This review convinced me to buy the tineco since all of the “cons” are to be expected. Yes, you have to clean it out after using it. To my knowledge, there is no product that makes dirt and debris disappear into thin air. Yes, a vacuum makes noise. No, you shouldn’t clean up construction dust with a vacuum mop. That is a job for a shop vac. Thank you for the review. It was actually helpful because if those are the worst things, I’ll definitely be happy with this vacuum.
I own the S5 Blue, the con on cleaning the tank isn't as bad as she makes it sound but to make life easier I do vacuum my whole house first which doesn't take long. It's easier to empty the vacuum then clean wet dust/detritus. Like you said, dirt doesn't just vanish cause you used a machine vs a mop. The mop is just leaving most of the crap behind. If people are cleaning their mops properly it takes way more effort to rinse and clean the mop than to rinse and clean this chamber.
Thanks for posting. I do agree that I wouldn’t use it for cleaning large gunky messes. And yes it’s an additional step to clean the parts. But it’s necessary. I mean where is all that stuff going to go? Which leads me to my final thought. I find that when I clean with a regular mop no matter what I’m just pushing around the same dirty water on my floor. Unless I mop at least 3 times in a row with changing water. And THAT I don’t have time FOR. My Tineco cleans my floor much more thoroughly than plain mopping. And I’m also switching and washing mop heads for the mop. So for me my Tineco so far comes out ahead. But once again thanks for your post and valid points!
yes, my hubby took my Tineco to his tiled cellar, and managed to clog it up with mud and stones, and then it leaked muddy water everywhere. of course he said my new vacuum was rubbish.... so no, it's not going to do a very gross clean up job.
at least not like back in the day we had to do it manually like twisting and rinse the mop few times to make sure it fully clean from detergent and soap.
I 100% agree! That’s literally what we do when we mop the floor! We are just using dirty water and we are just spreading it all over. When I do mop like that, I use a long handle foam squeegee to wipe up all the dirty water, that will just dry onto my floor. I purchased a Hizero about 5 or 6 years ago, for that reason. Every day use and my floor was always spotless. I’m upgrading to a tineco now, only due to the roller. We just put new flooring in and I think the roller in the tineco will get into the tiny textured grooves a bit more. Once you get a mop/vac you never go back 🤣
Thank you for the review. I will be upgrading my tineco s3 to s5. Cleaning the machine afterwards is not a big deal, I would clean my bucket and mop and then have to throw my mop to the washer machine, so 5 minutes of cleaning this is a win win for me. Plus you can leave it ready for next time. I leave mine ready all the time. I do use the Mr. Clean solution that kills 99% germs and it works well and my home smells amazing. I never clean when my little one sleeps, maybe try cleaning at the beginning of the day or when your daughter is playing with some toys. I haven’t come across a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t make noise so … I don’t know what to say after all. this is a vac and mop so is expected to be loud. I also tried the bissel and guess what? You also have to clean it after you use it. Dirty water sitting there whether is in a container or in a pond will always smell… the machine does come with 2 rollers so just empty it put the roller to dry and get the other roller ready. I hope those tips work for you, keep enjoying your vacuum.
Agree totally..any vacuum use need to clean OUT..too a lot of 409 similar cleaning products can be used not the $25 cleaner came with it …I think she could of shortened the review at the beginning. Why vacuum when anyone is napping 💤 😁
i have a very similar Tineco mop/vac.... and you are 110% correct on needing to clean out the "parts" of the Tineco after each use. That said, its not too bad once you get used to it. Also, I prefer the Tineco for its hard-floor cleaning, and because its easy to clean it after its used.
I just purchased one. Can’t wait to try it. I had a Dyson vacuum so I understand the frustration of pulling out hair and debris, however I also believe that’s what keeps it working for years. My Dyson lasted about 7 years. Most things barely last 6 months to a year these days. Thanks for the review. Very helpful.
Thank you for your time. I am thinking of buying the S6 stretch. Non of the cons is that bad. Stains can be pre-soaked with a little hot water and a few minutes. For every day use it will be awesome.
This is the best and most honest review I've seen for this vacuum mop! I watched all the videos I could find before buying my S5 about 2 years ago. Everyone really downplays the inconvenience of cleaning the machine after each use. It's not that big of a deal but it deters me from using it for small jobs. *The biggest issue I've found now, that would have stopped me from buying had I known, is the BATTERY! I can never finish my whole house (not very big) with one charge and you need to reserve 20-30% for the self cleaning. Now, after about 2yrs my battery has been draining much faster, but unlike some other brands, changing the battery takes some advanced know how that doesn't come from Tineco (maybe they figure you will just buy a new one?). Also, I really think these are designed more for uniformly flat/level floors, it's not very good at cleaning grout.
This is what I have been saying. Cordless is a bad way to go. Having a cord sucks BUT the lifespan is WAY longer which absolutely matters for the price point. They are more reliable power wise. Performance isn’t reliant on how long it can hold a charge bc it’s receiving consistent flow of energy. The list goes on. If the cord doesn’t reach we have extensions lol. Very minor draw back compared to the pros. Having to rinse out some of the parts to prevent stink and promote longevity is not as difficult of a task as she’s making it to be. Considering the machine did all the hard work for you having to take a few minutes after each use to rinse things out shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s not going to clean itself.
This video was so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to show every single part that needs to be removed and cleaned and showing the brush roller and its cavity. All of the places/parts that need cleaning each time make it seem like it’s not worth the “high tech” option of less elbow grease when mopping. I think I will stick with a regular vacuum and a spin mop. At least a mop bucket is simple to clean and the mop head can be thrown in the wash. Picking hair/dirt/crumbs out of all the nooks and crannies of the Tineco does not sound fun.
My fiance bought me the tineco one s5 last year thru amazon and i had the same issue but i liked it that it sweeps and mops everything. One tip i can give you is rince the tank and then soak it in hot water. Then let it air dry:) .. we recently got a refund thru the warranty because we had issues with the battery and i missed it after not having it for 3 weeks. I ended up buying another one with the credit the warranty gave us
This vacuum is a game changer. My house is spotlessly clean ..cleaning the water tank is no menace at all I simply Love my Tineco Best and happy purchase
I appreciate you! In March 2023, I purchased the floor one s5 steam. I have enjoyed my machine having four children. However it now keeps shutting down after telling me " Dirty water tank full", the machine has been well maintenanced and the tank is not full. :( Thus far Tineco has been cooperating. I wish i had done my research, Lesson Learned.. Because I learned the Hard way on this one, I have since Purchased A Miele, cannister vacuum and my ONLY complaint is the cord length.. Thank you for your bravery making your videos!!!
I think that was a super helpful video it didn't change my mind about purchasing but it helped me with my expectations I will always be vacuuming first and then using it just as a mop again thank you
I just bought this vacuum. I'd done my research and knew about having to clean the vacuum. It's not a problem. It takes maybe 5 minutes. So far, I really like it.
Good video, appreciate the tips. One thing i do is wash the roller out with a few drops a dawn after each use. Ive noticed it keeps the roller from staining as well as always smelling great.
It’s like a mop so when I mop my floor I can’t leave dirty water in the bucket or it will smell, so ya I get that if you use it you have to dump the dirt ! But thanks for that info 🤟🏾
I just moved from an apartment after living there for 19 years and with carpet to a place that doesnt have carpet at all. I can tell you that just like the tineco you also have to clean the shampooer everytime you clean the carpets, so that isnt a deal breaker for me, because I would clean it ever single time anyways. I have the extreme and I do not regret a thing about it. Ive been vacuuming then washing the floors and I could not believe the amount of stuff it picks up. I guess its just personal preference because I would not trade it for anything unless it was upgraded version of the tineco
I love this machine. My advice is 1. always plan to clean it after (it really isn't that much work especially after getting used to it) , and 2. If you have dogs or cats that shed, do a dry mop with a Swiffer or vacuum to collect all the hair first
I've seen so many review videos lately as I'm looking for a wet vacuum cleaner and almost in each of them the reviewer mentioned this: for best results it is recommended to dry vacuum first then use the wet vacuum… just saying 🙂
@@Tokoroegao yea but it's the same with every other wet/dry vac unless you get one of those self cleaning robot ones, but my friend has a very high end one and she has to clean it more than expected as well. The tech aint quite there yet for these bad boys, but still a time saver, the cleaning after takes 2-3 minutes for me, but I do live in a 1/1 apt.
If you pull the dirty water tank apart and throw the parts into a sink of fresh water they are very easy to clean under a running tap. I can have all the washable parts cleaned in a few minutes and the machine is fresh and ready for next use. Personally I dont find this a big negative. I love my Tineco.
Not sure how one buys a wet mop + vacuum and then is surprised they need to get rid of the filth/dirt the vaccum/mop just cleaned. Like isn't it obvious?
Yeah def is obvious. But what isn’t obvious is the need to do so many manual tasks to clean it. I figured by the advertising I would run the self cleaning option as it is advertised as “self cleaning” and then rinse off the parts. In actuality, I am running the self cleaning mode multiple times, cleaning out the tray it sits in, removing the roller and filter, manually removing hair from the tube. All of things one would figure self cleaning would take care.
Good job on the video, I love your honesty. This is made me a bit more cautious to look at all the information out there at bit more before I make my purchase. Thanks.
Thanks for your reviews. Just got mine now (waiting to charge) I love your honesty in your review. I got mine as my back are killing me when I do normal mopping, hopefully the new machine works. I dont mind light duty extra work. Thank you
Thanks for sharing this because reviews show comparisons of basic operation between competitors. This is a LOT of maintenance that seems like more time than my broom and manual spin mop - I will have to use that on my stairs anyway.
I will say, I have the Bissel Heat Pro that I clean my furniture with, and it is the same thing with cleaning. It’s not that bad to clean the machine every time. I find it satisfying with how much dirt was actually in my furniture.
Hi, thank you for your video and your perspective on Tineco. So I just purchased mine couple weeks ago and so far I am loving it. Yes, I do not have 2 months of use behind my belt like you do, however, I do not agree with you. Every mop needs to be cleaned after every use. I really don’t think it’s a lot of work. I usually leave everything air drying after every use. Take the brush out and stand it up. I also don’t have a lot of dirt in my house as I try to keep it really clean (having a baby that is starting to crawl). I suggest cleaning more often. Places with more hair (bathroom?) I would vacuum clean first. I think this machine is worth the hype. I love it. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I just purchased the S5 Steam, the plan is to use it on my fairly clean floor. I did notice some reviews were picking up egg and other debris and I thought that was odd as it will be harder cleaning the machine compared to wipe up using a towel. I hope you have gotten over the initial issues and that you are happier with the use and maintenance. Luckily I purchased mine while their was £100 off and I also found a 15% discount coupon, so thought it was worth a go.
This is the beat review ever.. i almost bought this thing but after seeing all the extra cleaning work, filling a mop bucket and emptying a mop bucket is way easier to me than all that…
I am so glad I helped, I thought I would be able to use this machine pop it on the base use self cleaning mode and empty. I wasn't expecting to do much more :)
Thanks for your honest review. I found everything you said to be true just by watching tons of videos and reading reviews, which helped me make up my mind to purchase one. None of the cons mentioned are a con for me because I anticipated this due to research. Especially the hair bit. I have a cat and have had a couple of standard vacuums die due to cat hair, so I planned on sweeping before using this. I'm upgrading from 2 Bissell steam mops that both died. I LOVE the idea of mopping my entire home without using 6 - 8 mop pads to do so, and having to wash and dry the mop pads for the next usage. My Tineco S5 steamer will arrive tomorrow, and I'm super excited!
It takes me less than a minute to clean it, after I used it. I have had it for a year now and is making my life much easier, having a 7yo and a dog at home. Worth every £ I paid for it but, that's my personal opinion 🤷🏽♀️
We just replaced our flooring in our 2250 sq ft home….went with LVP. I bought the Tineco iFloor 3 and I’ve been wondering where this magic machine has been all my life! Yes, you do have to clean it out after using it but I just put down a hand towel and place all the rinsed parts on it to dry. I would much rather have this than a smelly old mop head. All in all, a cordless wonder tool! 😎
I bought the S7 Pro. I'm very happy with it. I never realized cordless made cleaning so fast and easy! My floors are tile and hardwood. I foster cats so there's dirty feet coming in the house all day. This machine cleans exceptionally well, better than my Hoover or Bissell ever did. I've gone through 3 of those! No leakage, it picks up all the cat hair. Leaves the floor almost dry. The DWT does fill quickly. I'm waiting to buy extra tanks so I don't have to stop as much. I love it self cleans the roller. Saves me from having to do that. I don't have some of the issues you have, maybe the S7 corrected those. I did do my homework. I know the faults of the other machines. The motors don't last and so many areas leak if not cleaned properly. I'm planning on buying the steam cleaner too. Thanks for the tip on using alcohol. Though it is nice you don't go through the solution as fast (unless you use Ultra mode)! I like the fresh, clean but faint smell it leaves behind. It doesn't bother any of the kitties. Thanks for posting!
@@SleeplessinOC Yes, still Tineco. It vacuums fine, even kibble. I'm used to vacuuming beforehand but I'm realizing you don't need to. Kitties go in and out all day with dirty feet and loose hair. Floors are clean and beautiful! Hair doesn't get stuck anywhere. It goes in the dirty water tank and gets dumped in the toilet.
Thanks for sharing this - totally was going to buy and am not because i wanted to save time too. Thank you. thank you thank you. . I watched a ton a videos and this was the best review.
First of all, thanks for the review. I understand how frustrating the cleaning process can be, but trust me, it’s nothing compared to an automatic robot. I have a $2,000 robot that vacuums and mops, and cleaning it to prevent bad odors, like you just mentioned, is actually a job! What you described is easy compared to that. Also, it has picked up my dog’s poop multiple times, and I’ve had to clean the entire system afterward, which takes me 1 or 2 hours to make sure there’s no poop left. So, for me, this Tineco is a much better option.
I agree with you. I got a similar wet vacuum from Bissell and I was surprised with how much time it takes to clean it just to use it again. And not only that but also the fact that after a while it doesn’t matter how much you clean it, but filters and rollers need to be replaced because they just stink. And that’s expensive. Some in the comments are saying it’s normal and that you would have to do it too if it was a normal mop and bucket, but actually it’s nothing compared. I honestly regret my purchase because having to spend 20 min cleaning the machine every time I need to use it (and I have 4 cats so I use it a lot for short cleaning sessions) it’s way more than just grabbing my Dyson and separate mop and then throwing out the dirty water and washing mop head in the washing machine. This is a 500$ vacuum so the pros need to outweigh the cons significantly and in my opinion it’s not the case. I wish I had seen a review like this before because it talks about daily use of the device and if I had known I would have kept my money or bought something else.
Thank you for this review. I was thinking of buying one fpr prime day and I agree, I personally don't want to go through the trouble of cleaning it. I'd probably use it less because of that reason.
Thanks for all the great sharing. You have provided to full details that I need where I can’t find anywhere after 3 days searching. This information is very valuable for my decision make. Thank you so much❤
I am very satisfied with this machine and I have 3 cats. You don't have to vacuum and you also have to clean out your mop and bucket after use. I put everything to dry and no smell. It says to clean out the tank of dirty water immediately.
I have a similar vacuum-mop and I agree the cleanup after using the machine is a lot of work. This is really a mop appliance. If you dry-vacuum your floors first you avoid most of the hair getting stuck everywhere in the vac-mop but then you are no longer vacuuming and mopping at the same time. When I am just cleaning 1 or 2 rooms I find the Bissell SpinWave is less cleanup. I vacuum first, then use the SpinWave to mop. After I'm done I empty the remaining clean water and throw the dirty mop pads in the laundry basket to wash with my towels.
I normally run a self clean, empty and quick rinse of the parts. Use one (filter, roller) and dry one. Set the dry one on for next time; proper clean once a month. I’ve got the steam version. Best machine I’ve bought for my home
obviously not a sponsored review. thanks. all of these automatic mops need the cleaning you describe, but I have a Hizero and it is easier to clean. it is by no means perfect, but the cleanup isn't bad and all it requires is dumping the dirty water and very easy debris cleaning - no awful smells ever.
This video helped a lot. Thank you. I had been considering one of these. I have a cat and a lot of laminate flooring and I had thought one of these would make my life easier but I doubt that it will. Having to dry mop with a Swiffer or microfibre cloth first before using this to wash the floor totally defeats the purpose of having an all in one. I'll stick with my Dyson vacuum and microfibre damp mop.
I have the Bissell Hydrosteam. I vacuum the floors first and clean up spills another way. The Hydrosteam works great when used as a just a vacuum mop. The Tineco probably would too. Anyway, I have the corded version of the Bissell. Power cord model offers better suction, no limits on run time, and no expensive batteries to replace either. Also, it has less electronics, which usually means less that can go wrong. I just clean the waste tank in the sink and use the auto clean for the roller. No smells.
Thank you so much for this. Mine arrived from Costco yesterday. I wont even open it, it is going back! Im dying just hearing you say all we have to do. I rather spend money on the 2 tank Cedar Mop bucket😊
Yes. These are important things to consider. I haven't seen anyone talk about those things. On a side note, I was a housekeeper. Cat hair and woman's hair were two of the biggest challenges I faced. It might be a bit different if you take those variables out.
The spitting is new to me. None other RUclipsrs mentioned it. Thanks. What I know from other videos, ;though - its self-cleaning is better than any other.
spitting is only due to her vac bottom portion clogged up. i have tried using my bidet to hose it down, 10 seconds and its good as new. perhaps i might make a video to help out. she used wet tissue which made her feel its alot of work, hosing it down is the way to go ;)
I doubt this would be a problem for most people. She said it happened after cleaning up construction dust. You shouldn’t clean up construction dust with a regular vacuum let alone a vacuum mop. It needs cleaned with a shop vac first.
I found your video as mostly cons than pros on this product. Like you I went into the purchase without much research so the learning curve to use it took me a few hours. They do not give instruction to how to use it, but I suggest “Just a Dad” previews on this product. He gave me two points you missed. I LOVE the fact that you can clean every part so it doesn’t stink or get yucky. And it only takes a couple minutes. It has a self cleaning mode for the roller. Place the vac/mop on the charger and push the water drop button on top of the handle. It goes into a self clean mode for the roller. You should still take it out and clean the tray. This vac/mop pulls on its own so it does the work for you. You don’t need to push and pull it. So I would recommend this product if you have wood or tile floors. This is NOT for carpets. So don’t vacuum your carpet with it! But I understand when you say this takes more time. If you are a mother with a couple kids or more, or have ADHD and get distracted, cleaning it would be a drag. But I am very pleased with the purchase as many of the other contributors seem to be🙂
I just recently had to replace my Tineco mop after 2 years. I can tell you that I used rubbing alcohol instead of the Tineco cleaner. Worked great. No suds plus there's the added benefit of sanitizing your floors. It does leave a slight sterile rubbing alcohol smell though. I replaced my Tineco with the Bissell crosswave mostly the same problems though plus I think the crosswave is even louder than the Tineco. Just in case you were curious.
I completely agree with you. Also, cleaning around toilets and getting into corners is hard. I wish I would have watched your video before I bought mine.
Thank you for the information. I too have a Tineco vacuum mop. Being 77 years old and having an arthritic body, this mop has allowed me to have clean floors once again. I don’t mind standing up, rinsing out the parts because it’s way too hard for me to do it the old fashion way. This is the best gift my grandson ever gave me. One thing I’ve never been able to find the answer too is how to turn the ladies voice down? I’ve watched many videos but no luck. I even asked Google, again no luck. Is there a way to turn down the volume or off?
I don't know if we have the same model, but there is a button at the back of the vacuum. Press 3 seconds and the sound is off. I'm not sure if all the models have that button.
thanks for the video and your perspective! personally, the work of filling up a bucket multiple times and having to ring out a mop is HELLLLLL to me. having to just clean the wetvac parts seems easy enough especially since i don't think i'll have to clean the roller each time manually since it does the self-cleaning. lastly, like other commenters have mentioned, they vacuum beforehand which to me isnt a huge deal either because i already use a vacuum and its super fast. i think it comes down to our individual preferences for what is more work for us. thanks again for the video :)
I guess I wished I watched your video before purchasing it. But I think I will still keep it. Moping is hard for me. I can do it but not as frequent. I think with Tineco I can wash my floor every week. Thanks for the honest review :)
It is a bit more time to clean the unit after you clean the floor. However, the effort it takes to clean the floor in my eyes is a lot less. I don't have to lug around a bucket of water and then clean that after. So I really don't mind the extra 2 mins it takes to clean the machine. Taking it apart really doesn't take more than a couple mins and it really beats an old dirty mop head. Worst case if you don't have time you can do the minimum of taking the roller out, dumping the water and quickly cleaning the tank. I do 2 sometimes 3 self cleans and it helps a lot. I bought the cheapest model at the time or almost. Bought it about a year ago and I'm about to buy the carpet cleaner. This with a robot vac has saved my sanity 😂
Great review and the same reasons I decided to pass on this vacuum mop. I decided to go with the Hizero Bionic mop and I love it! Was able to get 15% off which made it cheaper than Tineco and its leaps and bounds better with performance and cleaning. You may want to check it out when your ready for a change. Take care!
@happilyeverchristie You're welcome. I have been using for about 2 weeks now and one thing I have started to notice is that if your floors are not totally flat it doesn't so as well. Flat floors it's fine but tile or textured and it will not clean as well. I may be looking into something else for that reason. Thanks 😊
I usually run the self cleaning mode more than once so when I empty the dirty water tank very few things remain. I prefer doing that than using a mop because with the mop you cannot constantly change the water so indeed you are spreading dirty water around.
You are much younger than me. With my bad back I prefer standing at the sink rinsing out the parts to lugging around water which gets dirty so fast and has to be changed out. This just feels cleaner to me too. To each his own, there is no way to get by without some kind of effort in cleaning. I was happy to see your only con was cleaning it and the price of the solution. I'm wondering if vinegar would dry any rubber parts out, I clean a lot with vinegar because of my asthma.
I just bought my machine today. Usually, I use vinegar to clean floors with mop. And was wondering if I can use vinegar in my new machine. Now I will not do that. I am excited to use my new machine. (Waiting for 4 hours charge) I dont mind cleaning out machine but hopefully it will be better for my back😂
Do you not dump your mop water, rinse your bucket, rinse your mop to prevent it from smelling? It only takes a few seconds to rinse out the dirty water tank and filter. The self clean cycle takes care of most of the machine.
Great video! --- We've been using a different brand model for 2 years now, and same experience with the cleaning effort. Looks like these companies aren't there yet with their wet vacuums. I'd rate this extra effort even more important than the quality of the clean, or "how many passes to clean up xyz".
Thank you so much for this video I am doing my research as we are having a large home built and we will have all wood & tile flooring so I will neeeeed to minimize the time spent on the floors so a single device that does it all will be useful and its between a Tineco and a Dyson. So thank you
Thanks a lot for your honest review, it’s quite rare! I was thinking to buy this one! However from what I have seen, all of those vacuums need a lot of work to clean them after using it, and they all stink if we don’t!
Thank you so much for your honest review! I also own a Tineco PRO S5 and I agree with everything you said here. The only thing is that I wasn't able to find anything better in performance for my hardwoood floors. I feel like that nothing can compare with vacuuming and mopping at the same time. But the smell of the mop is DISGUSTING! I wish they were smarter and made everything machine washable instead of hard fixtures...
@@goddessremembered That's a great question, I haven't ever tried it without the water. I do know that when you are using it if you run out of clean water, it repeatedly tells you to fill the clean water tank.
Thanks for the review. My opinion is that I would have to clean my regular mop and bucket, which takes the same amount of time as this, if not less time. As far as fine wood/construction dust, I dont think most vacuums are made to clean that up. Shop vacs are. For example, dry wall dust will ruin filters on regular vacuums, and I would assume the same for this machine. I just bought my S5 Pro 2. There is a tag to register the unit, and you get a free bottle of cleaning solution - just pay shipping. This machine is more quiet then my shark navigator vacuum, and it has way less noise than the crosswave.
Thank you for your honest review. The length of the video did not bother me. I read some of the comments and ppl are so mean. I guess pride got the better of them. I totally agree with you though, I don't like cleaning but love a clean space. So I would HATE to think I need to do allll this extras just for a clean floor that's gonna get dirty again tomorrow. No way! I feel the flood techs need to get a smart way to deal with all the hair. Appreciated your review and keeping it real😂
I think everything you said was valid . Especially what you said about the hair . For me I don’t think it actually sounded like more work just different work. Like complaining about cleaning the machine made me feel like you don’t dump your mop bucket multiple times during mopping or clean the bucket when done . From your reaction I think the bigger problem for you is you personally are super off put by wet crumbles so it feels like a bigger chore than dry crumbs and separate dirty water. I’m not judging it’s just something i noticed since I’m also super off put by wet hair , crumbs and old food. I think the average person without the sensory sensitivities wouldn’t even notice it as extra
Im on the same boat, bought the Tineco S5 Pro and it absolutely sucks. I was outside of my return window but I would never buy something from them again. Their customer service is terrible. For those of you that are stuck with the unit, I use Simple Green with mine, mix 2 oz of it with a full tank of water and it will clean the floor alright. For hard stains I just scrub them with a wash cloth.
Really thorough and thoughtful review. I have a cheaper lower model Tineco and agree with the ‘cons.’ That said, (1) I use much less cleaner. I actually think hot water by itself does a pretty good job, (2) like me, you have a pretty diverse set of conditions, women with long hair in the house and pet hair and I have yet to find any solution that those would not be issues (ie my Miele vacs rollers always have long hair on them). (3) all mopping solutions from manual to electric has some gunk cleaning and drying of parts. I got tired or wringing out swiffer and sponge type mops and spraying down solvents etc… Tineco seems easiest to me. (4) there really isn’t another option in the wet floor cleaning space, Bissell, Hoover? Not thanks. (5) I am fortunate to have a cordless floor vac that I prevac the kitchen floor to get up the big debris and then use my Tineco 1 to wet clean the area, like I did with the old fashioned mops, making the water and buildup less gunky. (6) you are dead on right about smell when cleaning a day late. But I just send thru a couple extra cleaning cycles and it gets rid of smell. Thanks again!
Thanks. I’ve owned the Crosswave and it appears to have the same issues. Therefore I think I’ll opt for the Hizero F500 because it separates water and is much easier to use without all the consumables.
Thanks for sharing. For some reason, my filter does not get dirty enough to need to clean out. I finger wipe the areas near the roller and then run water over them in the sink, then let them air dry. I find less solution is ok. I bought some bissell crosswave solution and used a very small amount 50ml. My tapwater is around 140c. Also if the roller is dirty, wash it under running water before running the clean cycle so it comes out dryer. I agree there are a few steps to it, but when doing all the main areas the extra steps seem ok for the results and time saving.
I bet the low sud laundry soap for front loading washers would be just perfect for this machine. Most people have that on hand anyway. That's what I'd be using. Needing to clean it after is still a lot less than lugging a mop, bucket, filling w/ water. Needing to rinse the mop, and likely change the water a time or so. Then needed to rinse and ring the mop at the end, and empty a few buckets full of water. Much more work to do that, not to mention manually scrubbing your floor. This takes the elbow grease out and this model is even self propelled.
I have a 1.2 sqft apartment. Making a mop bucket and then putting the microfiber head into the wash and dryer takes sooo much longer. You can get away with instantly cleaning by just rinsing it off after each use. It’s like a stick Dyson. It won’t replace it all.
Mop also has to be cleaned and dirty water removed or it will smell badly. The problem I find with most retail machines is that they do not hold up and can be too slow to clean. Hence, I bought a commercial machine. It cost 3x as much but allows me to do my house in 15minutes
Thank you for the review. I like you expected this to be a little easier. I thought it would be just dumping dirty water and use self cleaning mode. I dont know why people are so upset about OUR opinion. The cons you mentioned are just so people can level set their expectations.
Try "Fabulous" instead of "PineSol." It has a neutral PH and therefore will not suds up on you. That's what I use in my Bissell Crosswave. No need to purchase Tine's branded cleaner.
I have tineco S5 extrem and I totally agree with 100% of all these CONS. I spend more time cleaning it than using it and if i don’t clean it, the vacuum starts to stink. I absolutely don’t recommend it. Regular mop is more time saving than any of all these unaffordable washing vacuums.
Thank you for sharing i currently have the regular s7 and thinking of exchanging it for the s7 steam. I only wish the battery would last longer unless I have a bad battery but it discharges pretty quickly.
Thanks for that. Makes me think I need to look for something with a self cleaning feature. I get distracted a lot and frequently stop doing tasks in the middle to go do something else.
I actually watched this video to learn how to clean it bc I’m thinking of buying it. I feel like it’s pretty obvious that you would have to clean it. Anything you let sit wet will accumulate bacteria and start to stink. It’s a trade off, you’re either using a mop and bucket and spreading dirty water all over your floor or you use a swiffer which doesn’t do a great job of actually cleaning or you use one of these and cleaning it out afterwards and letting it air dry is just part of the cleaning process.
Should’ve got the Narwal S20
Thanks for sharing your experience. I watched a ton a videos and this is the most honest review I have encountered so far. Kudos to your channel!
Why doesn’t he have a shop vac
I agree but sharing the fact it’s a must is great.. I took us a while to understand we need to clean it every time….
at least not like back in the day we had to do it manually like twisting and rinse the mop few times to make sure it fully clean from detergent and soap.
Don't do it
Agree totally..any vacuum use need to clean OUT..too a lot of 409 similar cleaning products can be used not the $25 cleaner came with it …I think she could of shortened the review at the beginning. Why vacuum when anyone is napping 💤 😁
Wow.
This is a tough room, eh? 😉
Nice to have ppl around who know what they want.
Can it be used on a carpet?
@digitaltools3011 I haven’t used it on carpet. But I have used it on a thin rug and it worked.
i have a very similar Tineco mop/vac.... and you are 110% correct on needing to clean out the "parts" of the Tineco after each use.
I was watching this video while I was packing it to send it back . Now I am sure I won't hesitate . You are right in every word you said .
My house is spotlessly clean ..cleaning the water tank is no menace at all
I simply Love my Tineco
Best and happy purchase
I appreciate you! In March 2023, I purchased the floor one s5 steam. I have enjoyed my machine having four children. However it now keeps shutting down after telling me " Dirty water tank full", the machine has been well maintenanced and the tank is not full. :( Thus far Tineco has been cooperating. I wish i had done my research, Lesson Learned.. Because I learned the Hard way on this one, I have since Purchased A Miele, cannister vacuum and my ONLY complaint is the cord length.. Thank you for your bravery making your videos!!!
There is a video on Google why the tineco is shutting down and what you can do.
And it’s a vacuum. Anyone have a quiet vacuum?
@@fredr5664only for quiet messes.
Thank you very much for sharing your honest experience. It‘s helps me a lot for making decision.
Correct but you don't generally clean your carpets on a weekly or daily basis.
Honestly, your honesty deserves a praise. Thanks for the video.
Exactly.
Kinda defeats the purpose...
True. So I ended up buying a regular cordless vaccuum and still do my cleaning the old way. @@zeds_dead
If you pull the dirty water tank apart and throw the parts into a sink of fresh water they are very easy to clean under a running tap. I can have all the washable parts cleaned in a few minutes and the machine is fresh and ready for next use. Personally I dont find this a big negative. I love my Tineco.
Absolutely agree 👍
Thank you
Showing us the inner works and knowing i have to clean what i clean with is good to know. Thanks for the review super helpful.
I have the crosswave with steam, and agree 100% about the dirty water tank
I love it. Thank you!
If one is accustomed to just vacuuming in between mopping days, then there's no cleaning of the vacuum every time it's used.
Just sayin'.
You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy your new steamer!
Thank you very much. I watched the Tineco video from the mfgr. & was confused. After watching your video, I'm all over it so thank you. Great job!
Glad it helped!
It takes me less than a minute to clean it, after I used it. I have had it for a year now and is making my life much easier, having a 7yo and a dog at home. Worth every £ I paid for it but, that's my personal opinion 🤷🏽♀️
Thanks for this honest review! It really helps making a decision on whether to buy this or not!
You can use any cleaner made for carpet cleaner machines. I use the Bissel one on my tineco, which I prefer because they have a antibacterial version.
Thank you so much! I was thinking of buying one of these but now I think I’ll save my money and stick to the old fashioned method!
Is the S7 Pro still the Tineco brand ? And is the main function to vacuum hard surface floors ?
@@SleeplessinOC Yes, still Tineco. It vacuums fine, even kibble. I'm used to vacuuming beforehand but I'm realizing you don't need to. Kitties go in and out all day with dirty feet and loose hair. Floors are clean and beautiful! Hair doesn't get stuck anywhere. It goes in the dirty water tank and gets dumped in the toilet.
Thanks for your honest review, I would pass on this after seeing your review and also the exhorbitant cost
Thanks for your honest review, I was thinking of getting one but I changed my mind
Thank you so much❤
I am so glad I was able to help! My hope was to level set everyones expectations before spending money.
I have to agree with you. I just got a Bissell Crosswave and it's going back. I'm going back to my deck mop and swiffer
I love is video mine got so gross I thought I could just run a clean cycle. And it would be fine to thanks for putting this video out.
I have Zero issues clean the machine. I do the same with my Tineco cordless vacuum. Keeps it fresh every time you use it.
Thank you so much. I was thinking about buying one. They are on sale. You saved me so much money.
Thank you very much! It helps me to make a decision between s12 and s5
Everything she’s complaining about is petty little crap that any idiot should’ve known not to do
I found your video as mostly cons than pros on this product.
Thank you for the pro tip. I will definitely try the rubbing alcohol. With little kids and a cat running around a little sanitizing would be great.
Is it safe to use alcohol if I have cats? The tineco solution is way too expensive and always out of stock when I need it
Rubbing alcohol can damage hardwood floors!
Rubbing alcohol probably ruined the machine. Maybe vinegar would work?
We just got this now and my husband is trying to figure it out, also a bit freaked out that is a spy machine with all that ai stuff. Ugh.
True, I think even my neighbours can hear the lady in the machine 😂😂
thanks for the video and your perspective! personally, the work of filling up a bucket multiple times and having to ring out a mop is HELLLLLL to me. having to just clean the wetvac parts seems easy enough especially since i don't think i'll have to clean the roller each time manually since it does the self-cleaning. lastly, like other commenters have mentioned, they vacuum beforehand which to me isnt a huge deal either because i already use a vacuum and its super fast. i think it comes down to our individual preferences for what is more work for us. thanks again for the video :)
Take care!
Thank you! I saw your comment and had never heard of Hizero! I’ve been researching for an hour now and am definitely getting one!
@bonniebranch6083 You're very welcome. As long as you have level flat surfaces it's going to he fantastic...I'm loving mine!
Thank you for your comment, like others I had not heard of Hizero. I'll look into it :)
@happilyeverchristie You're welcome. I have been using for about 2 weeks now and one thing I have started to notice is that if your floors are not totally flat it doesn't so as well. Flat floors it's fine but tile or textured and it will not clean as well. I may be looking into something else for that reason. Thanks 😊
The vacuum wars people also agree with you as I just checked out the review on their channel.
@vegasneon. I thought about vinegar also and then I read on one of the comments that the acid from the vinegar ruins the water pump. Did you try it?
@@thekat268 Nope, I have only used water and it has stayed nice. I do rinse everything well right away.
Very true
Great video! --- We've been using a different brand model for 2 years now, and same experience with the cleaning effort. Looks like these companies aren't there yet with their wet vacuums.
I'd rate this extra effort even more important than the quality of the clean, or "how many passes to clean up xyz".
Thank you so much for this video I am doing my research as we are having a large home built and we will have all wood & tile flooring so I will neeeeed to minimize the time spent on the floors so a single device that does it all will be useful and its between a Tineco and a Dyson. So thank you
Did you get the Tineco or the Dyson? That's where I'm at too.
Very valid points
Thank you for this honest review!!!
Thank you for this review. I really appreciate it.
I wish they were smarter and made everything machine washable instead of hard fixtures...
btw I started using regular liquid soap, just 1-2 pumps and it doesn't make to much foam.
I'll have to try that! Thanks for sharing :)
@@happilyeverchristie does using the vaccum but just not adding water help? I'm curious if it's worth it for the hardwood floor suction alone
@@goddessremembered That's a great question, I haven't ever tried it without the water. I do know that when you are using it if you run out of clean water, it repeatedly tells you to fill the clean water tank.
So helpful. Liked commented and subcribed. I hope most reviews will be this honest to people.
Gracias me encantó tu video y fue y seguirá siendo de mucha utilidad gracias por tomarte el tiempo y ayudar a encontrar lo que realmente necesito. 😊
Thanks for this video! I just purchased the I floor 2 on Black Friday from Walmart. It’s going back!
I so wish I was able to return mine haha
Many thanks Christie, so helpful, will continue to ponder on my purchase - Australia
For hard stains I just scrub them with a wash cloth.
i agree with you on the hard stains... but tbh are there machines that are able to clean them? i guess we have no choice but to hand scrub.
Thanks for sharing all the con's!
Thank you for the review. I like you expected this to be a little easier. I thought it would be just dumping dirty water and use self cleaning mode.
I dont know why people are so upset about OUR opinion.
The cons you mentioned are just so people can level set their expectations.
Thank you very much for your comment. Some people are commenting as if they created the vacuum hehe
God bless you. This review was on point. Thanks a lot
Thank you for sharing i currently have the regular s7 and thinking of exchanging it for the s7 steam. I only wish the battery would last longer unless I have a bad battery but it discharges pretty quickly.
Been using an $89 Bissell shampooer for several years. Essentially the same post-cleaning regimen. Not a big deal.
Thanks for that. Makes me think I need to look for something with a self cleaning feature. I get distracted a lot and frequently stop doing tasks in the middle to go do something else.
Thx for the honest review. I don’t have much space to clean so this helped me determine that I probably don’t need to spend that much money. 😂
