Best Damn Yankees song in my opinion. You are right in saying that Tommy Shaw is a very underrated vocalist (and guitarist). Amazing song writer as well.
If anyone is underrated or overlooked... it's Jack Blades from Night Ranger. He is an excellent bass guitarist and vocalist. He has super high energy, and is a pretty good lyricist. You should definitely check out Night Ranger. Don't Tell Me You Love Me live from the Seven Wishes tour. When they say Super Group, that includes Jack. Also Uncle Ted is an insane guitarist! This is probably the only group or super group that was paid to walk away. They were too much of a disruption to the industry. They were so popular, and so good.... they were taking away from everyone else. They actually got paid off to quit! Pretty wild huh?😂
Ted Nugent is a Jedi. The drummer said in an interview that Ted would show up for the recording session, and he would just pull stuff out of the ether. It was like watching Beethoven or Mozart. No practice, no head-scratching, no pondering. Just like opening up faucet and watching water, pour out
Damn Yankees Amazing Supergroup Come Again is without a doubt my favorite. You will enjoy “High Enough”. Damn Yankees in Concert was Absolutely Amazing
I grew up in Teds neighborhood. He was older, but everyone talked about him. He played at a skating rink by my house and that was my first concert. Have seen him several times over the years and he always put on a great show. Ted rocks!
Coming Of Age, Damn Yankees and High Enough are also great tracks from that album - Tommy and Jack sound so good singing together - always loved Tommy’s voice
The story i heard is they were all playing at jack blades place near frisco...the 89 loma pre eta quake hit and everbody froze.. except ted..he kept playing..when it was over he stopped and said..im sorry...did i do that.😂
You want to have some fun, whether on your channel or just on your own, check out the live version of this song. The guitar solo is expanded a bit and you can see just how much fun Ted is having on stage. I'd recommend "Don't Tread on Me" as one of their straight rock songs that gives you a chance to see how they sounded with Jack Blades singing lead. It's probably my second favorite song of theirs. And you said you weren't familiar with Jack's main band, Night Ranger. Most people would tell you to check out their biggest hit, the ballad "Sister Christian," but Jack didn't sing lead on that one. I'd go with "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" or "When You Close Your Eyes." The later song has an interesting dynamic where Jack sings lead on the verses, but the drummer, Kelly Keagy, sings lead on the chorus. Damn Yankees was a bit different that the other super groups of the era in that they had three different very well established members who could each sing lead, but that had all come from groups where they only sang lead part of the time. Granted Ted's vocals are nowhere near what Tommy and Jack can do, but the songs where he does sing lead like "Piledriver" are a lot of fun. Each of their voices have different strengths, and they were great about letting the song dictate who was going to sing lead. And to this day, they are still in the top five best sounding bands I ever saw live.
It seems that the heartbeat of the super group has been overlooked. Hats off to the great Michael Cartelone on drums. He moved on to the fabulous Lynyrd Skynyrd where he remains.
Night Ranger has some bangers and one really popular ballad called Sister Christian. Their Touch of Madness album spent a lot of time in my tape deck on the drive to school in '85 ish
They only have two albums but what's on them speak for themselves. This "SUPERGROUP" got together, and Tommy asked what name they should use and Uncle Ted said, "I don't know about you, but we look like a bunch of Damn Yankees" A great song from this album is "Dirty Dog". I think you'll enjoy doing that one.
I saw this tour! You've never heard of Night Ranger???? Oh man! Gotta check out their songs Sister Christian and Rock In America. You need more Damn Yankees! Check out their songs High Enough and Don't Tread On Me.
When i saw them as they finished ted was on his back riffing...the band went off stage..ted was still riffing..tommy and jack came out and drug him by his feet off stage and he never stopped....also at this show they hung a stuffed dummy of saddam on one side of the stage..ted came out with his compound bow on the other side of stage and put an arrow dead on into saddams nards...it was epic
I only consistently watch and support one reaction channel. Not yours. But I think that's about to change. Anytime anybody receives this to react to I always try to watch it. Tommy Shaw very underrated, best guitar solo Ted Nugent ever played in my opinion, and all around just a perfect rock song. You have earned a sub and much more watching from me for this video and the way that you feel about it thank you.❤🎉😊
I'm not sure Tommy Shaw is an underrated vocalist by anyone who knows about him. He's actually considered one of the best rock vocalists, with a crazy range that he uses with precision and smoothness not seen with many others. Those who are in the know, give Tommy the due he is deserved as one of the greatest rock vocalists from the 70's and 80's era. He's my personal favorite, and his versatility in styles and ability to write and arrange music, while never learning to read it, is amazing. He's a fantastic guitar player and as Styx is still touring, his voice is still spot on even for those highest notes. I love Damn Yankees almost as much as I love Tommy Shaw, whoever he's playing with. lol
I've been a fan of Tommy's since 1978, when my mother brought home Styx's "Pieces Of Eight on 8-track. He's my favorite lyricist, and in my top 3 or 4 male vocalists. Unfortunately the music world won't recognize him, or any of the members of Styx. Da*n Yankees had two albums, before music changed and went into grunge. I actually like their second CD more, "Don't Tread". The semi title cute is an absolute rocker...
Tommy Shaw (long blonde hair) from STYX, Mr. Ted Nugent and the other guitar player from Night Ranger, i cant remember his name, but he is amazing at what he does. ...... another super group....... thanks for the great reaction.......
I hope at some point you can check out another Ted tune, but with Meatloaf singing. He did a few tracks on Ted's Free For All album. Writing on the Wall, and I Love You So I Told You A Lie are both worth checking out, though Writing is a little harder.
Please react to the studio version of Locomotive Breath! It's infinitely better than the live version, so much that i consider them entirely separate songs.
the song that killed rock as a dominant force they were paid not to preform and made rap born to the masses and all the young grew up on something different and rock was not cool any more and hated by the young because the music industry saw an up and coming genre and decided rock was dead they now know they were wrong and tool kinda helped
I can’t stand Ted Nugent’s politics but he always was one hell of a guitar player. He does look quite strange playing a Paul Reed Smith (PRS) guitar and not his usual Gibson Byrdland though.
Why must we bring politics into everything? How about just give Ted a compliment and move on. Looking at the latest election, your political beliefs are shared by less than half of Americans.
I agree 100% with Ted Nugent's politics, right to bear arms right to be free, you might not like the delivery but he speaks for the middle class man. It's easy to be a Democrat when you're a millionaire and you don't actually have to work. Or give a crap about anybody else in the country.
Geesh! The Motor City Madman welcomes your opinion and at the same time doesn’t give a crap either?? Uncle Ted is for ALL the amendments in the Constitution!!! lol Democrats pick and choose
@kurtsaxton823 2 days before 9/11 my band played a show with Ted Nugent and Lynyrd Skynyrd. That show sticks with me because of what happened 2 days later. But, I also remember the constant line of law enforcement and military coming behind the stage to get Uncle Ted's autograph.
Best Damn Yankees song in my opinion. You are right in saying that Tommy Shaw is a very underrated vocalist (and guitarist). Amazing song writer as well.
Yeah, now that I think of it, he absolutely never gets mentioned in conversations about the best singers. But he's frickin amazing!

Ted rocks!
This was a kick-ass album and group. The chemistry between Tommy and Jack is amazing. Ted was on fire here, but alas, never to be so good again.
their oices are so similar...
Obviously you haven't heard the Nuge's 2002 opus Craveman!
@@extrememetal157 He has no opus, except killing animals and being general bunghole.
Super group indeed!! Absolutely awesome!!!
Coming Of Age, Damn Yankees and High Enough are also great tracks from that album - Tommy and Jack sound so good singing together - always loved Tommy’s voice

Gawd those summer days were sonmuch fun!
Had this CD on repeat back then. Excellent solo

Yes! Damn Yankees are amazing!
My favorite ❤ Damn Yankees song! You have to see/react to "High Enough" too! Beautiful song and great video. Happy New Year to you 😁
Uncle Ted, representin' the D with the Pistons shirt.
Thank you for the comment on Tommy's vocals. I agree 1000% . Been saying this since the 80's

I forgot how great Uncle Ted’s solo is on this track 🔥
I'd like to hear Joan Jett trying to do that!

I guess Ted didn't know Tommy Shaw was from Mississippi.
Tommy is from Montgomery, Alabama
@@STYXFRKS Ted was from Detroit. No exactly New England.
@@STYXFRKS Correct, I misremembered. But still not a Yankee.
Such a great matchup. Loved this band!
I was literally typing "Tommy Shaw is an underrated vocalist" right when you said it!
I haven’t heard this in such a long time. I forgot how good the song was. I used to love it back in the day.
Love Tommy Shaw's vocals ❤❤❤ You need to check out High Enough from them ❤
Damn Yankees were so underrated. I thought they rocked out. Happy to see you enjoyed it.
i have been waighting for the time you would hear damn yankees .. you will love the rest of there music to i hope i see you play them
I saw this tour! You've never heard of Night Ranger???? Oh man! Gotta check out their songs Sister Christian and Rock In America. You need more Damn Yankees! Check out their songs High Enough and Don't Tread On Me.
In my top 5 favorite songs of all time!
A VERY VERY UNDERATED SONG TED NUGENT ON GUITAR AND TOMMY SHAW ON VOCALS AND ACOUSTIC ❤
They even more awesome in concert! Both albums they came out with were fire. Dirty Dog was a sleeper
His solo's are fucking insane!
Great song with an unusually great video. Shots through the guitar strings are a great angle.
Record company paid them not to do a third.
Tommy Shaw gave me a monogrammed STYX towel.I have that shit framed!
The Super Group, The Perfection, The Great Gonzo Uncle Ted 🤟
I saw the Damn Yankees open for Poison... Wow - how in the world did that happen? Would you even want to go on after this band? LOL
Great supergroup, it sucks that they didn't make more albums, and you definitely need to check out Night ranger.
Singing is Tommy Shaw, great vovalist, writer still love him.
My favorite is “Where you going now”.
Saw them live. Opened up for Bad Co. Ted is an underrated guitarist.
Awesome!
Nice review. I look forward to your reviews.
Cool! Never heard this before
Ted's finest solo. 🤘🔥
Stranglehold
@@susanbezio6708 I didn't say "greatest". I said finest. Big difference. 😎👊

High Enough is really worth checking out
Ted Nugent has a huge solo career. Amazing guitarist
Ted can definitely shred.
No music like this these days.
Ted Nugent "Stranglehold" live!!!
Tommy Shaw is a legend. So is Ted Nugent
Best Nugent solo ever
The producer of this album got the best out of Ted.. this is by far his best Structured Work in his career
Do Night Rangers Don’t tell me you love me 1985 live
I hope at some point you can check out another Ted tune, but with Meatloaf singing. He did a few tracks on Ted's Free For All album. Writing on the Wall, and I Love You So I Told You A Lie are both worth checking out, though Writing is a little harder.
Please give Sara by Fleetwood Mac a listen, won’t regret it. It’s like a cross between Gypsy and Landslide.
Please listen to Bodyguard by The Bee Gees. Thank you!!
Tommy Shaw: I wrote another Styx-esque song for the band to do.
Ted Nugent: That's nice.... How much time do I have for the guitar solo?
Please react to the studio version of Locomotive Breath! It's infinitely better than the live version, so much that i consider them entirely separate songs.
I didn't know Pauly Shore could sing. Just kidding.
Are you Richie Castellano twin brother? 🙂
Nugent is great!
Ted Nugent holy smokes
Maybe give Stranglehold by Ted Nugent a listen if youve never heard it.
Saw these guys back in the day, but I'd never had gone if I knew Nugent was a racist. Too bad.
Tommy shaw really 😂 jack is better 😂
