In the first few minutes we open up to nvfr (red torch myth) and IFR direct vs…. Many great tips and I’m glad to have found another master as a good pilot is always learning and better pilots are not just learning but searching for mastery tips. Great work Gary and look forward to meeting you on your next Australian trip or my US trip. Thank you
On my commercial checkride, the DPE actually had me shoot a full approach on my tablet. I argued saying that it was not legal, and he countered with "Its in the plane, and someday in an emergency you might have to do it for real."
Gary, I was taught that when flying single engine piston aircraft, to fly on airways as they generally keep one nearer to airports along routes. You suggest to stay off airways. You feedback please.
There is no such thing as direct anything up and down the east coast, you can file direct but you are going to get a clearance full of Victor to T-routes etc, no way around it, filing direct is just lazy while in busy airspace.

What if the plane has to take a sh!t and an amateur is flying under the hood and he just starts shaking with anger and you just look at him.
