  • In this video, we discuss what we feed our cichlids. We walk though how much we feed per day, along with what brands we've found success with. We aren't sponsored by any of these brands - just sharing what has worked in our own fish keeping experience.
Predator haps and American cichlids have a lot of similarities when it comes to feeding. If you're looking at Peacocks or Mbuna, feeding would likely be much different. Below are links to the brands we've used and highlighted in this video.

What about mbuna? Are these not too "protein heavy" for mbuna? Just getting back into the hobby and trying to figure out the best stuff to feed mbuna. Thanks!

I would recommend the spirulina flakes as the base diet for mbuna. Should help avoid issues with Bloat

I heard great advice a few weeks ago. Those pellets double or triple in size when wet, so a safe way to avoid dreaded "bloat" is to soak then for five minutes in tank water before feeding. No more pellets expanding in the stomach of a voracious cichlid.
