the first hotpot place is the go to for (broke) students in singapore like me! super grateful for their affordable set meals and glad you featured them, they deserve more business haha
Is it as good as it looks?? The quality looks incredible for how cheap it is. Also hope your studies go well and that you eat lots of good food! Feed yo brain
I think that the first hot pot place is more up my alley not only for price, but for also the lack of time limit (unless I missed that part somehow). Thank you for sharing so many wonderful food adventures with us on the regular, Mike!
Having ate at the first hotpot place countless times I can say you can sit there for as long as you want lol. Shilifang is available in most shopping malls in SG and they are always long queue.
Mikey! Just got Hot Pot for the first time, SO GOOD! thanks for the inspiration! It was a little intimidating at first, but server was very patient. Such a good time for out 29th wedding anniversary!
Me too! I have never tried hot pot until I watched this channel so me and my hubby went out last night and had hot pot for the first time for our anniversary and I am not disappointed at all! Loved it!
Mikey I have watched you for YEARS (like probably close to 8 or I don’t even know….before you were big, haha!). I was in your neck of the woods in Flushing a couple weeks ago and told my parents we had to go to Hot Pot! They were hesitant but loved it! My Dad was so lost at the sauce station but grateful when the waitress made him a sauce. I loved my short time in Flushing (we stayed there after a flight in from LaGuardia prior to boarding a cruise the next morning in Manhattan. My Dad is retired and I joke that he is my travel agent. When he informed me we were staying in Flushing and that as usual, I was responsible for finding all our food places I told him I had been preparing for a Flushing visit for years thanks to your channel! I just wish I had been there longer but I’m sure we will be back. It is fun to be able to teach your parents new things and bring them new experiences as an adult and I am grateful for doing it together 😊
Oh and I was in heaven for almost two weeks having Congee for breakfast at both the hotel in Flushing and on the cruise ship. I saw a few people do double takes seeing a white girl excited about her congee but I think it needs to be normalized 😆 I hate oatmeal and love Congee!
My family went to the first hotpot place for dinner once, we ordered the set because it was confusing. They served a lot and then realised that a lot of the dishes were a la carte from the table behind us. We still have no idea which were from the set and which were not. I don't think we saw any $6/SGD8 deal but then we have not gone during lunch.
The Shi Li Fang Hotpot is actually a company my grandfather used to work for. Now he's not working since his leg has some pain. My family will often go eat that hotpot.
Hi Mike, glad you’re loving the food in Singapore! Just to clarify that the tea is called Da Hong Pao2 (Big Red Robe) and not Da Hong Pao4 (Big Red Cannon)
The first hotpot place ShiLiFang, is one of the affordable hotpot place in Singapore! Great for solo hotpot if you are craving! The soup was pretty good too especially considering the price!
Wifey and I just had the Shi Li Fang Value set yesterday at the Kinex outlet across from my home, thanks to you! But forgot about the stuffed toy haha. And at this time where December always rains, this is a great choice! Would recommend Mala Level 1 as your first broth, and the Pork Bone Soup as your 2nd to complement it. On a whole though, it's a lot more fun and satisfying to dine a hot pot as a group.
There’s sooooo many hotpot places in Singapore you have to try :) Tongxinruyi at boat quay is one of my favourites (there’s only one outlet in Singapore) Beauty in the pot (multiple outlets in Singapore) is great too City hotpot (tanjong Pagar / raffles place) - personal hotpot
I dont know if you'll see this but there's a pretty good hotpot spot in Northpoint too! It is called Yi Qian Ling Yi Ye. Very affordable and actually pretty decent variety. I think the variety's bigger than shi li fang and shabu. The best part there is their ice cream. They have rotating flavours each day but so far every flavour i've tried is great. Their Mala and chilli oil is spicier than shi li fang's too:) They even have Xiao Long baos! and tons of other stuff. I do recommend the chicken and mala soup base if you ever plan to give it a try! Best to go in the afternoon or early evening:)

Singapore is known for being luxurious from top to bottom, and I guess hotpot meals are no different. Mikey Chen is always excellent with his food recommendations and new places to discover abroad. His talent is something that deserves all the credit.

Mike, you should try out 小龙坎 (xiao long kan)! They have several outlets in Singapore and their mala is pretty good. Tai Er also serves good Chinese Sauerkraut Fish!!
Love the show but just a general question.... What do you do with all the extra food? I know you sample a lot but do you share or bring people with you or invite others there to join or take food. Just curious....
I got AG1 for my dad who works a lot and after 3 days he feels better than normal becasue of the drinks, he's more energetic and less tired in the day.
