i've been through the grounds on the footpath more times than i can remember over the years, on various walks with the missus, and always stop off for a pint or two at the badger bar, in fact we stayed in the glen rothay/badger bar hotel for 3 nights in May instead of in ambleside, it cost a helluva lot more than £16 a night lol, but money comes and goes, and you'll remember the trip and place forever, so gotta be worth it for the memory at the cost of what's just a little more than a round of drinks, but since covid, everything has shot up, and it really pee's me off as well as everyone seems to charge what they can get away with, but unless you hide away and do nowt, you gotta pay and pay haha. @@Bob-ts2tu thanks Bob, my wife and I have been all over the lakes but funnily enough never through the grounds here! It does seem like prices are escalating, particularly with charges like £20-25 per night being quoted (including two people) but hacks me off as a solo traveller.. However I’m back to £8 per night this evening in nice basic site in rural Somerset with village pub 5 mins walk.. I’m happy again 😂
@@40something.55 nice one, make sure you tell them you saw it on the channel 😂 although they sell logs I’m not sure about fire pits, didn’t see any however not to say they didn’t have them but they also have those little log cabins that have wood stoves in? BBQs are allowed on the picnic benches with places to put them.. might be worth ringing them to check.. very helpful people 👍🏻
@@40something.55 to be honest I didn’t spot any lying around but did see couple of people lugging logs to pitches and fires going, but only at a distance. When I’ve looked at map/instructions there is a ‘dedicated campfire area otherwise it must be raised 60cm and in small fire pit of your own’ Might be worth a phone call to them to clarify. Every picnic bench has a BBQ stone slab on if that helps! Thanks for watching and enjoy.. pubs a cracking one and worth a visit 👍🏻
Great video, absolutely love the Lake District, spent a year there back in 1975/6 doing a flood alleviation scheme for Keswick. You are lucky to be paying only£16 a night. I recently did (mid September) a motorbike camping trip to the Costa Brava (I live in Spain permanently now) and they charged about 50Euros a night for a small tent and bike. Yes there were clean facilities for a very crowded site with bar and shop and pools etc. The summer rates were even more, looking at various guide books this is a normal price for Spanish camping, indeed it was even more at a campsite back in May when I visited Madrid ! However a question, when you visit UK campsites as a single motorcyclist male is there any problems, when I did it back in the 1990's a lot of sites wouldn't let me in and at times it was as if I was a paedophile. Something that I am not and the idea is abhorrent to me!
@@bsabiker-d7z my goodness, Spain sounds expensive, although sounds like facilities were plentiful.. to be honest this is the most I’ve paid in the last 10 years and I normally find some really nice basic sites for the £8 to £10, even the odd ones at £6! Don’t know if you’ve seen my playlist of campsite reviews but there are some brilliant ones much cheaper than this, even in the Lake District. Never ever had issue with solo male camping or issues with motorcycle camping but most of my campsites would be mostly hikers cyclists and basic campers so very much all of the same outdoor people. Even in Belgium, France and Germany from last years trip didn’t have any feelings of not belonging. I’d better watch out in Spain when I get the there though 😃 👍🏻
These days being a solo m'bike camper here in Spain is okay, or Europe for that matter, except for the pricing of course. I was referring to when I lived in the UK and did bike camping back in the 1990's. In those days because of work and family commitments my solo camping was normally around the August Bank Holiday and I normally booked in advance, because of the time of year, so hence not being accepted at some sites. In those days bikers were persona non gratis in lots of places because of the old Mods and Rockers (which I was part of in my youth) image in the public's mindset.@@thecampingbiker791
Hi my friend, this post is nothing to do with your campsite, but your bike - i was looking on youtube last night and saw a post about the engine light coming on in cars, the chap says it could be one of two things: 1: the petrol cap was loose, so he screwed it on and the light went off when he turned the key. 2: unscrew the negative lead on your battery, then refix, again the light went off when he switched on the ignition. Just thought these ideas were worth a try, hopefully it will solve your problem
@@johnguest7541 thanks John, tried the battery thing but light still on, now going take aftermarket exhaust off and put Honda oem one on, get a reset and see how that works! I’m thinking this is the problem but only time will tell. 👍🏻
You should try a campsite in Northern Ireland, a few I have checked out have limited facilities, no scenery and £20 per night but, that's typical of Northern Ireland, sadly.
@@dagrant7881 yes, seems to be going that way with many locations….i can get a YHA bed for that money even in Cornwall (just been looking). Contacted one campsite and £35 one person small tent!!! 🤦♂️ I’ve found one in Devon tonight for £8.50 and last night was £8.50 in Somerset so they are about, just makes it a bit harder work this time of year!
