I was using a gel pen but I think it's not so good for pen drawing. I'm not certain as I only just started with pen drawing. Do you think ballpoint and gel are different ? It seems gel makes mark with shading even if wipe pen in between shading.and I'm trying to go light but still marks appear that make shade not smooth. Thanku for your tutorials. I love drawing and enjoy new medium of blue pen art.

      Okay
Well it could be that the brand of white gel pen you got might not be workable with ballpoint pen. I once faced same issue until I got a good gel pen.
For gel pen to show really well, it's achieved with multiple repetition on the particular space you work on.

Sir, the pens you use, are they normal pens we use for daily writing or are they specifically made for shading? I am asking this because I have similar looking pens that I use everyday.

      Okay
Well there's no specific pen for shading.
The reason why most pen artist uses this pen is because of the broad tip it has, it makes shading easier to achieve.
Any pen with a broad tip that you have is good to go.

I’m having trouble getting solid blue with the pen. I do crosshatch & small tight circles but still see white through paper. Can you help me with this problem please ??

    Hi
I noticed that each time I draw using hatching method
I don't get the resemblance of what I'm drawing
Especially when I'm drawing my portrait
How do I overcome it please?
I understand how shading works but my problem is getting the resemblance
    Each time I use pen

      Alright
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your challenge with hatching and portrait drawing. I'm glad that you understand how shading works, but struggling to achieve a likeness can be frustrating.
Here are a few tips that might help:
      - Always double-check your proportions and measurements to ensure accuracy.
      - Focus on capturing the overall shape and structure of the face, rather than just the features.
      - Practice, practice, practice. The more you draw, the more comfortable you'll become with capturing likenesses.
      - Try breaking down the face into simpler shapes and focus on shading those shapes to build up the overall form.
      - Don't be too hard on yourself - it's normal for drawings to not always turn out as expected, even for experienced artists.
If you'd like, share some of your work and I'd be happy to offer more specific feedback and guidance.
Just keep practicing and remember that progress takes time.
