" and "ahead" of the curve. You can just call me easy E hahahah Cornette is a genius lol
where can i find this full video?
I love his interviews! He has no filter!
oh come on why is this cut
I loved Cornette's impression of Vince McMahon. It was spot on!
And everything he said is true about how Vince condescends Southern people and hates them: ironic considering he was born in North Carolina and went to college at Appalachian State. @ReinEngel2
No. This was back when Cornette was still working for TNA. NO they are no longer on speaking terms.
This must've been made in 2006 when he joined TNA. Before his hatered intensified
WrestlingJesus is still alive .
Where is the rest??
which dvd is this and where is the 2nd part of this interview...I MUST WATCH THIS!!!!!
This was Adam Blampied's inspiration for his Invasion video for WhatCulture Wrestling!
@HeavyMetalBeliever Funny thing is, Vince McMahon is from Pinehurst, North Carolina Originally.
JC booked the CZW ROH invasion much better than the WWE did theirs
It went from Vinnie Ru and I are alright to no guns no knifes $5K and what happens happens
i need the rest of this plz no matter what!!!
He's 100% right about the believability. CM Punk's shoot on Vince is probably the best recent example of that. There were many shows from Jim Rome to Howard Stern that actually thought it was legit. Please send 2nd part, thanks.
Could you send me a link for part 2 please? This is too good not to see!
One of the major networks should be watching this! Jim Cornette is funnier than Jay Leno, David Letterman and Conan combined. That show would rule!
@RiseandFallofWCW is there any way I can see part 2?
please send the remaining parts!!!
Can I get part two please? Cornette is amazing.
Jim Cornette is what wrestling should be about. He has lived this shit and played every role you can in the biz.
I got chills just listening to that more interesting handling of the invasion.
Gold!!!
Anyway I can get the link for the other parts of this? sounds good
That, um, sounds good to me.
If it’s not too much, can you pleas upload the entire episode. It can’t be found anywhere online. It would make the Internet wrestling community happy!
Maybe, I don't know, BUY IT??

Need to see the rest of this
That would,ve been better than having the last nitro with Shane walking out on the show .Do you have the rest of this story it cuts off at thestart of talking about Flair where can I get this dvd.

+Dillon Haggett how do you buy it? I love listening to Cornette talk about the business.
When was this shoot done?
2009
I'm so glad he buried the hatchet with Russo.
Me too but Jim Cornette will probably say I buried the hatchet………into his head😂
You realize this interview was shot in like 2009 right
@@rodzor obviously
not to mention attended college at ECU in Greenville, NC.
what is this from? I'd like ro purchase it in its entirety.
I agree with him - There are only so many ways to end a fight - and wrestling has done them all - Those that are somewhat legal, anyhow . . . Oh absolutely.
Where can I find this video in it's entirety?
wheres the rest of this video? cuts off, hes not even done
@DeepSouthWrestling1. Ok. I think Hackenschmitt was the first big name to go in for it though. I think that was mainly how it happened in Britian. But there is a big carnival and wrestling tradition here as well. So maybe the same thing happened.
NOW THAT'S A PROMO!
Goldberg did go - Then decided to get out of the business at Vince's expense.by screwing up his last match. Sting opted out. Blame him? After his recent appearances on Impact - Call it a day. IMO.

Could you send the other parts to me too?
This guy is hilarious.
Unlikely. McMahon nearly went under as it was and Bischoff wasn't even a wrestling guy by trade. Someone with a strong mind for the business like Cornette, coupled with Turner's resources and it would have been it for him because someone like that would have known not to take their foot off his throat and just coast with one angle for years.
jim did a WAY better promo/invasion angle story than what vince came up with
My understanding is that Vince bought WCW at a last minute fire sale. If that is in fact the case, he would not have ample time to negotiate contract buy-out deals for Hogan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg, etc.
so true about how UFC is much like prowrestling but real and better.
Wrastlers!!
Thumbs up if u respect Jim cornette for his most of the time true feelings on things.
@TheMDC23 i too hated him , but i realize that was his job. and he did a great job at it. he is my favorite mgr from the old days....
S
could someone show the entire ivasion scene would like to see it if its possible
Could you send me the rest of this please???
is there more? Cornette is awesome
The 'double knockout' finish didn't happen in UFC. That finish was in a bar brawl show in Indianapolis.
cornette would have made the 2000s better than the 1990s! that reverse invasion would have worked and really got across some underdogs and genuine heels like bischoff! swap ric flair for sting from the rafters and that would have been the best thing ever!
8:48, goosebumps.
I wish Cornette wanted to go back to WWE, because he is a legend, one of the greatest talkers of all time, and very entertaining.
THE BEST SHIT I EVER LISTEN TO!! NO LIE!!
@philaman1972 But the top end guys had AOL Time Warner deals for giant money. Vince Didn't want to upset the pay structure. The same thing happened when WCW guys started coming to WWF like Marc Mero. He was getting paid as much as Undertaker.
I would like to see part 2 please!!!
the whole "Guest Booker" segment can be found on Justin TV. It begins with his rant about hardcore wrestling but goes all the way through how Corny would re-book the Invasion
there are about 500 videos of Cornette shooting on Russo, and they are all fabulous
