Thank you for the information. I am a drone pilot looking to relocate to Thailand. This is excellent information!
Thank you! Great video 🎉
Thank you for posting this. I live in Ko Lanta, I have seen many people flying drones but after chatting with them.... they don't seem to care about the laws..... perhaps a THB100,000 fine will get their attention.....
Thank you for the great information.😊
This is great! Thanks for making this video!
Thanks for the info!! 🤙
Excellent information ❤
Hi, so if we are on a beach and there is people around (not 30m away) we cant actually fly t?
After hearing all that l wont bother taking my drone. To many regulations in Thailand.
Anyone else having trouble opening the caat link? It says their ssl cert is expired.
I just tried and can’t even access their home page , looks like they having technical issues
Any Idea's on the current Drone laws in BAngkok, Say if you Have permissions from NBTC & CAAT?
Laws are the same across Thailand once you have permission from both authorities you can fly provided you follow the standard rules for flight high , fly zones , privacy considerations etc
Can the FEIC insurance prepare the NBTC document b4 arriving to Thailand ? Or how do they summit on your behalf when u arrive with the immigration stamp ?
NBTC registration is done once you arrive as they need your passport stamp from arrival. For any questions to FEIC you should reach out to them directly.
Thanks for the information!
So if you bring a drone to Thailand for 10 days but have no intention to fly while in Thailand. Still have to register? (Going to fly in neighbor country)
no, you can have a drone in Thailand for up to 30 days without registration but no flying without registration
How can I find the no flying areas in Thailand ?
i got my one from CAAT when i registered my drone. So you should check with them during registration. Hopefully they updated it since there were some removals of some zones from no fly list
informative video!
I'll be travelling to Thailand for 9-10 days on Arrival Visa, do I need to register it ?
I have checked that to register on caat I need immigration stamp copy, that mean I have to arrive Thailand without pre-registration of my drone, will security confiscate my drone or they will allow and ill have no problem ?
Please help
HI, Yes you need to register it if you want to fly it. If you are not going to fly it then you don't need to register as long as you leave the country with you drone with in 30 days of arrival
CAAT Thailand drone registration can be done remotely before your arrival, But you need to make sure your drone is insured as per Thai regulations (explained in the video) and takes about 2 weeks to get an answer
NBTC registration can only be done while you are in Thailand and valid for duration of your visa and takes about 2 days
I want to ask how many years the certificate from CAAT is valid for?
CAAT is 2 years but the NBTC for the length of your Thailand visa /entry stamp
@@geekwandering ok thanks for the information
Great video! I'm flying into Koh Samui and staying there the most of my trip. Can we fly in Koh Samui?
Yes , providing you have done all the registration
Hi everyone, I’m Amber, originally from China and now living in Pattaya, Thailand. I’ve registered my own drone license and have since helped others from various countries do the same in Thailand. If you need assistance with your registration, feel free to get in touch.
Great video! I am planning to visit Thailand with my drone too but I am wondering if it is legal to fly a drone over historical parks in Thailand?
Hi, there is no specific mention about historical places in the regulation, the rules states
"
You must avoid flying near crowds. It is prohibited to fly over cities and villages. Additionally, stay away from government buildings and hospitals.
To take off and land, you must always obtain permission from the property owner. In practice, we usually resolve this by requesting permission from the guards or the information desk.
"
so providing you follow them you should be ok.
When i fly the drone i try bot to fly directly above historical places as there is generally people there what i do is like a panorama view at a distance or i set a point of interest and do a circle around.
i hope this helps
Hi, I am going to Phuket and krabi for 6 days trip and I have DJI MAVIC MINI drone. Do I need to register ? Or I can fly on beaches atleast without registration?
You need a license otherwise you risky a big fine.
What if I want to fly a drone in thailand but I will stay for just 10 days. Do I have to register ?
Yes. He stated if you fly it, it must be registered, period.
I'm only in Phuket for 7 days. The process seems lengthy and I'm not sure if I can get approval during my time in Phuket
if you already in Phuket then yes its not enough time as CAAT registration takes about 2 weeks. if you not in Phuket and can get the CAAT registration done before arriving then you should be ok since you can get NBTC registration done within 2 days once you arrive
I saw some guards were not allowing to fly in the National Parks. The problems is all the amazing places are part of the National parks, and even with the registration from CAAT, NBTC and FEIC, they didn't allow me to fly. In this case, do you know how I can apply for flying in the National parks? Thank you :)
As per the regulations you have to obtain the permission from the property owner for take off and landing .I personally have not had that issue myself I always managed to get ok from local security guards. But if you having issues i think the best course of action is to reach out to an entity which manages the particular park and try to get the permission from them.
I’m going to Bali and Thailand, I only intend to fly in Bali, the drone has to come with me to Thailand and I do not intend to fly it there. Will I be sweet? And you have to have the drone batteries in your carry on like Australian law?
hi, you should be fine. regarding the batteries check the policy with airlines you using different airlines have different rules regarding carrying drones and how to pack them
@@geekwanderingwhat happens if you dont register it can you go to jail?
For the NBTC, I have my thailand visa in hand already. Can I do the process beforehand and make the payment online ? Or they need an immigration stamp on my visa for it to be processed?
Unfortunately NBTC registration cannot be completed remotely before you arrive as you will need to submit a photo of your immigration entry stamp in your passport as part of the registration.
@@geekwandering thank you very much for the quick response ✌️
i just click form at CAAT registration,,,after i fill the form, how to sent?is it online? or give the form to airport?
you need to do registration online uav.caat.or.th/ it takes about 2 weeks to get approval, you need to create account and fill in the forms and attach all the required documents
Great video! I'm in thailand now on and ED visa, and planning to purchase a drone. I'm confused regarding the NBTC registration and validity time. My ED visa requires me to get an extension every 3 months, so in other words, I need to visit immigration every 3 months and they put a new stamp on my passport. So in my case if I purchase the drone, will I need to register with NBTC every 3 months? Also, what if I only fly once and never again, will I need to keep registering on NBTC and pay 214 THB every 3 months just because I posses a drone even though I don't fly it around?
HI, according to the Thai regulations right now
NBTC approval granted is valid for the same duration as your visa or entry stamp at the time of NBTC registration, and for Thai citizens the approval is valid up to 90 days. Remember if you extend your stay in Thailand you will have to renew your NBTC registration.
What I see in your case if lets say you do not renew your NBTC registration and then lest say few month down the road decide to renew you will have to pay the fine for having an unregistered drone as you only given 30 days from entry into the country or purchase of the drone to register it.
If you don't renew the options I see is that you cant fly it or renew your NBTC registration until such time as you exit the country and come back on a new visa and then do a new application to NBTC
Hi,
I bought a drone on holiday in Thailand.
I did not know about the registration part.
I test flew the drone there and then I left Thailand within 10 days after purchase.
If I try to register now, will I get in any problems or asked to pay the fine ?
Can they know that I test flew it while there? I left the country within 10 days..
you should be ok, but you defiantly should register it if you taking it back to Thailand
@@geekwandering Thanks will definitely do!
@@geekwanderinghow much is the charge or can you get locked up if you dont register it? I'm goin in 2 weeks and I'm now learning this
❤
How would they know if I Fly My Mavic 3 Pro without registering?
well if the police sees you they will ask for registration documents.
