I am from the United States and have never seen any of these or even heard of Tony Robinson until today! I watched the “Worst jobs in history” series and am now finding this show as well!! I am so glad to find this as our “history channel” is no longer showing anything close to this! Only reality shows about gold rush, Alaska the last frontier, ice road truckers, and a fishing show about crabbing! It’s terrible and there is no historic television any more, I want to LEARN while I watch tv! Thank you so much for posting this!
Episode 1: Conditions on the First Fleet were awful! Episode 2: Makes a single passing reference to it's arrival but otherwise doesn't even name the Second Fleet. The First Fleet was a government enterprise, with government ships, and government personnel. 25 people died on the voyage and about 30 were sick on arrival at Sydney Cove. The Second Fleet was "put out to tender" and consisted of private ships and personnel previously involved in the Atlantic Slave Trade. They were paid to transport convicts regardless of whether they reached their destination dead or alive... so they just packed them in like sardines. Of just over 1000 convicts that left England, about 275 died on the voyage. On arrival, in a colony on the verge of famine, all of the convicts were starving and lice-ridden, and about 500 of them were so sick they were unable to stand. Of those 500, about 125 were dead within a few months. With around 400 fatalities from 1000 convict passengers, the Second Fleet had the highest mortality rate, by a large margin, of any transportation fleet sent to Australia. The worst ships were the Surprize, Neptune, and Scarborough, ships owned and crewed by a company called Camden, Calvert & King (the aforementioned slavers). John Macarthur sailed on the Neptune, a ship where convicts were deliberately starved, kept in chains, and confined below decks for the majority of the voyage. His wife and son departed on the Neptune but, after an argument over their living conditions that resulted in a duel with the ship's master, arrived on the Scarborough, where conditions were better but not by much (remember, they were not convicts). The Neptune has been described as the "worst ship in the worst fleet" and it's captain as a demented sadist. Despite the outrage, in both England and NSW, no charges were ever laid, and Camden, Calvert & King were contracted as part of the Third Fleet. This time they were paid only for those convicts that arrived alive. Also no mention of Bennelong accompanying Arthur Phillip back to England in 1792, where he was allegedly presented to King George III
Not a mention of Elizabeth Mcarthur, who was just as responsible (probably more) for the great success of the fine wool industry in Australa. All while living with a very unlikeable and mentally unstable John.
So where the first colonists were mostly urban criminals, without any farming skills etc, now we have a complete reversal of the situation where the current government are mostly 1st generation urban criminals not necessarily from compatible cultures. 😵💫😆 Who would have thought such a role reversal would ensue?

there is 20 seasons of Time Team to watch... lots of tv that wont insult your intelligence !
America is truly isolated from the rest of the world.
Tony is also a famous comedian. His most famous role was probably Baldrick from the Blackadder series.
I can watch Tony all day long.
Thank you so much
