@@Homelander_1 Croatian cops might be more chill in cities where tourists hang around. I've been watching travellings to Croatia on Twitch and whenever the streamer questioned an officer they were polite. Some occassions where they just ignored. Not calling all cops corrupt but it happens more in countries thats between 1st and 2nd world countries. With American police it usually differs from the crime/suspect. I'm not American myself. But yes they can be very harsh fast, but also some could be very patient. It's like that all over the world. Some can give a suspects over 20 verbal warnings meanwhile some cna give 3 warnings then using the baton to break ur window
@@Hashtomte it really dies depend from officer to officer, but most of our officers are trully chill pepole(who usually are friendly to you as much as you are to them). I live in a more rural area and we know most cops here by name, so officers here are even more friendly, and we dont mind tourists(nobody in our country really does) as long as the respect our country and culture.
PS we do joke about police coruption in our country, becuse we just kinda accepted that some officers will take a few bucks and let you go from a traffic stop(do not attempt that you WILL get arrested becuse the corruption is not as bad as pepole think)

As Croatians we know police are uneducated swine, just like all other police in the world, but where they are stationed is border between European union and Serbia (with whom we had a bloody wall relatively recently). Does anyone know why the Hungarian police helped out, in the end, if Niko "was" or was not wrong to enter the island. And also the liber island explained in the video did not belong to both Serbia and Croatia, It was an island located as far as I can see closer to Croatia and gaurded by Croatia, but is a no man's zone as no one lived there. I am just asking out a question: no hate or anything, just a question.

As a Serbian I know the feeling all too well from waiting at the border between Serbia and Croatia for 3 hours and the police are never really nice but I certainly didn't expect CROATIAN border police to act like this, even this is new to me

dont think they are acting this way bcs they want it. They act like this bcs they are probably ordered to act this way. This territory is a part of an ongoing dispute on top of being the schengen border. If croatia doesnt prevent people from entering, it is not protecting the schengen area, and if it does prevent people from entering then serbia can claim croatia is doing so because it is a part of croatia, which is way croatia usually arrests people and then just lets them go because they dont know what else to do....

For anyone wondering how this was legal, they entered Croatian territory through Hungary therefore they never left the EU's Schengen Area, which allows the free movement of people between participating EU countries. In this case, no border crossing occurred therefore the Croatian police had no legal right to detain them, which is ultimately why they were let go. Although that didn't prevent these corrupt officers from abusing their power in the process because unfortunately this type of corruption is not uncommon in Croatia.

As a Croat, I am very dissapointed by our police. Both at the border and the ones on the island. No understanding of the law and can't even speak english. The guy that kicked them should get fired and possibly sued. Massive W to Hungarian police though.
