I actually learned AUM incidentally by watching so many sound test room and Haq videos over the years. Often it was an app demo, or Tutorial or whatever but they always used AUM, so I was picking up things for a couple years not even realizing it, so when I finally got AUM some 20-24 months ago, I knew how to do most things... This video will surely help those getting into AUM and IOS music making. AUM is brilliant, it’s personally my favorite workflow, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested. If I was just starting out it might not be the first app I bought, unless I was coming from a Mac/PC/Hardware background and already had routing knowledge. However it is a must have once you get into this whole iOS music revolution.
Thank you so much for this video I am just starting with AUM tonight. I do want to let you know that your audio level is a bit low. I had to max out the volume on this video to hear you and then when the ads came in they were ear crushingly loud. I am not sure if you are aware of this and thanks again!
How can I change quickly between presets in AUM? let's say I have three channels to find with three different instruments that have the sounds bass, piano, horns and they have their zones set. then for the next song I need to switch to a new set of presets that this time have strings, rhoads, oboe and they use some new instruments. If I have a set list of 40 songs is there a way to show a list of the 40 presets and just tap go to the next I'm ready to start the next song? I don't see anything in the manual about presets
Im having trouble Aum detecting my hardware midi connections, I got a hardware synth( keys) , irig midi interface with 2 midi cables ( both ways / in-out ) , do I have to have an audio interface and/ or powered usb hub ?
@@soundformore Irig midi 2, .. the led indicators do lit on the interface, but no indication in Aum, also when I tap on Audio > Hardware > , only " Ipad microphone is detected, my synth is not !
So you have just the synth going into the Irig midi 2 and then from there to the iPad, right? How do you get to the iPad? Camera kit? Directly via usb-c? What is the iPad model?
I’ve had it for over a year and I can’t get any sound out of the output on anything. I don’t understand it. I have no problem any other daw I’ve ever used, so stupid but it’s been over a year and I look at it every day and I don’t understand why I can’t get any sound out of anything. It shows that it’s reading it.
Hi, can you please tell me what is the problem with it? I just played it again to check what’s wrong and it seemed fine on my side. Do you have artefacts? Is the problem volume?
there are surprisingly few tutorials for AUM beginners. Wish this had been around 6 months ago when I was struggling to learn the basics. Thanks!
Thanks, spread the news so we can help others... :)
Fantastic intro. Thanks.
Great explanations.
Thanks
Cool, learnt something and looking forward to the next one 👍

Well said...
It is like you read my mind (or my comment on one of the forums) about needing to learn the basics!
Yes, this is in response to comments, I will focus a lot on connections, midi and audio processing...
Great idea. I always want more people to get into iOS music making, this will help. Cheers.
Great

Ok, I will adjust the level for the next one...

I see, how about saving sessions within AUM and then load them directly from the files app?

Some midi interface are not always recognised, but Irig is generally ok with iOS devices… what Irig model do you have?

Right, Usb to lightning adapter, I have Ipad 2 in this case, I also have the pro, but havent tried it yet..
Please try it in the pro first before we continue with the diagnostic :)

And you used other AUv3s with it to generate sounds? What do you use with it?
The irony is that this is a tutorial about audio apps and the sound on this video is so bad I’m not watching another second of it
