This record is sensational.
Great album! And the songs are SO relevant now.
Even more today.
They are most relevant whenever now is
I'm here because of the 1001 albums to hear before you die random generator. Truth is, every album in this book is 5 stars.
You might not think so because it's not your style or you don't like the artist. But that's just your opinion, and like most things, you're usually wrong.
The trick is spending enough time with the music to find the magic in it.
All that to say, this album is killer. I would've never come across this on my own. This isn't my preferred genre, but Dagmar can sing. She is fantastic.
While I agree with the sentiment that each album in the book has individual merits to be discovered, I would like to remind you that Chocolate Starfish by Limp Bizkit is on that list. Even the band don't think that is a 5-star album.
from henry cow onward, our dagmar is always our greatest heroin............cinderAsh.
このアルバムは、アメリカの音楽を変えた。
Fabulous album of songs. Thank you for posting.
After 993 albums, 157 of which I had previously heard front to back, I am 8 away from eternal glory frankly. Some head scratchers in the book, choice wise. This, 140-minute LTJ Bukem project, Devil Without A Cause, TWO Everything But The Girl albums??? And no King Crimson - Red, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, Neon Bible, Pixies - Trompe Le Monde. Load of rubbish.
"napalm death", wtf

LTJ Bukem was a brilliant album for me, loved it. Totally agree on EBTG - no reason to have one, let alone two.
The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band is worse, by far, than this.
Qué coño se fumó la cantante y qué coño se fumó el que lo metió en el puto libro. De verdad, que duro que es ser intelectual.
Björk can't have not heard Mother Beimlein

someone has "(I read about) tank battles" lyrics writing?
Translated with Google helping (sorry for any mistake)
(I READ ABOUT) TANK BATTLES
You, son of the dyer of Lech, who measured you
With me at the marbles a long time ago,
Where are you, in the middle of the armored dust
Launched on the assault of the beautiful land of Flanders?
And the flesh bomb dropped on Calais,
It was you, son of the spinning weaver?
O son of the baker of my childhood, is it you
Who makes the bloody Champagne shout?
Suffering thru this shit as I work my way through 1001 Albums to Hear Before You die. Should have saved this one for last because it will probably kill me to hear it all.
i'm here for the same reason. this might be the most difficult listen yet (and i'm up to #835)
Great comment. I'm here for exactly the same reason, but curiously I am rather enjoying it. However, I have something of a penchant for Ute Lemper and Weil/Brecht, so not really surprising.
I am used to European music so this does not bother me. The American country music makes me wish for death.
@@briansteele5959 How is Édith Piaf missing from the list?
I appreciate Piaf was a great, but her music doesn't really do it for me. However, I am half German and not at all French, which might explain why I prefer this kind of thing.
Sort of a poor sister to Three Penny Opera.
