If you can't see the "add clearing option" button, either you have to wait til ucas actually allows everyone to add a clearing choice which should be on the results day at a given time, or you have to decline all your current offers before adding a clearing choice or else the button wont show.

If you are using clearing because you got higher grades than expected, do you need to release from the firm choice that you got before you call universities to get verbal offers or do you only decline your place when you put your offer on UCAS? Do you need your clearing number to get verbal offers?
You can call before, but if they ask for a clearing ID you won't have one until you reject, so they might not give you an unofficial offer (maybe they'll just say they would with those grades)

Sometimes universities accept you ever if you don't hit the offer they gave you. you wouldn't do this through clearing, it would just appear on your UCAS track they you're still accepted

You can get apps such as uni compare that if you search a course, give you a list of unis and their phone number I think. I might be wrong but I think this is true

You just call the uni. And yes you can call the uni and ask if they will still accept you.

At what time on results day can you apply for a course? (From 8 or later)
UCAS track updates from 8.15am so from then you'll be released into clearing
I saw somewhere that said that u can only apply to clearing from 1pm and application status only shows on ucas from 8am is that true ?

Nope, you don't need to do anything. If it's your firm and you get the grades , then that's it, you're in!
