Dude, this video series has inspired me once again to start working on a V8 S10. I had an Xtreme back in the early 2000s. I LOVED that truck. But then I got laid off and had to sell it. I've been building my 2016 Subaru WRX for the last 2 years. It's nearing completion and makes over 1000 HP. My next project will 100% be an S10 thanks to this video series!
Exhaust in "race mode" is wild! I like the stock wheel set up for winter....makes truck look really "sleeper". Bet a lighter weight regular cab short bed version build would be interesting😁😁. Hmmm...I'm looking at my Y2K S10 reg cab shorty 4x4 with 4.3 and 105K miles. auto, 3.42 rear used for plowing. But I would have to ditch the plow (lol).
Yet another super clean built! Awesome work! I'd love to see that thing climb pikes peak on a day with barley any traffic. Maybe worth a short episode? 😁The elevation is no joke. The town and country I had with the 4.0 V6 had barley any power left when we were getting to the top. Let alone in comparison to driving it in Iowa 😂 but your numbers are really promising! Keep up the great work, I'm enjoying every episode!
It would be cool to see it on par with the sy/ty setups. I think considering the weight of being extended cab would probably make it more fair to compare to the typhoon. Although, at some power level, the extra wheelbase is going to weight transfer less than either so rear tracton may become an issue. Wheelbase may have played at least a small part in the magic of copo truck. Personally i love the short wheelbase trucks, but being 6'4", regular cab s10 is kinda cramped. I currently have most of the ingredients to make a 87 2wd blazer into a typhoon clone....well minus body kit. Bravada front diff,(and control arms, torson bars, and bravada has the same zq8 larger front sway bar, zr2 rear, 86 4x4 blazer frame, 03 5.3 or 09 5.3 ...still need to come up with a computer on the cheap, and still would prefer a astro van transfer case over the smart track unit, but its still in progress (single father life means its pushed lower in the priorities at the moment)
if I remember correctly, the 80s and 90s silverados has this weird whine that would go through the speakers when you would get above 3k rpm. I think it had something to do with improper grounding from the factory.... but yeah... I was wondering if that was what I was hearing in that last video.
Man, I didn't know you were in Utah for a bit. I recognize that road from the west side of Utah lake. The rolling hills on that road are fun to hit at speed haha
I know you don't like 6 cylinders but I would love to see your take on a i6 colorado swap. Maybe for a shop truck/sell it to me ❤😅 Love the channel! Keep it up!
He doesn’t like V6s, because the GM 90 degree V6s like the stock 4.3 this truck had, just don’t sound great. An inline six has a totally different sound to it, with most of them letting out a pretty awesome howl under full throttle. Everybody loves how the I6 sounds as a diesel today, and many have forgotten the legendary sixes of hot rodding’s past.
I can’t help but think that dumping it to the side would quieten it down for race mode. Stopping the reverberation under the truck. But two things, I like the sound of the “street” mode, so I’d probably run those more. Second thing is even though it’d be louder, side exit before the wheel would just be cool looking. You probably don’t have the space to do that either.
"Horsepower loss at altitude is due to the decrease in air density at higher elevations. For every 1,000 feet of elevation gain, a naturally aspirated engine typically loses around 3% of its power." From sea level to 6,000ft your LS NA engine is down 18% or for a 500HP engine approximately 90HP loss. In Utah at 4,500 ft a NA engine HP loss is 13.5% from sea level. Going from Utah to Colorado Springs, CO the loss is a additional 4.5%. (18% CO - 13.5% UT) Perhaps a little N2O shot is in order prior to supercharging?
Imagine if they threw caution to the wind while giving double barrel middle finger to electric and released a small s10 size awd 5.3 L33 teeerrbo. One can dream.
Exhaust idea. Since the design is essentially done for even when high power engine goes in why not add cutouts in. Basically point them down like your "race tips mode" angled pieces. Switch to go from mellow street truck to less mellow and louder race mode.
I'm sure the elevation is hurting power I'm sure a corvette servo a shift kit and more aggressive trans tuning could bring the E.T. down the original cycline only had a 700r4
I love these trucks. It would be much cooler with a Tremec 5 or 6 speed. But with it being AWD, it might be better with a NV3500/4500 since you can get it with 4WD variety
I lived in The Springs for 10 years and my Wrangler had a NON-EXISTANT 5th gear! It just didn't have enough powers to use 5th. That's what they made forced induction for! Can't wait for the boots! You could do away with the exhaust and make a rear mounted turbo set-up.....
Awesome to see it basically done and on the road! You mentioned the exhaust being a bit loud for a daily... What's your opinion on higher stall converters and daily driving? Debating between a cam optimized for a 2600 or 3000+ stall speed for a Silverado. I understand the extra heat dissipation needed, just wondering if a 3000 stall is annoying when you aren't at the track? Probably depends on the driver too...
I’m really hoping you just put Xtreme bodywork on this. It would truly be the way they should have come. Lowered down for daily driving they look great.
for the street mode vs. track mode exhaust why don't you have some electronic exhaust cutouts from full quiet sleeper mode to open exhaust before the mufflers at the push of a button?
Probably because electric cutouts always leak. Always. I've probably installed 25 different setups. The only one that didn't leak was the sliding door type instead of a butterfly, but they rattled after a couple months, so they aren't any good either. Plus adds weight.
I wonder what it weighs? Got to be almost 4000 lbs with fuel and driver. 6000' altitude is a killer. Need to do some 1/8 mile hits and see what it corrects to at sea level. My truck loses .3 - .4 in the 1/4 here in FL from winter to summer weather.
LT why wouldn't you do a true cyclone set up as a second gen. You could've used the 4.3 it came with and threw a turbo at it. All you've really done is just v8 an s10. Which I've done it's a lot of fun don't get me wrong but doesn't qualify as a cyclone with a v8
The bigger problem with you cooling system is that you are testing it during winter when it is cold outside. If it is struggling to keep up now, how will it perform on a hot summer day during an autocross event?
Love the video LT. But you should go to Mexico to do your test hits. You know the RUclips cops and epa snitches are always watching. Stay safe brother. God Bless and God bless America 🇺🇸
The 0-60 wasnt a direct comparison. You didn't brake torque the truck on launch. You just let off the brake and applied throttle. A boosted launch makes a big difference.
For anyone who would have the knowledge how should I go about completely making custom headlights for a 2003 ford f150 o have some sketches of what I want to do how should I go about this any suggestions would be appreciated thank you
I was watching a video of police chases that end in RIP and got a beep. Hit the brakes click the show. No more crashing it man. Oh and one front wheel wasn't even pulling.
Need bigger cam and stall Like I said before my 5.3 lm7 248/242 .600” cam only t56 in my s10 on radials and 2lane road pulls 4.8 0-60ft 90° 3000da and 4.0 0-60mph at 30° -2000ft da It’s not fast compared to other 5.3s s10s I’ve ran across at a best of 2.0 60ft 8.0@92mph 12.7et letting out at 1000ft on draggy I would hope I make 375whp but I would think your s10 should be doing 1.7 60fts awd because that’s my Achilles heel is the launch in a full weight 2wd s10 standard cab/bed If I was on a prep surface or could get it to hook a 1.8 60ft I’d be in mid 7s I would think But love the content for people like myself that don’t have much to compare my stuff too all this data helps tremendously !!! ruclips.net/user/shortsMzRiMBIGzws?si=CYAvWtTBD1FSeMLV
Phase 1 completed ✔️
You need to let LT build something for the Morvair, it needs a little more razzle dazzle under the hood.
That is a beautifully done swap
thank you!

13:06 please please please line this up next to Tony and the stay tuned crews SikeClone. Same idea with a totally different execution.
Love the build. Beautiful craftsmanship indeed LT.
We want a STAY⚡TUNED collab

Regular cab short bed with a 4.3? Those are rare. Must feel like a little rocket ship.
Awesome stuff... Thanks LT for keeping the content fantastic 👌
I actually really like the voiceover style of this video
Excellent work, LT!
Your're rocking it LT!

This is a fun project. S10 V8 swaps are cool. Will you try to race the @staytuned Sykeclone when you power up?
I love the stock look
I got to get this done to mine. Asap. This is literally all I want in all my S10s.
The e break shoes are the same as my 2011 caprice ppv.
That's a 5 gen style sub frame.
Nice progress for sure.

Awesome little truck
Sleeper Status with those wheels, Sweet.

Damn this just made me realize how quick my built 11:1 LQ9 escalade is ........
I'm surprised you didn't overhaul the t-case that is/was noisy. They are simple work to make perfect. Maybe a couple hours and some parts.
Man, I didn't know you were in Utah for a bit. I recognize that road from the west side of Utah lake. The rolling hills on that road are fun to hit at speed haha
Sounds really good mellow
I know you don't like 6 cylinders but I would love to see your take on a i6 colorado swap. Maybe for a shop truck/sell it to me ❤😅
Love the channel! Keep it up!
You probably ought to bark up Calvin's tree at Nivlac 57 YT channel for a 4.2 swap.

@@countryjoe3551 already watching it! 😘

You have to Raise the Power steering pressure by modding the Regulator for the hydro assist brakes!
Damn fine job brother
Man copo got off the line! 4 seconds!
COPO was a ton of fun!

This truck needs to be at sick week 2026.
Very nice,sir!

Tranzilla TR6060
I’d leave it in drag/race mode lol sounds like a lil beast 😝👌
I would like to see it with a Syclone style body kit and a new paint job. It’d have to be black or red like Syclones were.
Brilliant! Love it. Chevy fan all the way. 🍻👍

Dam you look cold!
Hey LT did you upload your runs to the Dragy leaderboard? I wish they had a search function on the app
Time for boost.
I'm honestly shocked how slow that it is. It would be really cool to see how much faster it would be with a 6l80e.
I know you don't like loud but "race mode" sounds amazing bc it's quite when cruising and loud when wot I'd love if my Silverado sounded like that
Awesome to see it basically done and on the road! You mentioned the exhaust being a bit loud for a daily... What's your opinion on higher stall converters and daily driving? Can I get an internship with you
I'm with Francisco lol
I’m with Francisco and Ian
I'm with Francisco, Ian, and everything.
Me too
Yea what they said
Suprised it bent the axle and not the rim.
2,204👍's up LT thank you for sharing 🤗
I wonder what it weighs? Got to be almost 4000 lbs with fuel and driver.
6000' altitude is a killer. Need to do some 1/8 mile hits and see what it corrects to at sea level. My truck loses .3 - .4 in the 1/4 here in FL from winter to summer weather.
It sure sounded like the 1-2 shift was too soon. With the slushbox shifts suck up a lot of time.
I prefer the quiet exhaust.

He said he don't like v6 noises. and it's not 4x4 anymore. It's AWD.
I might have missed a prior comment but any plans for a limited slip for the front axle?
The bigger problem with you cooling system is that you are testing it during winter when it is cold outside. If it is struggling to keep up now, how will it perform on a hot summer day during an autocross event?

Dude!!! More gearing!!??✌️
If you want to know the answer…take the numbers from the Colorado/Canyon with its detuned engine and tall gearing
Flowmaster hush power mufflers???
What is the name and address of the shop? Have a friend near and want him to use you for his work.
LT if it makes you feel any better, my 315k mile syclone does 0-60 in 5.3s, so you're closer to at least one syclone's 0-60 haha
Drag strip?
What do you estimate is the current power of the engine?
If you want to sell that Tintop Tracker…LMK!.. Love those things..😊
Eggcellent
Woo hoo!
I would love to buy a 2012 gmc canyon with the factory 5.3 and build from there
May have missed it but is this a gen 3 or gen 4 motor?
Gen 3 LM7 with a TBSS intake
@LawrenceTolman 10-4 thanks, my lm7 dropped oil pressure at 750 wheel. My lc9 with eagle rods and summit pistons hopefully does better
The 0-60 wasnt a direct comparison. You didn't brake torque the truck on launch. You just let off the brake and applied throttle. A boosted launch makes a big difference.
I got a 2500 suburban that would make a good donor drivetrain for the cyclone
For anyone who would have the knowledge how should I go about completely making custom headlights for a 2003 ford f150 o have some sketches of what I want to do how should I go about this any suggestions would be appreciated thank you
You should switch to a 6L90
I figured it would've been faster. But a baseline is a baseline. That's how I see it.
I’m guessing 6 seconds because I have a full length half ton with a 5.3 and it is 7.- something
Been a bit since i watched here
What happened to the ugly truck i there doesnt seem to be any recent videos on it
It sits mostly, but has some more upgrades planned for this spring/summer
@LawrenceTolman ah nice good to know its still around
Lt you should run a np120 , torsen is always better lol
I would have thought 5.3 would outrun the little turbo v6, but you're truck is alot heavier
Cool project, but color of the car, ohhhhh
Where is the mustang
Forced induction out for delivery
I was watching a video of police chases that end in RIP and got a beep. Hit the brakes click the show. No more crashing it man. Oh and one front wheel wasn't even pulling.
Lv3 swap the tracker. We need lv3 content
I thought the truck looked great with the Vette wheels. Swapping back to the stock wheels for Winter makes the whole truck ugly.
3 wheel drive. Every time you’d punch it, driver front wouldn’t spin
Need bigger cam and stall
Like I said before my 5.3 lm7 248/242 .600” cam only t56 in my s10 on radials and 2lane road pulls 4.8 0-60ft 90° 3000da and 4.0 0-60mph at 30° -2000ft da
It’s not fast compared to other 5.3s s10s I’ve ran across at a best of 2.0 60ft 8.0@92mph 12.7et letting out at 1000ft on draggy
I would hope I make 375whp but I would think your s10 should be doing 1.7 60fts awd because that’s my Achilles heel is the launch in a full weight 2wd s10 standard cab/bed
If I was on a prep surface or could get it to hook a 1.8 60ft I’d be in mid 7s I would think
But love the content for people like myself that don’t have much to compare my stuff too all this data helps tremendously !!!
ruclips.net/user/shortsMzRiMBIGzws?si=CYAvWtTBD1FSeMLV
Wanna race my 7.3L lol
SMH!!!
You don't need to break stuff just to justify buying new stuff. Hehe
Unless ...
I hate to say it but the cyclone is still faster you need to look into that V6 the Cadillac is using
Pretty un-lawrence like running up to 114in the dark
Didn't you screw up one of those Corvette rims by bashing into that curb???
Also, I think swapping out for that asshole exhaust was stupid.
It would be faster with a T-56!!!!!!
That diff fluid looked pretty dirty for having such low miles on it....
My S-10 is getting a 350 small block V-8 so the answer would be YES !
